WOW! What a beauty! This aircraft has a special place in my heart. I am 76 years old, and have had a lifelong affair with aviation (26 years in the USAF, private pilot). My very first model airplane back in the 1950's, was an Aurora F6F Hellcat! It is such a pleasure to see this beautiful model fly! Thanks for sharing this moment with others!
That was really cool. A bunch of retired pilots from the nearby base used to get together and fly planes like that at a commercial sod company field near me. I loved watching them with my Papa on Saturdays.
Beautiful model! Those Moki radials sure sound great! My father flew Hellcats in the Pacific during the war. Just one point, they were painted a much darker blue over grey.
i always wonder how these guys able to contrl RC so smoothly. The angle and distance from where you are controlling plane is so disorienting when trying to align the aircraft to the runaway.
I built just about every ww2 model plane I could find when I was a kid. Loved the era. That is THE COOLEST model plain I've ever seen.thanks for sharing. Drop the 'f' bomb after it crashes. Excellent landing!
Great aircraft, great engine- such a nice, deep, heavy sound! I'm hoping someone out there eventually will install 2 Moki radials in a large scale F7F Tigercat. I've seen nice looking Tigercats with (the horror) electric motors but I couldn't get too excited about those. Thanks for showing us your awesome Hellcat. Grumman Ironworks forever!
I knew that field looked familiar. Went to a fly in there in around 01-3? Remember quiet flyer magazine was there and a man brought his half finished massive wingspan b17. My dad took me, he passed this last year. .brings back alot of memories.

Why would anyone give this video a thumbs down? Well videoed, clear, slow pan. The 'pilot' does a great job....Kudos to all and thanks for posting. Cheers from Canada.
@Jim Goose my excuse for that is my eyesight would not pass a aviation medical. But I fly RC aircraft. Largest has a five foot wingspan. Which is difficult to transport about. A trailer is one option. My other is buy an old Transit. Pondering both at the moment. Here in the uk we have from memory a 7 .5kg weight limit. That Hellcat is a great model flown well.
So excellent thank you for filming this I know you have many many thousands of hours and dollars in this hobby and I just want to tell you you made my day
You have got to go to a museum and see the real deal. They are amazing. I saw one at the Moody Gardens Air Museum in Galveston. Some air shows have them and if you get there before the start of the show they usually let you see the planes up close and talk to the owner. I think it's a great learning experience and I hope you get to see one someday.
Great flying, one thing I noticed though was the running up with the guys just over in the edge of the prop arc. If that sheds a blade it would pretty much go straight through you!
Some how, even as I have studied the conflict as 1941 -1945 Pacific conflict WW2, I did not fully understand the "hellcat" potential as air combat to IJN *zero (zeke), until I watched this RC model fly. What a power and effortless solid...design. That Moaki engine....well....makes it come alive....and return to the air war, of the S. Pacific. Well done....and alive to my view. M.

The most deep, throaty sound for an RC plane I've ever heard. Awesome!
It sounds like a real Radial engine. OP, can you tell us what engine is in that thing?
I was just thinking that too! Some of the flybys are hard to tell that its not a real aircraft.
@@charleswaters455 moki engines are radials.

The engine along in that plane runs around $5,000 !!
Impressive set up !

near perfect 3 point landing. and it was nice and slow too, exactly like a carrier landing.

One of the best landings I've seen. Congrats on a cool Hellcat. Very nice build and the flying of it.
I agree with others: very realistic sound of the engine and incredible pilot skills. Very nice landscape 👍👍👍
Damn ! It even SOUNDS like the real radial piston-engine airplane starting up.
It sure did. And this is what kind of engine?
@@jamesglass5402 it's a Moki S300 radial engine

Beautiful plane and engine. Nice flying and landing, too.
This Hellcat is so realistic visually and soundwise that it could be used in a Hollywood WWII movie.
I know! Crazy how much it does look and sound like the real thing,

I don't think they make a 4 stroke engine for rc models.
