- A few sequences from the last flight with my beast. Power without end...
Power ohne Ende...
Man, looked full size in the first two shots!
Your P51 is the best version I've seen anywhere of my favorite plane ! It's WICKED COOL BEAUTIFUL! What else can I say. Would love to see another video that shows the details of your War Bird! Thanks for sharing it with us 🇺🇸
Hello
Thanks a lot for the praise. 🙂 It was a hard way to complete the bird with this engine and electrical impeller cooling. And it's not finished. I have still problems with mounting the beast. The geared prop solution unfortunately produces more vibration than the direct drive. Because of this the lower cowling is not stiff enough. I must reinforce it. Maybe some belt tension adjustments is to do.
You can find me in Facebook: Christian Otto
Write me your email. Than i can send you some pictures from the details. But don't expect too much. Only the cockpit is semi scale. Wheel well and landing gear not. Also no lights.
Greetings from Germany!!
Lovely - that prop' makes a huge difference.
Yesss, of course. 😃 This was/is the reason for these prop.
Man that is a stunner. And what a great sound - even a whistle like the full size :)
Thanks a lot. 🙂😎
@@Chrissi19771 I hope she is still going strong!
@@avipatable Yes, she is alive. But at the moment the engine is removed to reinforce the lower cowling. It's a little bit too weak for that beast of engine.
@@Chrissi19771 Glad to hear it! There are plenty of nice scale models on youtube, but some of them really capture the character and "sit" of the full size - and yours is one of them. There is a chap on the RCSB website building a 1/4 scale Tempest V - my dream build one day and I hope to try to achieve what you have done with your P51. I wish you many happy landings :)
@@avipatable A Tempest in 1/4 scale must be a very huge Model plane. My P51 has 100" (2,54 m) and weighs about 49.6 lbs (22,5 kg). For me its big enough an heavy enough.
I hope you can realise this projekt any day.
All the best and Horrido (German WW2 pilots phrase)
Chris
That scale propeller is sick!
Sick but scale and very powerfull.😍
It sounds so good when airborne.
Super Modell und toller Sound !!!! Klingt wirklich wunderbar .
Amazing project and one that requires massive amount of engineering and patience I can imagine :) Thanks for sharing, subbed
WarbirdPiLOT Thanks. But i'm only a user of this great engine. A guy in south Germany developed the engine and the cooling system. I had bought one and installed it in my Mustang.
Power is more than enough. Unfortunately the engine is not to buy anymore.
Chris
Wow, 2cyl with four blades and the slight whistle sounds very accurate
The plane whistles like the real one!
Thank you. 🙂 Maybe it comes from the beltdrive or the prop. I hope i can fly the beast this year again.
Chris. you have a very cool plane. I want to build a big scale mustang. yours is a beauty. 😎
Thanks a lot, Roy! Good luck for your big project! Which engine you will chose and what is the wing span/scale?
That looks incredible. Congratulations on a great project.
Man that thing is fast.
Yes indeed. But it sounds slower.
Great model!
Thanks a lot. 🙂
Nicest in-line noise & prop around.
You are one of the few who like the sound from this engine-prop combi. It's very different compared to the Kolm's.
The Kolm engines, especially the triples, are awesome. This sounds more...complex, which I think makes it sound more like a full-size fighter. I think the prop drive unit sounds somewhat like a supercharger. At least it seems that way to me. I also like it.
Was this one of Mr. Rosen's wonderful engines?
@@guerrillaradio9953 Yes, i agree regarding the sounds. But the weight/power ratio compared to a geared/ungeared Kolm is better with the combination 2-stroke engine (with tuning pipe) with gear and slow rotating (3100 rpm at full power) big prop with high pitch (31").
You're right. It's an engine from Ralf Rosen.
Hallo Christian
Tolle P51!
MfG
Christian
Sweet! even sounds like it has the famous supercharger whistle.
Rob Crawford Thanks a lot! The sound is very different to other 2-stroke engines.
But the whistle sound from the original is not from the supercharger. It's from the inner gunports. If the air streams in the correct angle of attack (e.a. last quart of a loop) over the gunports than you can hear this whistle.
oh right! i did not know that, thanks for posting.
I have experience in handling smaller planes but I would like to purchase this type of plane, could you help me by telling me how much it costs? is it electric or gasoline?
The kit is a P-51 in 1:4,3 scale from CARF (COMPOSITE -ARF), formerly Fiberclassics. You can can Look on the Website for the prices.
The engine is a two cylinder, two stroke gasoline with Belt gear. Its 116 ccm produces about 15 HP with tuning pipe. Unfortunately it's not available anymore. Similar engines costs about 2000 € (without belt gear). But please search via Google for the current prices.
Than you need the landing gear, the RC, servos, painting and a Cockpit kit with pilot.
I guess you need about 8000 to 10.000 € for a complete scale P-51 from CARF.
COOL 😎
🤘🤘🤘👍
where did you get the prop&spinner?
This was a privat guy in south of Germany. Don't know if he is still producing both. Look at as-scaleparts.de
why would a spitfire pilot have an oxygen mask on??
Tell me please.
Very nice! What prop are you using with your model?
Hey Louis. Thanks a lot for the praise. The manufacturer is a guy in Germany. I don't know if he still produce the blades. The hub is from Christian Ramoser also in Germany.
Here a link to the blade guy: www.google.de/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=www.as-scaleparts.de/&ved=2ahUKEwihmKj2lbDkAhXCaVAKHSHPB1AQFjAAegQIBxAD&usg=AOvVaw1xuBp0_suX6eiCIfkN_iH3
Hello which engine it is? da 64 i2?
Hey. It's a RR258, a 2 cylinder 2 stroke inline engine with 116 cm (2 x 58 cm MVVS). At the front is a belt drive mounted with a ratio of 2,16 : 1.
Sehr schönes Modell, wie schnell ist deine Old Crow. Könnte nmal Formation fliegen :-)
Who built this?
The engine built a guy in south of Germany, The prop another guy. Plane i built alone.
Mike Mustang Hallo!
Meiner wiegt komplett 1kg.
Was nimmst du für einen Motor?
Grüße
Chris
Hallo Chris...
Chris
in need of a large four bladed prop. Any help on where to buy one would be appreciated. Thanks.
Hey! My prop blades are from this guy. ( www.as-scaleparts.de/ ) But i had no contact to him last years. Maybe you can try to contact him. The hub is the 32mm hub from Ramoser ( www.ramoser.de/home_d/varioprop_d/varioprop_d.html ) in Germany. I see in the meantime they have revised the hubs. Looks more scale. If you have more questions don't hesitate to mail me: otto.biederitz@gmail.com .
Hi. Where can I. Buy this engine. From.
Hello. The engine is a quiet and yet powerfull drive. But unfortunately it is not possible to order this engine. It was made from a guy in south Germany. He produced only some engines together with a friend- no series production. He used the well known 58ccm MVVS Cylinder and pistons and constructed the crankcase and the belt gear. Sorry, it seems you must buy another one. :-(
Hello Chrissi thanks for your reply, i am really after this beautiful sound that you have with the gear drive and 4 blade props therefore appreciate if you can guide me or suggest me a engine gear prop combo that would replicate this sound......thank you very much
Are you on Facebook? It would be better for writing.
Chrissi19771 yes. Look for aziz ahmed. Thanks. U will see my dp with a long lens.
Heavenly Homes Hello! I sent you a friendship inquiry on facebook. See you....
Btw i noticed THREE dislikes and coincidentally it appears there are THREE( presumably German) at the very least European responses in the comment section. Is this a coincidence? Lol DON'T hate the plane boys HATE that pilot that decimated your ancestors with one lol
