Not a Kelly fan but that statement did not seem to me to be racist or trashing latinos.....it seems to me she was suggesting Trump is an elitist and racist.. she did say "your" toilet not all toilets...
+chookfeather "who is gonna clean your toilet?" as if Latinos are here just for that, as if Latinos are only useful as so? That's a pretty fucked up statement
If you don't like illegal immigration, then blame American foreign policy in Latin America, which has been creating chaos in those countries for decades which *naturally* causes a refugee crisis that spills onto American soil.
Rose Perez definitely did not have to apologize to Kelly Osborne all Rosie Perez did was defend Latinos. Which was her right after the offensive comment Kelly Osborne said.
I think is ridiculous that she even apologize for Kelly's comments. I am Hispanic and I have a doctorate. Hearing that Latinos are only toilet cleaners is horrific
obviously Perez's apology was sarcasm she just forgot to write #sarcasm at the end of the tweet... "Your heart is so pure & righteous" clearly sarcasm lol.
I’m French Canadian from bum frick nowhere Northern Alberta and agree Rosie had nothing to apologize for! It’s unfortunate people can’t speak their truth without fear of MSM and HOLLYWOOD repercussion. I have the innocent will be vindicated and actors with true talent will shine! Love you Rosie and others do as well even though you’ll probably never see this message. Gros becs la belle
This doesn't only happen on TV.. As an African American women in this country I am used to people making ignorant and offensive comments. How I respond depends on the intentions of the person who made the comment. At work one day a white dude made an ignorant comment that came from a negative stereotype. I knew that he wasn't trying to be offensive...he just didn't know any better so I basically broke down what he said and explained why it was offensive and not valid. It was actually a calm conversation but I think it left him feeling stupid A couple of days went by and in this time he had stopped speaking to me and I guess the situation made him feel uncomfortable so he complained to management. I was called into my managers office and was told that I am making him uncomfortable. I IMMEDIATELY checked my boss and let her know that HE was the one who made an offensive comment. So yeah the white dude makes a racist comment but I made HIM uncomfortable.
Some are missing the point of this post! It doesn't matter whether Latinos are White or Black its that Kelly's comment was racist towards Latinos! Period.
lola bigcups I hated that. That player had every right to his anger and he fired out his anger at specific white men so he didn't say anything racist and he's the one that had to apologize. :( To date I don't think that frat has ever formally apologized for that situation.
This wasn't an offensive statement toward Latinos, it was an offensive statement toward Trump. The point she seemed to be making was that people like Trump (and many conservatives like him) constantly demonize illegal immigrants and treat them as a burden on society that needs to be removed, yet they have no problem taking advantage of those same people and getting them to do work nobody else wants to do, and for a mere fraction of what they might have to pay to someone else. She was invoking an offensive stereotype to make her point, but it was to push Trump's own stereotyped views on Latino immigrants back in his face, and to highlight the absurdity of the conservative stance on immigration and the hypocrisy of utilizing as an advantage the very same situation you're vilifying. At least, that's what I got from it.
Andrew Hawes She was likely implying Latinos are vital to U.S. economy and work force and used a house keeper as an example as its completely realistic. Should people be crucified for misspeaking? If they're concerned about racism instead of gossip they would be talking about Trump and the fact an actual racist might be the republican nominee.
*slams table* THANK YOU! I can't believe TYT is so stupid to not understand that. It's very clear Kelly Osbourne does not believe that's all that Latinos are good for. NOT what she was saying at all.
It's funny because this would be such a non issue if Kelly had just apologized to Rosie and Rosie had just accepted it. Then we wouldn't be talking about it so much lmao. It enrages me that the Latina had to apologize over something offensive that someone else said. How much longer will we be the scapegoats in our society? So tired of taking the blame for this country's problems.
I'm a Mexican-American & no one in my family is in the custodial industry. In fact my mother, who was a single parent armed with only a high school diploma. She currently has a double masters degree and is a yr away from her doctorate. Every one of my siblings has, at least an associate degree. So the negative stereotype about my culture is simply out of ignorance. Lol & how many degrees & credentials does Kelly Osbourne & her family have? Oh, that's right, none lol. Judging from the Osbournes tv show, they're a step away from cave dwellers picking lice off of each other.
+hedonist grrrl I'm in Ireland and Kelly's comment was shocking to me, you wouldn't get away with that shit here on t.v. cannot believe she said that, it's a disgrace, she shouldn't be on the t.v.
Meow Ó Madaidhin indeed, it's usually the most ignorant, uneducated yokels that take racist stereotype and rhetoric as fact or gospel. They don't realize that the rest of the world is laughing at America due to morons like her representing the utmost stupidity this country has to offer! I live in a widely culturally diverse city so racism is a pathetic joke for dimwitted hicks in dingy southern towns. Racist are the biggest intellectual joke, so it's startling to see a celeb, in LA of all places, perpetuating hateful stereotypes.
If Kelly Osborne was just some 'scrubber' from Birmingham without the privileges that here parents admittedly worked hard and earned from the sweat of their brow (giving props to Ozzy and Sharon for their decades or hard work and hard earned successes), Kelly would likely exactly be a toilet cleaner from Birmingham. Kelly isnt particularly educated or enlightened, she is just the child of privilege.. The scrubber!
I used to like the view but after the ridiculous Bill Cosby incident where Whoopi and Raven supported him with all the evidence piled against him, I am pretty much done with them. I honestly thought THAT was the reason Rosie really left. I could tell that their support of Bill did not sit well with her, or Rosie O'Donnell for that matter.
Yo I'm part Mexican and I thought the comment was funny af. Daniel Tosh says a lot of racist things and no one cares, but when some other celebrity or non celebrity says something everyone gets SOOO OFFENDED...I laugh at racist things including my race. Daniel Tosh is one of those people who makes me laugh all the time. And most racist jokes ARE true. Some Latinas DO clean hotel bathrooms.
"I quit because I was tiered of all these stoopid beotches!" - Is what I wish Rosie said. BTW she was quitting way before Kelly Osbourne. But would TYT care about facts?
If you kick all the "Latinos" out of the country, than who is going to make all the great Italian food? Don't forget, Italians are actually "Latino" also! People south of the boarder are predominantly Mestizo!
It is sadly rare to see people like Ana who are SO beautiful, yet who's physical beauty are SO out-shined by their intelligence :D You are such a person Ana :D
Titus Orelius Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. In my case I look at the physical, emotional, and mental view. It is relative, person to person. We can easily disagree on many points. Best of luck to you.
***** We'll have to disagree. I admire a woman's thought as much as i do her looks. It takes a little civilization to see both. Sorry you cant manage that.
Here's the thing: I've heard those comments that Kelley Osbourne made more than once. Those are EXACTLY the stereotypes that many of us have of Mexican Immigrants: maids, farm laborers, construction workers. Now it's a pretty limited view, but Kelly is not some outlier.
Atheist Jewish Messiah Yeah, I've tried thinking about Kelly's comment from all sides, and I keep getting this as an intent: "It is generally known that Donald Trump employs racial minorities, specifically exploiting undocumented immigrants. It's odd that he's talking about deporting them, because he profits from this systematic racial marginalization, a situation that is too prevalent across America." It was brashly stated, yeah, but I thought that brashness did well to criticize the institutionalized racism/stratification of America, as well as Trump's personal contribution to that. People need to stop being so damn literal.
I also found it odd that she didn't appear the day after that incident. Usually with big The View moments like that, the impacted co-hosts go on the next day and explain how they feel.
I said it when they first reported this. I felt like her apology that she tweeted was sarcastic and didn't really mean it. When she said ''you're so pure and righteous'' I immediately felt that this was sarcasm. I called it back then. Looks like I was probably right.
It's so weird that Kelly Osbourne got flack for what she said. I know what she was trying to say and it's something that I've seen people get applause breaks for. She was saying that immigrants do a lot of jobs that Americans don't want to do. She just chose the words to say that poorly.
Mamble In a world where this topic is constantly the butt of many a comedian's jokes, why is this single instance such a big deal? When you have people like Carlos Menstealia making the most offensive, racist jokes about "His race" (Which isn't his race, the liar is Honduran) why is a murder of crow-esque women earning so much attention? This isn't news, this is nothing close to it. It's like tyt is grasping at straws, and sometimes they find one that everyone wants.
It was wrong to say that no matter what people try in defending Kelly Osborne, that by the way, what the fuck is she doing in there?... is she a talented person besides been so talented for mommy and daddy?... because excuse me, to me there's no talent in there. Back to the point, it wasn't right to say that and stop with your BS interpretations.
The big lesson that we should get from this is that we all stereotype most people instinctively and we all must be tolerant with each other in the path to a society where mutual understanding prevails. Stereotyping is almost as instinctive as breathing. We instinctively recognize patterns and rush decisions based on those patterns because this is the best way to survive dangerous situations. But we now live in a surrounding where survival is not in question every day of our lives and we have to learn to improve on our instincts. In this case, Rosie should have shown the audience how even well-meaning people instinctively stereotype Latin Americans, and Kelly would have said she is terribly sorry and that was not her intention but she did fail, and the matter would have ended positively in seconds. Because many people did not understand the mishap as it occurred, Kelly and Rosie were both hurt and the audience did not receive the correct lesson.
I know this is a long comment but the truth needs to be told... If tyt ACTUALLY did some further research into this story, then they'd find out that Rosie Perez apologized because in old episodes of the View, Rosie Perez said that she used to be a maid before she became an actress. Rosie said that part of a maid's job is CLEANING TOILETS!! And Rosie would constantly make jokes about latinas cleaning toilets on the show because she herself used to clean toilets. THAT'S why Kelly Osbourne said what she said! Kelly meant no offense by it. But Rosie herself used to clean toilets for Hollywood actors and actresses. That's how Rosie was discovered. But when Kelly Osbourne said it... "W ho's gonna clean Donald's Trump's toilets?", Rosie Perez got mad because it brought back bad memories for her. Rosie is ashamed of her past. That's why she got so mad and embarassed. Rosie is just wanting to ignore her past and forget it. I don't blame her. In fact, I think Kelly shouldnt have said it because I have compassion for Rosie. But Kelly Osbourne brought back bad memories for her. I agree with TYT, ROSIE SHOULD NOT APOLOGIZE. KElly Osbourne should be the one apologizing. This is why everybody hates tyt. They're too damn lazy to do further investigation into the story. #truth
The first time I ever saw "Rosie Perez" was when she was in the completely racist movie "WHITE MEN Can't Jump" - so she has no right to be angry at racism.
I'm Mexican American. Every job I've had I experienced some kind of bias. They think I'm applying for the dish washing position. They assume I will take less pay. They say I'm a token when I get a promotion. All of this and I know if I mention racial bias where I work, I will be singled out as an agitator. I will say I have done well in my professional career, but to succeed, every single one of us must break color barriers and preconceptions. Kelly Osbourne made a minor mistake btw.
I don't think Rosie owed Kelly an apology at all, but at the same time, Kelly's issue was that she didn't convey what she was trying to say properly. It was clear that her intention was a sarcastic way to underline Trump's racist and bigoted perspectives. Saying "Who is going to clean your toilet, Donald Trump?" as a way to reference Donald Trump having that thought process. I think Kelly did misspeak and in that, she owed the apology, not Rosie Perez. However, I don't think Kelly had any racist intentions in saying it, it was just a bad delivery on her part.
Hezekiah Ramirez A-Look at the video description, it refers to Mexicans. B-The whole incident concerned Trump's remark about immigrants from Mexico (and neighboring countries I assume). C-Puerto Ricans are not immigrants. They are automatic US citizens.
I don't blame Rosie. I still can't see why Kelly Osborne is on any panel of discussion. Such a poor choice of words coming from her. It made her look juvenile and ignorant.
So.....they admit that they don't actually know what happened, but then go on to discuss why it's so wrong that she was *forced* to apologize as if it actually happened?
I am a Latino, and I hate discrimination. But I think Osbourne was stating under misconception that Janitors of corporations and hotels and house maids are almost exclusively Latinos and that most of the other "races" ( for me there is only human race, I dislike separation by so called race ) want to avoid the janitorial jobs, so she in a way was putting down whites as lazy when it comes to work cleaning toilets. Actually janitors are about 1/3 Latinos, 17% Afro-American and 4% Asian ( which means over 40% is "others" ) and maids is 47% latino, 17% Afro-American and 4% Asian ( which means over 30% are others and also maids wise, over 85% are women )........... the actual job were the vast majority of ones doing it are latinos is "ceiling tile installing and drywall" where over 60% are Latinos and about 6% are blacks, and even with that and including 1% Asian, it means 20% are done by "others" which would be mostly whites.
Remember that judge 'encouraging' the Charleston families to forgive the perp on the spot. There's a weird reversal of responsibility factor that goes on in American establishment.
You often hear that immigrant labor takes jobs that Americans don't want. That is, in my opinion, what Kelly Osbourne meant. She is not competent to be on a talk show, however, if she cannot express herself more effectively because it did sound as if she thought the only people cleaning toilets in America came from Mexico.
Robert Osborne Kelly Osborne is not one of my own. I'm not sure why I even watched this clip. However, I don't see how a reasonable person could characterize my comment as you have. You clearly have issues and should seek help.
I'm sure that Kelly Osborne got immediate criticism on social media and she freaked out about it. Rosie was forced to apologize on Twitter so her followers would stop attacking Kelly. So ridiculous when it should be Kelly who should apologize and say what she actually meant.
Why does no one understand Kelly's point. She said that because of Trump's views on Latinos. He probably does have immigrants working for him and gives them the stereotypical "Mexican worker" jobs such as mowing lawns, cleaning etc. I don't think she was being racist at all and everyone needs to calm down.
I'm white and I think Osborn was totally wrong and SHE should have apologized, not Rosie Perez.
exactly
+shelley annette im black, i think she just didn't think
Not a Kelly fan but that statement did not seem to me to be racist or trashing latinos.....it seems to me she was suggesting Trump is an elitist and racist.. she did say "your" toilet not all toilets...
this is late but there are four races white, black, yellow and red
+chookfeather "who is gonna clean your toilet?" as if Latinos are here just for that, as if Latinos are only useful as so? That's a pretty fucked up statement
Kelly was wrong. Rosie shouldn't have appolagize
Rosie actually try to teach that egghead Kelly Osbourne some manners,in her own way but kelly just way too ego to apologize for her rude statement.
Totally wrong dude!
But Kelly is a white Liberal and Rosie is Latina, so no surprise there.
Ikr
Kelly Osborne was waaaaaaaay out of line. In another environment, Rosie might have lit her ass up.

why isn't Kelly not apologizing

"But if Rosie leaves the show who will clean MY toilet!?!" said Kelly Osborne while clutching her pearls.
+Jumping Jim Crow Oh. My. God. Tell me more! :O
+maczu mangu
Uh... was I doing that? And secondly, do you think for a second that Osborne could possibly comprehend that distinction?
so youre a janitor cleaning toilets? you must be latino
I’m positive Kelly started to hashtag Latinos to look for another cleaning lady, she probably thinks Rosie did that job on the view.
@@ednab.9001 Lol Kelly was like why is the cleaning lady on the panel and why is she interrupting me.

I never liked Kelly Osbourne

Say it isn't so.lol
Wait....... people actually watch The View?
Wait ppl still watch tyt?
Some are missing the point of this post! It doesn't matter whether Latinos are White or Black its that Kelly's comment was racist towards Latinos! Period.
Personally I was more pissed off that she apologized than the comment that Kelly has said out of context.
Why would Rosie apologize for Kelly's foolish remarks and why would executives demand the victim apologize.
This reminds me of that football player who was made to apologize for cussing out those SAE fraternitie people for singing that racist song.

Rosie Perez should have kept her mouth shut. She is Puerto Rican after all, not Mexican!

I'll be glad when they put that show, out of its misery.
what I take from this is that Sharon Osborne must be running everything behind the scenes. Hollywood power play.

#truth
True. Strong and factual debate.
The first time I ever saw "Rosie Perez" was when she was in the completely racist movie "WHITE MEN Can't Jump" - so she has no right to be angry at racism.
I love how it's "a disparaging remark" when you like a person , and it's a racist remark when you don't.
the view needs to be cancel. the show has been going down hill since Rosie was fired the first time.
Rosie is the only one on the view that I respect.
Why am I watching this...?
I'm white, and I love Rosie. She shouldn't have gotten fired! ABC and Disney are all politics she's the only one on the show that has a heart
Rosie didn't quit, she was fired: That's why when she announced that she was leaving she was crying.
No one is forced to apologize.
I would love to see Rosie on the Real as a host
So glad Cenk is back. So on point.
What's wrong with cleaning toilets? It's not like they're bankers or politicians.
I love Rosie Perez and she will be the View's lost.
The should name the show the Twisted View.
The view should edit such unwanted phrases. Instead they played it on air and Rosie had no other way. Instead Rosie had to get hurt.
It's Kelly Osborn who needs to apologize to the Latino community.
What is the "The view".
"There's a fine line between racist and stupid." -Questlove
If you're taking Kelly Osborn seriously in the first place, you are part of the problem.
So why Was Perez even offended? She's Puerto Rican not Mexican.
Vebinz Latino=/= Mexican.
Hezekiah Ramirez
A-Look at the video description, it refers to Mexicans.
B-The whole incident concerned Trump's remark about immigrants from Mexico (and neighboring countries I assume).
C-Puerto Ricans are not immigrants. They are automatic US citizens.
Now she'll have to apologise again to Kelly for apologising to Latinos about 'going overboard' in her initial apology to Kelly.
I don't blame Rosie. I still can't see why Kelly Osborne is on any panel of discussion. Such a poor choice of words coming from her. It made her look juvenile and ignorant.
You guys hit that shit dead on the head! You actually see through the bullshit! Thank You :)
No need for Rosie to apologize, Kelly was the offensive one with her remark!
I don't understand why Rosie is apologizing!!!
Exactly, Cenk! This incident is what differs a great show like The Young Turks from The View, the professionals and the open discussion.
How funny, Rosie is actually the only likable and honest one! 😂 Typical.
It sure looked like Kelly was putting down Trump, not Latinos.
So.....they admit that they don't actually know what happened, but then go on to discuss why it's so wrong that she was *forced* to apologize as if it actually happened?
Kelly did not say Latinos only clean toilets. That was Rosie putting words in her mouth. Kelly did not misspeak.
Why are we talking about apologies? Why is this news? Why am I watching this? Oops! Bye...
She didn't quit. She was fired weeks ago.
Rosie I would like to apologise for people's stupidity.
Ian Monam yeah if one of your own slip you crap all over yourselves forgiving and making excuses. screw you phonies.
Robert Osborne Kelly Osborne is not one of my own. I'm not sure why I even watched this clip. However, I don't see how a reasonable person could characterize my comment as you have. You clearly have issues and should seek help.
If anyone needed to apologize is Kelly Osbourne.
I'm sure that Kelly Osborne got immediate criticism on social media and she freaked out about it. Rosie was forced to apologize on Twitter so her followers would stop attacking Kelly. So ridiculous when it should be Kelly who should apologize and say what she actually meant.
Cenk Uygur kept it really thorough at the end there. Salute. Much Respect
That’s apologizing to a narcissist. That’s why she said she felt oversensitive. Kelly was gaslighting her. Narcissists can make you feel that way.
