    I always level magnet crafting first while I'm leveling to 100, usually max it out just before 100 then start the next gear piece. 1/10 chance of an omega magnet saves a freak ton of trouble in early endgame.

    I made a whole document trying to get every profiency to max in a creative world and it costs about 670 crafts to get to 100% (master artisan is at 640~). To me that's well worth it in the end game. Especially now when it's just some gold, netherite ingots and vault alloy. So that's 670 netherite ingots, 670 gold and 6k alloy, all of which you should have amassed while getting to level 100 EASILY per catogory. But all that to get 11% Omegas and 100% epics? That's insanely powerful if you wanna get multiple builds going and min max each of them.
    Aside, what else are you gonna do with vault scrap and gold at level 100?

    • @Hellfirem4ge
      @Hellfirem4ge  10 месяцев назад +4

      Absolutely that! If you spend a few vaults focusing ornate chests, you'll also get a stupid amount of vault ingots and that's going to set you up for a while!

    The thing that gets me, is that me and my group are SUPER casual players. Been playing once a week for over a year, still sub-lvl 50 kind of casual. Yes, I know that's absurdly slow.. We are busy people.
    But we are often left wanting to replace one or two specific pieces of gear as we level, so just craft it right? Doesn't need to be amazing, just enough to keep us alive until we find good stuff naturally, right?
    Wrong. As it stands, we'd need to spend all our gathered resources leveling up proficiency in that one type of gear just to try and get something other than scrappy... Because current level scrappy gear, at least to our experience so far, doesn't replace rare gear thats ten levels old and about to break. Not great.
    So crafting, an interesting system with great potential, is utterly useless until you hit high enough levels to have an arbitrarily large amount of resources.. At which point you need to spend hours making junk just to start rolling gear that might be helpful, or might fill some niche? What point is there to the grind at that point?
    Anyways, rambling aside.. I wish crafting was balanced in such a way that it could be useful in early levels by giving access to usable gear at a reasonable resource cost, so that you can build those proficiencies in a meaningful way over time, instead of just encouraging you to binge through it all at once in the late game.
    As it stands, there's no way we're going to have enough resources to get anything other than scrappy or common gear from crafting until the mid-late game.. (lvl 60') at which point you progress in difficulty slower anyway, thus giving you access to more usable gear.. Idk, just seems counter productive to me.

    • @Hellfirem4ge
      @Hellfirem4ge  10 месяцев назад +5

      I definitely feel that. As I was saying to iskall, it basically feels like a later game mechanic but we get access to it super early. That being said though, as soon as you can hit apprentice, you start getting a lot of crazy gear so just stick with it 😊

    Does Vault Hunter have any way to avoid farming days and weeks just to be able to fill up the entry crystals?

      So there's been a lot of balance changes where early game crystals barely need any resources and they are super common stuff. As time goes on, they will get harder and you'll need to build farms but you'll have mods to help with those 😊 you can also set the crystal cost scaling when you first load it up too so that they're even easier

    Here is the problem with crafting gear, you already touched on the legendary modifier, which fair enough at low levels yeah you wont really get legendary modifiers that you will really use, but later levels even level 30 or 50 it is just better to get the gear from the vault, i would be more inclined to craft gear if they changed the forge, for example if i want to craft 20 chestplates i have to open the forge click the chest plate then click craft then click and drag the item out of the output slot ( makes no sense to me why there is an output slot, this is not a furnace you cant just put a hopper under it, so lose the stupid output slot xD just make it go directly into the inventory ) then i have to click chestplate again and then do that 20 times. It would be SOOOOO much better if 1. it put the item directly into the players inventory when you pressed the craft button 2. if it would remember the last thing you crafted ( until you close the forge ) 3. if you could hold shift and press the craft button and it would either craft as much as it has materials for OR until you have no more inv space left. also i HATE that repair cores are now in the loot pool, it has basically turned painite and vault scrap into a dead item i use 0 of them

    • @Hellfirem4ge
      @Hellfirem4ge  10 месяцев назад +3

      Yeah I agree that the forge is an absolute pain and I have no idea why you can't hopper in and out of it. It made it so painful to make this video 😅 the truth is though, you should be looking for amazing gear in the vault, but if you don't find it, you should 100% be smelting that gear down and crafting more for that extra chance of omega gear. As you said, there's no other use for painte or the vault scrap so other than a small amount of gold, there's basically no downside to it

    good lord the prices for crafting have increased with the new change, makes it feel even less worth doing. The vault forge needs a more satisfying ui, and that new chromatic steel cost is painful, 18 chromatic steel for 1 piece of gear!

      @@PiggyKillerQ Just saw the new recipe. I actually like that recipe much better. You can target loot wooden and ornate for carbon and stockpile up. I don't think the Netherite scrap was common enough before. But now you can actually focus on gear crafting even easier.
      Chromatic steel isn't that expensive late game. I can get around 180 in a chill run with some catalysts easily. So you can level up a tier in 1-2 vault runs. I think this will make me craft gear even more.

  • @turtle-bot3049
    @turtle-bot3049 10 месяцев назад

    Crafting is definitely the way to go for mid game and rounding out your end game builds while you search for those missing legendary modifiers to truly min-max a build.
    Very early game (below 20) you're better off saving the resources and just rolling the armor you loot as it gets out leveled so insanely quickly at those levels and late game it's worth trying for those legendary (and in the future, unique) modifiers, but for that middle game that leads into end game, crafting can make it significantly easier put together to some really nice builds to get you to the final min-maxed end game build.
    As for what I craft, pretty much everything I can, probably sword, boots and chest first for the damage, speed and armor modifiers.
    I'm a theorycrafter by nature (in gaming) so I love trying out different builds, so I craft everything I can, as much as I can.

It was really interesting talking to the community about crafting because there was such a resistance to even try it, and I was kinda shocked how opposed people were to crafting. There's definitely a place for it, but I do think the UI needs changing to more accurately reflect what you're unlocking

    • @Hellfirem4ge
      @Hellfirem4ge  10 месяцев назад +1

      It definitely seems like that, but the numbers don't work out like that. 1 armour breaks into (on average) 6 scrap. You need 36 scrap per armour craft, so 6 armour breaks down into 1 craft. That means to craft 15, you only need to find 90 scrappy armour pieces. If you only rely on armour from completion crates and never loot an ornate chest, that's only 30 vault runs. (60 if you don't use any painite, but as I said in the video, armour crafting is the only use for it really). Realistically you should be finding 1-3 armour pieces in the vault per run even in the early level, so that would double the speed 😊
