@@barrylyons8102 I had both cameras hanging around my neck, was out with friends and only during the day and never alone. I was very worried beforehand, but nothing happened and I felt very, very safe.
@@barrylyons8102No sweat. Just go native, don’t shower for a few days, smoke…stuff and a ok. Trust me, I live here. In fact, I am Catalan. I do have issues blending in because I am the opposite. But it’s a beautiful city, just not for living.
No way haha! I approached you when you were at Brew Coffee (the cafe from 9:52) and asked about your M. I had a feeling I recognised your face but wasn’t sure, pleasure bumping into ya! Glad to see you enjoyed shooting around my city ☺️
Great work! Love the tones and composition. I shoot on a Minolta X-700, and I’m always excited to see what other film photographers are creating. Thanks for the inspiration!
Visited Barcelona in 2019 for the first time, with my Leica M10 and Q. 5 years later, I am living two blocks away to Sagrada Família and still own both cameras and give them every now and then a run in the streets. Barcelona has been the best decision in my life and I enjoy the vibe every day. Glad you liked your time here as well! There are so many amazing things to discover, never stick to Cuitat Vella only.
As quite possibly the only guy riding around NYC on a BMX with a Leica in my crossbody, I'm psyched to hear you ride! They're perfect as a rider. Small but built like absolute tanks. So no worries over the jostles of a random irresistible stair set or some such. Barcelona is such a great city. I go back and forth between there and Prague for my favorite cities. Barcelona is legend for BMX. Super cool seeing your film shots start to infuse your style with new sort of range to play with. Some absolute classics in here.
Wow! It's incredible how many skate/BMX people are into photography. It feels like a natural transition for some reason. I blame the talented photographers and film makers in both disciplines that produced incredibly inspiring work. For example, I bought a camera because of the dope Joe Simon videos from Mutiny Bikes and the photo work George Marshall, Bacos and Rob Dolecki to name a few made for BMX magazines.
Just stumbled across your channel. As someone who skated for 15+ years of my life and also filmed/edited skate videos its rad to see another skaters POV when out shooting.
This video is just gutting me that I only got 2 hours to shoot street in Barcelona, literally went to an F1 race and I'm still sick! :P great stuff as usual mate
Enjoyed the video ! Spent 3 days there last August after a one week Rhone River riverboat cruise. Recognized a lot of the places you went to. Maybe a little longer next trip.
Some lovely images (22:40 my favourite) and cool chilled music. But I felt the lengthy camera sound after every shot a bit jarring though, a shorter quieter camera click would be better IMO.
Not sure who you used for develop and scan of your film (or whether i missed it during the video) but i can recommmend AG Photographic and Photolab (Birmingham). Their high resolution scans are beautiful, plus if you're in a rush for the return of scans for a video you can let them know and they do put an impressive rush on things. I had scans back the same day my film arrived with them (tracked delivery) when i needed scans back quickly for a model's portfolio.
You hace to visit the Hospital (Recinto Modernista) de San Pau, a masterpiece of Modernismo Catalán. The sense of space, the landscape of the internal patio and the volumes of interior and exterior places are unbelievable. The modernist decoration is the richest you will ever find. Far superior than the Sagrada Familia or Güell.
That two pictures at the end of the football field an the pool would fit really nice in anyones kitchen. Like the analog photos you've taken. They have this little extra. :-)
@@jackdarren9210 I've never been to the USA; it's definitely on the list. I'm from Germany, yes I agree with you, Switzerland, Austria, Italy are all relatively close and can be easily visited.
I've been to Europe several times, in fact I was in Hechingen, Germany, just below Stuttgart, on a work related trip in 2015. I loved it there and all other places in Europe I have been to which covers most European countries. I hope you make it to the USA soon. It , like most other places , has its good places and bad places.
I have the exact opposite finding to you when I'm shooting digital. I have all the shots in the world (battery limiting), so I'm able to shoot absolutely everything that interests me. I'm much more selective with film.
What is the overall cost of shooting 10 rolls of film? Cost of 10x Rolls + Cost of having it developed & printed/scanned? I'm guessing you won't buy and develop a roll of film for under £20/€25, probably more like £30.
At 7:40, is it just me, or does it look like there's a large man's head with glasses and possibly a beard, seen from behind, stuck in the textures, with a highlight on the ear, along with someone's cropped legs?
22:41 is magical, Mike.
Thank you! Glad you liked it
The picture of the soccer field is so great. I love it! I like that you shoot more film now. The pictures look good!
Glad you liked that one! I think it's nice too.
Barcelona is such a beautiful city. I visited it this May with my Q3 as well as my Sony a7IV and 50GM. It definitely won't be the last time.
How did you keep it safe when you were going out

Glad you liked this! Thanks for the comment
Great place to skate and take photos - not been in years, need to rectify that
dream city to go skate. stoked to see you shooting film, keep crushing it!
Love your video. It reminded me of our visit in Barcelona together with my aunt. ❤
Lot of great shots but 22.40 in particular is excellent 👍
Fun video man, loved the bubble punch shot
Such an easy watch Mike! Lovely photos as always📸

Love to hear it! I just assumed nearly 50% of everything in photography came from the skate world 😂
Having a Leica for show and not for photography

Do you use Zone focus on the streets? Because for me it's so tough to focus with rangefinder on moving subjects)

Is there such thing as city trips for street photographers? Would be an interesting concept. Where you book a stay and meet up with people too
was your whole video recorded on the DJI pocket 3? looks really good!
Yep! The whole thing - thanks
Living in Europe would be great! Y'all are lucky to be able to get to different countries with ease, relatively speaking.

Isn't that mental, though? You could just head out and decide that you only have one "roll" in your digital camera.

Hello nice video nice M11 nice MP ;) next time that you come to Barcelona write maybe we can make pictures together. Regards from Barcelona.
Thank you!
Hi! Do you edit your film photos ?
Yeah, I make a few minor tweaks :)
Team MP
So I'm curios: How many rolls of film did you end up shooting during these 4 days? Also: Have you tried to overexpose your film by >1 stop?
I shot about 5 rolls. I got through more in the 3 days with my mates than I did with 3 days on my own haha
Few images mate not really sure what u are showing yes film but Barcelona is a fantastiskt Place 😊

We need to talk about your diet, mate! 😅
😂😂 I only show the worse bits. I promise it’s good
can't go to Barcelona only once, as the saying says....
I also just took a picture of the same football field lol
Dude has like $22000 worth of camera gear on his bed like no big deal.
Stop pocket watching
@@kobyrobins1113 I can’t help it the GAS is real.
On the bed was okey, but on the table in Barcelona… it was a gamble.
How do you do the color grading on the OSMO pocket?
In Leica world $20,000 is nothing 😂
That doc was cool but boy did they fuck up by putting random film borders on the pics...
