    Just to clarify, I didn’t get a relaxer, and won’t be getting a relaxer-ever lol. My “curly hair” natural hair journey is over. It’s me and my flat iron for now!

      I live in Rome and in Europe and especially in the Mediterranean most black girls or European women with naturally kinky curly hair, DON'T straighten their hair. Afro hair is seen as ultra sexy here, free and earthy, goddess. The bigger and frizzier the hair the more men and women alike love stopping to tell you how gorgeous your hair is. I think America has this weird obsession with straight hair that is a Gaslighting trope. It makes us with the sexiest hair on earth, opt to un-sexy it to conform to some bland yt girl knock off. I'm Afro Cuban Puerto Rican so I've never straightened my 3 -4a ish hair. It's big and frizzy, I comb it out, not defining the curls like some 70's Brazilian revolutionary 😂 My Puerto Rican mother never straightened her 4c hair. A lot of this idea of a "journey" to "accept" what your lucky to be born with, is CULTURAL. Living in a yt supemacist Gaslighting machine that shows us Lindsey Logan as beautiful growing up, I get the brainwashing. I'm from the Bronx and in my home it was Cuba. I thought Lindsay was bland and had NO "tumbao" African sexiness. Our hair is a part of our Tumbao. Now living in Rome I watch America as an odd curiosity.

    I grew exhausted stressing over buying hair products, my hair coming out the way I want one day then the next it looks horrible, time consuming wash days, and the whole headache of dealing with hair. I'm busy these days and don't have time to sit in the mirror for hours twisting my hair and taking out the twists to go to an event or work. I have heat damage on the front part of my hair as well but it's my own mistakes from excessive heat. However, I've been enjoying my straight hair sew-ins with a leave-out. I feel less stressed to keep my hair looking a certain way.

    You… are in my head. What you said is everything that happened to me , down the UFD gel. I had a bit of breakage in the back and this supposed curly salon senior curl expert cut my hair while it was in a wash and go. After I told him I never wore it like that. Came out looking a hot mess with uneven chunk and a curly mullet. I’m still recovering and I absolutely hate the way it look, even after another salon tried to fix it. I’m done!

    Black Girl Curl's training course for stylists is called Cut It Kinky. The moment you said the cut looked too perfect and that it was "too short in the back", I initially thought "it must have been a CIK stylist" and I was right lol. They really like a sharp defined shape, and from what I've seen they like for the cut on tighter curls to be shorter at the bottom and longer at the top unless the hair is a certain length. I think they say this is because the length for tightly curly hair isn't at the base like it is in straight hair or looser curls, it's in the top layers because our hair grows out in a 3D shape. I like the techniques they have when it comes to wash and gos & twist outs, but I don't necessarily like the results of the cuts, though I understand why they do them this way from their perspective. This is just what I've noticed. I wish you the best of luck with your hair journey.

    • @nicolelise
      @nicolelise  2 года назад +5

      Thank you for your comment! Not sure how there’s not length at the bottom because um, that’s still important too lol. I do think they have some good information that can work for people. Just wasn’t my thing!

    That's your business do you. I find mostly type 4 a/b/c is going back to flat irons and relaxers mostly because they didn't get that desired hair type they wanted. People have to do what works best for them being natural isn't difficult and you don't need million of products and 6hour wash days to do it., also you don't need to have your hair in a protective style daily. It's the people who make it hard. People have to so what's best for them tho

      How do you say, “That’s your business do you” but then proceed to do exactly what we be talking about that goes on the natural hair community. Pretty much insinuating she doesn’t like her curl pattern because she prefers her hair to be straight
