I’m trapped inside this room. Witnessing your degradation. A soul lost in limbo. This house is your incarceration. I’ve heard your voice at night haunt these halls. Feet on the stairs. The echoes of your tears. I’ve felt nothing since the day you left. It’s been like this for years and years. Modern mind, divisive voices redefine (your heart). Realign what’s broken. Every word, misguided by thoughts left confined (confined). You could leave it all behind. Crawled into a place in my head. The only space where I could feel safe and sound. All that you’ve lived for comes spiraling down. Catatonic. Emaciated. All this pain that you have created. Battered heart. Broken soul. With no other place to go. Modern mind, divisive voices redefine (your heart). Realign what’s broken. Every word, misguided by thoughts left confined (confined). You could leave it all behind. Modern mind, divisive voices redefine (your heart). You could leave it all behind. The small hours loud inside the modern mind, leeching on the lonely heart. Modernity seems to amplify the boundaries of your heart. You try going back when you mean to restart, and the foundation falls apart. The foundation falls apart, on and on and on. Spiraling downward. Spiral down. Spiral down. Reset the pattern doomed to repeat. A perpetual cycle, on and on and on. Catatonic. Emaciated. All this pain that you have created.

That riff from 3:11 onwards is fucking insane..... I literally had to stop and go back to hear it again to try to wrap my head around it. Unbelievable playing
Yep... that section took the song to another level for me
Holy Crap. This riff is not human.
Fckng yes!
Check out his cover for the part ruclips.net/video/2NTBP-W8IEI/видео.html
this song has been on repeat for months just because of 3:11
Every Erra song is so good in this album.

As a consumer of music I'm not sure what UNFD does, but all i know is bands that end up affiliated with them sound flawless.
i think its the lack of what they do, and let their artists make the music they want
great record label
ERRA, LMTF... Their last album's just sounds amazing
It's that Aussie water. They're making their American bands chug it.
Them and SHARPTONE are absolutely killing our metalcore scene. It’s flawless
So I've literally never even HEARD of ERRA before this song.
Oh my fucking God.
These guys just came out of nowhere, hit me with a sledgehammer, and jumped to the top of my list.
Check out their album Augment from 2013. It has a different vocalist and other guitarist, but it's also amazing. Plus their last 2 albums between have been amazing.
Welcome to the party✨. You’ll be here for a loooooong time
Check out Impulse and Augment.... Class leading years ahead of it´s competition. Each song of those two albums has a SOUL
I remember the first time I saw erra it was with August burns red when they did the phantom anthem tour. It was one year after drift came out and I didnt know who they were but they blew me away and I have been a huge fan ever since.
One of us! One of us!
Stupid good
Looks like ya'll have some AOTY competition ;)

@@davidhume4566 except they’re nowhere close to being in the same genre lol...
This drummer is INSANELY underrated. Good lord.
Im 35 years old, and this song made me feel like I was in my mid 20s again.... LET'S GOOOOOOOOO
As someone nearing 30, this was oddly comforting to read lmao
Exactly! It felt like they took the spirit of all those legendary metalcore bands from the early 2000s and put it in one song.
I'll second this
Every song on the album slaps, this one genuinely made me tear up. First piece of music in years thats made that happen, absolute banger
Get hyped man! I'm about to be 31 and this made me feel like I was 14 discovering metal core all over again!
insane how good this song is, that’s fucking perfect.
Well the guitar player said, they wanted to mix misery signals and saoson 🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻
WHAT THE HECK JUST HAPPENED?!?!?! I’m so freaking glad they saved this one for the album and didn’t make it a single. I mean this is just utter perfection... gotta go change my undies now 😅
_Modernity seems to amplify_
_The boundaries of your heart_
_You try going back when you mean to restart_
_And the foundation falls apart_
I mean it's not all about the chugs and progression. The lyrics are amazing as well.
Erra has really done something a lot of bands seem to fail to do. They are starting to look at their songs as a whole; not just separate instruments playing together. They are working on creating sonic themes with their music. They're thinking in 3D about concepts, and using all their amazing talent to fill the parts of it.
If you look at this song alone, there are a few amazing things about it, especially when you look at the lyrics. Bear in mind, this song is about breaking a cycle. Personally I think it relates to a gang lifestyle and trying to get out, but regardless, let's just look at the "breaking the cycle" theme /abusive relationship etc
Let's look at that amazing guitar section at 3:11 "Reset the pattern doomed to repeat." It sure does repeat, but it's slightly different the second time. This fits with someone trying to change that cycle of abuse and pain, but it stays mostly the same regardless of your efforts. It's doomed to repeat.
Afterwards is the most amazing part. "A perpetual cycle On and on and on" but then it stops. Great! the cycle is broken! Just kidding! It pulls you right back into the brutality, much like any abusive relationship or lifestyle. This could be drugs gangs violence relationships you name it. Then the final lyrics "Catatonic, emaciated All this pain that you have created", repeated from before, talk about the pain you will cause from not breaking the cycle of abuse. You now continue it because you couldn't get out. Such a psychologically true, yet tragic idea.
This is without mentioning the obvious machine gun-esque double kick parts throughout the song. Deliberate. I guarantee you.
It's really beautiful. This band is playing chess while most bands today are playing checkers. Mark my words when I tell you that this will go down in history and lay the landscape for hundreds of bands to follow.
i hope Jesse sees this, man! he loves hearing about fan interpretations of songs and wants to keep it open and alive for us, i loved your take on it!!
Thanks for this comment bro
This entire song is a roller coaster of hnnngg moments
Erra cannot make a bad album. This is a different level of good man.
Sadly, I can't really seem to get into their first two efforts (is a me-porblem, I know), but from Drift to Neon to ERRA they've only gotten better and better...
@@mitchwijnen9975 Impulse and Augment are perfect albums, I seriously hope one day you can see the beauty in them friend. Only took me about 3-5 listens each to fully understand and appreciate them.

I THREW MY DESK AFTER THE FIRST BREAKDOWN CHILL
Has anyone notice that
"USER HAS EXPERIENCED AUDITORY EXCITEMENT FOR X:XX:XX"
Damn right, ERRA, even before I click on this video, I already got chills from excitement.
bruh, this is the best band in the scene rn
polaris though
Polaris is great but no one can top Erra. Can you imagine if Jesse used a Floyd Rose to add to what he plays on the guitar! 🙄🤔😉🤘
Hands down, anyone that disagrees can fight me. Not to mention I have seen them in concert multiple times, met them and they are so humble and genuine good people. 🙏

@@zeroprogressive - good call. I just think the pace and energy of Gungrave is so dialed. Atmospheric but chuggy. I dig it all!

Fuck that was so hard lmfao. Been an erra fan since 2013 and this shit is honestly one of their top tiers. Fuckin damn that slapped.
IMO this album sits right beside Augment as their best ever. Jesse is a true wizard.

When music is new but it feels familiar. It's like finding a puzzle piece you didnt know was missing. Best part of marching into the future is finding stuff like this along the way.
So happy to see these guys continue to grow. Been following them since the first album in 2010. They never disappoint. Love this band
This whole record is fire. But this track is definitely one of the best heavy Erra-songs so far. Though it has its softer moments, this is simply so edgy and organic at its core. More please!
