Lyrics:
Interlaced fingers. The locking of hands.
Omnipotence entwined with man.Alteration before conception.
The pretense to coalescence to form this imperfect plan.
Unconsciously bound to one another. Liberated emotions are becoming smothered.
Dynamics of the absolute contort our narrow view. We were not meant for this hybrid birth.
Inhumanity crowns the Earth. This hybrid birth.
Momentum is your venom. Clinging to progress, we embrace the toxin.
Children of the ancients, you've forgotten innocence.
Unkept instincts, enslaved, inefficient. We were not meant for this hybrid birth.
Inhumanity crowns the Earth. Designer of mystification.
Imposer upon a fit creation. Momentum is your venom.
Clinging to progress, we embrace the toxin.
Children of the ancients, you've forgotten innocence.
Unkept instincts, enslaved, inefficient. Inhumanity crowns the Earth.
Momentum is your venom. Children of the ancients, you've forgotten innocence.
Enslaved, inefficient. They breathe with us.
They've bred with us. They are self-proclaimed behemoths.
Bound by our own desire. Seduced and expired.
Self-proclaimed behemoths. Bound by our own desire.
Seduced and expired.

Hey guys, this is Adam, Erra's old bassist.
This song is actually about the Old Testament story of the Niphilim. Really interesting story, and its pretty metal.
So stoked on this album, I can't wait to see my best friends do huge things after this release!
What happens to guys like you? 7 years late and I imagine you in a mansion like a child star collecting royalties. But sadly you're probably doing a regular job. But there was this one day this one moment when you saw this. Or someone else did. And it was pretty awesome.
@@ColeVickSheepShearer bruh they weren't making that much from this, they were working normal jobs back then too
@@LNKSonRUclips because mega millions weren't favorable to me. If I ever won. My tour would be insane
@@ColeVickSheepShearer bruh you can become a millionaire within a few years. Anyone can its not even hard. Bro do you even crypto?
@@patriotstreammedia3635 i was 32 working my life away right when ths boom started. None of my friends were smart or connected. So I toil away dreaming of riches I'll never see. Respectfully. But if someone taught me. I'd know. And maybe. Maybe i could make that killswitch engage light the torch mix up tour with the complete volumes matchup including Mike Kyle and Michael Barr. Maybe fly in the current set of Windrunner from Vietnam for a tour.
Dude that solo is so fucking tasty.
I was listening to this once and my brother who isn't into hardcore music, from the next room was like..."That's ill!" lol
Yeah it was! I want seconds!
First time hearing this, I felt alive 😂
2:58
Jesus dude, this is easily the most badass solo I've heard.
personal record?
hi again
Check out tracedawn without walls the full version.
SAME
Its one I keep on repeat. I love the lyrics too. That's why spirits away will always be my favorite and the song that turned me on to these guys.
An 8 yrs old song. Still more evergreen and dynamic than many other modern metal songs. Erra will always be ERRA!
i love all Erra but fucking Augment forever
2:46 - 3:32 is definitely one of the best moments in metal music
i normally HATE high pitch singing but for some strange reason i fucking love jesse's singing.
Same😧
I started out not liking it, now it's daily.
Still my favorite band.
Plaguebob I was just stating that I understand where people are coming from when they say that it is "generic". Nonetheless, I love this fucking band. My favorite atm! :)
San DIego:
:?
I found out about these guys through the metalcore subreddit a couple years ago. They have been a favorite every since. Glad to see another fan!
In Cincinnati? I saw these guys live four weeks back on that tour. They played this song excellently. They weren't well received by the crowd though, unfortunately :/
Shit. That would be 8 weeks ago for you. I'm hungover.
Jesse Cash is a beast.
Those clean vocals, and the guitar playing skills.
I love how audible and present the bass is in the song.
Ryan Merica ohh I get it
They don't have a bass player, but their second guitar player downtunes
Edward Lund what? that made no musical sense
trey from invent animate has been filling in for them on bass for months, and when they have no bass player they run bass tracks live
the guitars are always in drop A# or G# depending on the song
Adrian Lopez hes being serious its awesome tone
Mitch Hazel
i know I was just trolling
2:58 GIVES ME CHILLS like literally my whole body tingles every time i hear that guitar solo
Sarah Lloyd tell me about it! makes me just want to close my eyes, even though I shouldn't because I'm driving.
same
same here Sarah lol
Sarah Schroeder same!! It's even better live!!!
I was watching porn.. Then I saw this... And continued to beat it to the solo lol
Fucking beautiful, heavy, complicated, varied, and just plain perfect. It's hard listening to bands like this and then some more simplistic band. Too much talent to comprehend in this band!
Maybe I'm the only one who can listen to both complex and simplistic bands. But I'll be honest, I think that most bands with complex music sound terrible. The reason why is because it doesn't suit my taste. I'm more into breakdowns, simplistic melodies, choruses, etc. Plus I don't like to think when I'm listening to music, I just want to listen to music I enjoy. ERRA and Northlane are an exception in my book so far and I'm sure I'll find other bands with a progressive taste to them, but I'm more into metalcore now. Maybe that'll change someday, who knows!
Actually I'm always the one saying how I can't believe how critical people are of music haha, I only meant it as ERRA is amazing. I also love a lot of more simplistic metal as well. I'm a huge fan of what you'd call metalcore, although I don't usually use terms like that. I'm always stunned by how much hatred goes towards most bands. I love variety! From asking Alexandria to Molotov solution to I see stars to the holy guile. I could name WAY too many! A few recommendations I would give that you may not have heard of would be Ghost Man on First, Bruised but Not Broken, Darkness Divided, Death of an Era, In Dying Arms, Paradise in Exile, Periphery, Upon this Dawning. Huge variety there!
Dylan S I'm open to different bands and different music as well. I enjoy bands such as Asking Alexandria, I See Stars, Bring Me The Horizon, Thy Art Is Murder, Northlane, Of Mice & Men, Crosses, City In The Sea, Confession, Parkway Drive, Stick To Your Guns, Breathe Carolina, Dayshell, etc. Quite a few of them are metalcore/post-hardcore bands and all the others are different. Why? Not because I'm trying to show off how open minded I am but because I actually enjoy their music. Also, I've heard of Death Of An Era, In Dying Arms, Periphery, and Upon This Dawning and I just can't seem to get into them. That's just me though! Even though I love Parkway Drive, I don't like August Burns Red. I think Sleeping With Sirens is good, but Pierce The Veil I can't enjoy at all. I love Asking Alexandria and Of Mice & Men, but I think that Black Veil Brides and Falling In Reverse suck balls. And it's not because I want to differ from the scene crowd, it's because they write songs that I don't like.
As for the other bands you listed, I'll give them a try. Thanks for suggesting them to me!
Man, isn't it funny how you can like one band and hate another similar one? I agree with you on almost all of what you said! It's too bad you don't enjoy some that I mentioned but I like most of what you listed as well. Maybe check out Death of an Era again since they recently released an amazing full length album! Aside from that I think you may like some of the others for sure :) I gotta say, it's badass having someone actually have a conversation about what we like and comparing bands instead of the usual hateful crap you get on RUclips.
Few more I have on my iPod: Architects, Betraying the Martyrs, Boris the Blade, Capture the crown, For All Those Sleeping, Indirections, Silent Screams, Volumes. I know I love finding new music so hopefully you find a new band you love throughout these!
This was definitely the best era of Erra miss this stuff
Yes man! I've enjoyed every album except Neon. But this is the crown jewel
Impulse and augment is their best stuff
Easily one of the most underrated bands in the scene today. Great vocals, clean and screams. Guitars are great, same with the drums.
The Clean vocals suck bro
NatiReviews L
That high scream after the solo is fucking everything 😫 Gives me chills.
me too. i didn't understand how people could miss garrison more than they enjoy JT but now i understand
The early mid 2000s screams
@@mylife1221JT is bland, same as Marcus in Northlane compared to Adam
@yelonasable if JT actually used more of his range, I'd enjoy modern ERRA a lot more. but in most songs, he only uses mids and it's really disappointing because I know he can make more than just one sound
@@mylife1221 He’s a very boring, one dimensional vocalist. I’m starting to think they hired him because they wanted to go the mainstream route, and his vocals are sort of radio friendly
1 MIL LES GO. the song that originally got me into ERRA!
Thank you for discovering erra for me, THATS the best metalcore band I've ever heard
Fuck ya bro keep killing the fire mage. Augment is something that holds a place in our hearts
@@clarkh3314 will always be my favorite album. Newer stuff is more technical, but damn the nostalgia for this album and impulse will always be in the deepest part of my heart.
it's like eating potato chips. I could listen to this all day
I could listen to potato chips all day too.
@@CoDisafishy yeah but the sounds a bit *FLAT* and they use to much *crunchy* distortion
erra is defined by this crazy ass riff style that jesse has like the transition at 4:00-4:03 so unique and its through their whole discography
You can hear similar riffage in bands like HAARP machine, periphery, the contortionist, but erra definitely has a crazy take on it
I know exactly what you are talking about! I t is what initially drove me to want to keep listening.
Within The Ruins do the same thing. Absolute Hell is a track You HAVE to check out!!!
I've already been rocking that album for days!
Ghost Atlas, Jesse's side project. not metal, more like Saosin but still awesome.
I miss Andromeda, Impulse and Augment Erra everyday. Such great albums. I really miss Adam, Garrison and Alan :/
HooliganR6
same man .. not that current ERRA is bad or awful, I just love the Impulse days and sound of ERRA
Hard same
I miss the old line up ..
It's the irreplaceable sound that the lineup creates. It can be mimicked to almost perfection except in the feels. You cant replace it. Not now, not ever. Same as you can't replace the newer melody with the old.
@@ColeVickSheepShearer invent, the architect, vaalbara, spirits away, rebirth, this song, isolation blue, fuck. nothing like that sound.
Welp. That's it, I guess. Erra wrote the perfect song. I guess we can stop listening to music now?
Definitely one of their best songs. I jam so hard to this.
Garrison (the "screamer") left ERRA. I can't stop crying.
I sure hope the new vocalist can fill his shoes!
his name is garrison and it sucks
:c
dude you better fucking be joking. where did you hear that?!?!?!
sergio roberts On their facebook man :(
Rui Carneiro yeah i read it, the fuuuuuuuuck man that sucks big time. i did not see that coming at all, Augment was so incredible. biggest disappointment of the year.
I fucking love this song. The whole album is exceptional. I'm not sure what you guys are talking about when saying this is 'generic'. I don't hear anything generic about it. Progressive metalcore is what I'd call it.
Absolutely my favorite guitar solo ever. It gives me chills how the rest of the band just stops for a moment and leaves Jesse shredding alone. Fucking glorious.
And then it ends with a high fry scream, amazing
3:30 is the coolest drum fill
They just keep improving, this album is perfect.
we need more girls who liking metal. Thanks...
FIXY N I guess I can say I'm pretty cool :p
***** Hahaha
***** haha well, thank you!
***** Lol, I can't believe you hit on someone calling them a cutie pie. Good luck buddy.
When you connect with these lyrics on the same spirtual level they were written for, the song holds an extremely powerful meaning. Erra is simply an amazing and influential band.
Its cool how they take you away with their music, each song has an atmosphere of some sort, which along with the lyrics, creates a world that you can imagine in your head.
what was your interpretation of the song?
Sahil Vaidya I think it makes the allusion to the time of the Nephilim. When he says "we were not meant for this hybrid birth, inhumanity crowns the earth" I think its saying that humans cannot breed with spiritual beings because of the differences of creation and the differences of existence. Thats what I can deduce from it.
***** that's basically what I had in mind, you worded it perfectly. I just love the way Erra puts those thoughts and ideas into there songs.
Ben Misanovic These guys are masters of their craft. These lyrics are so metaphorical and make allusions to certain things, but word it in such a way that it makes the listener think about the story in the lyrics. I love bands that do this. I love metaphorical lyrics.
i still fw this y’all
I was one of the guitar players in Even Idols Die, when Mike found Gary I was blown away by his scream, especially his range. Watching the growth of ERRA has been crazy. Keep the tunes coming.
I almost forgot how hard this song slaps. Can't wait to see these dudes on tour in a couple months
Dat Fit For a King tank tho
fit for a tank
Corey Tuccelli OOF
Is the lead singer wearing a Fit For A King shirt? If so that's pretty great! Two amazing bands!
Yeah Erra and Fit For A King toured together a few years back, even Jesse Cash came on stage on a Fit For a King song and did guest vocals live I think.
That synth that comes in the background at 2:12 🖤
Amazing tune. 3:12 "YYYYYY YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
i know. Garrison was fucking immense.
its so sad that he left, best vocalist they ever had
Jaw yes, garrison was amazing but I think JT Cavey fits the sound of the band better. Im sure you'll grow to like him
Dustin Roe yeah but the sound has also changed quite a bit, i still prefer this older, more technical and heavier ERRA. i dont still hate drift, it's good that they try different things, and JT definitely fits the newer style better than Garrison would.
Jaw yeah, I'm not gonna lie, I like the old erra better. it's crazy how bands change and progress so much like erra.
The best original sole I've herd since Hendrix changed peoples opinions on what a solo is ......this solo has so much feeling it makes when I hear it......It actually walks on water!!
9 year later, this still crushes.
Erra has evolved so much, but somehow even the old stuff is so coherent considering how much the track progresses. They never sound like they’ve just thrown 20 ideas together and called it a song.
"We were not meant for this hybrid.. Birth" *Destroys Universe*
hybrid... BIRD
God I miss Garrison's vocals
Allan please comeback !
6 years past, no one has made a better song yet.
Album*
Jesus Christ this band is good!! Everything they put out gives me goosebumps! \m/
This actually gave me goosebumps. No other band does this to me.
i can give you goosebumps:3
why does everyone creep on the poor girls on youtube.
Austin Bryant I wonder the same thing, it's really sad.
THIIIIIS HYBRIIIID…… GIRTH
Tbh....one of the most beautiful, talented, and incredibly different solos I’ve ever heard in my whole entire life.
i remember i was going to a show years ago and erra was on the lineup. didn't know who they were so i asked a friend who knew of them. he said "yea, they're pretty good". so i checked them out, and for the next 8 or 9 months erra was all i really gave a shit to listen to. turned out "pretty good" was a pretty big understatement in my eyes lol
I've listened to this song so often, but after not listening to it for a while this feels kinda nostalgic. It's so good im crying idk.
the best work of erra .
That breakdown is tough as fuck. This hybrid.. BIRTH.
this might be my favourite erra song right now. garrison's performance is just out of this world, the lows becoming highs leading into the chorus then that big scream at 3:12 are just unbelievable
hybrid..... BARFFF
In this scene of modern metal, these guys really stand above the rest.
Metal just reached a new level that no other genre will ever reach. Period
Whatever I have just discovered.....honestly may have just entered my top 10 bands at least. I hear Misery Signals, Saosin in the cleans, August Burns Red at times, and a beautiful Periphery and Volumes type atmosphere. In short, holy shit.
this song is the greatest thing that has entered my ears. thank you, erra.
STILL HARD IN 2022!
The screamer is totally wearing a Fit For A King tank... love it. \m/
found myself a new fav band.
My thoughts on listening to Augment.
Play counts(roughly for whole album):
Number 1 - This is alright nothing amazing.
Number 20 - I should really listen to this more its pretty good.
Number 80 - I can't believe i haven't moved onto a new album yet, I'm still really into this.
Number 150 - ERRA is my favorite band of all time.
My point is anyway this is the kind of music that takes multiple listens to fully appreciate, but its also what makes it so good.
So for anyone searching RUclips suggestions for new music I would definitely recommend giving ERRA a good long listen too.
2:12 always gives me goosebumps, so good! And is that a Fit For a King shirt?! \m/
the most inspirational guitar solo for me growing up as a musician
Holy shit.. how did i never hear of this band
Heard of Breakdown at Tiffany's? Thank me later
Just saw these guys last week on the frozen flames tour with august burns red and they blew me away! So good
Fuck. Your making me anticipate their visit to my city so much more now.. Do their cleans sound good live?
Yeah Jesse was actually really good live. They played flawlessly in my opinion
Evan Garr Awesome. Thanks! Glad you had fun. :)
No problem! Which show are you planning on going to?
Hansol Holy shit it's Hansol. ERRA are amazing live dude.
3:00 ERRAgasm
When I heard a new album was being released, I didn't think you guys would come close to topping impulse. Because impulse was AMAZING, but this new album has already blown my mind, and we have only heard 3 songs........Great job guys.
Favorite band. Hands down.
The clean vocal reminds me of Joel Pier, from Confide.
Amazing guitars
Amazing vocals
Just wish The screamer didn't leave and the singer could match the record live!
+Arron Carter They are missing Alan, the riff master :/
have you heard the new song, definitely agree... aha
Arron Carter Yes, the song is fine, a bit slow and that amount of tapping wasn't necessary. Check Alan's project with his wife called The Artificials. Soon dropping a full length. The EP was amazing!
I checked it and wasn't a huge fan, didn't initially grab me because i didn't like the screams, i'll give it another go at some point though!
+Arron Carter It had it's flaws ofc, home studio and the drums were typed. But the album will rule, trust me.
デスボとサウンドがマッチしてて最高❤
Erra has been my best find of the year, besides volumes. These dudes are crazy.
not sure why aarongtr180 is complaining. Meshuggah plays progressive metal and a majority of their songs involve opens or triplets on odd measures, The prog behind this band is their rhythm structure - the songs are still 4/4, and the scales are relatively popular, but their focus on rhythm has given them the "progressive" stamp. And as far as vocals go, I can hear the post-hardcore side, but I can also hear the metal edge; I like it personally, but with elitists you never win because you'd complain that it's generic if it sounded like Dio, but gay and boy-bandish if it's something new.
"Their focus on rhythm has given them the progressive stamp".
Emmure utilizes even more intricate rhythmic patterns in their songs, so I guess they're a prog band too? Lol.
There are plenty of new metal bands that don't use whiny clean vocals. My beef with metalcore is that it seems like metal and hardcore combined with pop, hence why a lot of metalcore fans are really into pop-punk and post-hardcore as well.
That's subjective. I think Emmure's rhythm does in fact follow 4/4 in linear fashion. And what is wrong with enjoying a broad range of music and applying it to your tastes/composition? There's a threshold you pass when you're a musician of age; it's when you stop spending your time being upset about widely popular music, and accept it and appreciate all forms of music for what they are. I'm not saying I'm an avid Chief Keef listener, or that I twerk nightly, but I know those people enjoy (for whatever reason) that form of music so good for them. God bless the USA.
It ain´t getting much better than this guys ...
Called it 6 years ago lol. They are still on top of the game though. God damn.
AUGMENT TILL THE DAY I DIE. no album will ever beat it.
You guys deserve to be so much bigger, hoping this album gets you the recognition you deserve so you can stick around and let people listen to your awesome music.
Este tema es de una genialidad extraordinaria
Jesse never ceases to amaze me, seriously are there any other metalcore bands with melodies and riffs as unique as ERRA ? Hope they continue to evolve, they're too good to stick to one genre.
Alex Ballew man, so good. Definitely one of the most under rated drummers in the genre. Can't wait to hear his chops on the new record.
These lyrics are powerful. Can I just bring that to everyone's attention
A family member of mine told me that Miley Cyrus is extremely talented and bands like ERRA are not as talented as her. I asked why and he gave me the worst answer possible.
Apparently, popularity = talent!
How illogical...
you surely must have meant to say "she gave me the worst answer possible" right? RIGHT!?
ChrisHarford Nope! It was a "he".
EpitaphNoeeki Lol chill dude! If someone enjoys a certain genre that I hate, I have nothing against them. Good for you, you like Miley Cyrus' music! Nothing wrong with that in my opinion. But if you're going to say that a band or artist is talented just because they're popular, then there's a problem! That's what my comment was talking about. Perhaps the popular artists out there are extremely talented (writing music and all), but popularity has NOTHING to do with talent. Not by a long shot!
EpitaphNoeeki You should stop looking through a small hole in the wall. You completely misread the comment OP left
I saw these guys back in 2014 with Reflections and Veil of Maya. They were fucking awesome, but sadly the crowd was not in their favor. The crowd applauded and all, but they spaced themselves away from the stage. There was still a big cluster jumping and moshing (me included), but when I got out to get a drink, I saw most of the audience standing far away and staring. At least they were good to Reflections and Veil of Maya.
This has been annoying me for a long time. Why is it that when people go to shows, they only go crazy when THEIR band is on stage? After Erra finished, I was asking my friends why most people weren't moshing like when Reflections was on, and some chick walks up and says, "We're saving our energy for the bands we know. No one knows who Erra is, but they were really good." Seriously? You like them enough to applaud, but not enough to be close to the stage and have fun? This is the same thing that happened at the Anthrax/Volbeat concert. Nobody did anything for Anthrax, but did everything for Volbeat! I just don't get people.
Doomslayingrocker how the fuck are people gonna go crazy for Volbeat and not do shit for Anthrax?
Doomslayingrocker fuck man, when i flew to toronto to see erras headliner, i moshed too hard to auras then was so weak when erra came out lul. amazing set list erra had tho. so incredible.
I have read them many times.. I actually jammed to Impulse for like 3 months straight haha. so i thought i had the lyrics understood. But i'll still do it again. Thanks for actually replying to my messages! It's quite exciting to be able to talk to someone who played in a band that I pretty much ate and breathed for so long lol.
This was one of my favorite songs on the album. So it was great to see a video for it. "Children of the ancients, you've forgotten innocence." Love the lyrics, love the vocals, love the definitive sound, and that explosion in there definitely stimulates. I enjoy you guys fully. One of my favorite bands at the moment.
Ah, this is the erra that I remember... Maybe it's Garrison's vocals that did it for me idk.
JT just doesn`t hit the spot like garrison did :/

that solo then scream gets me every time...eeeeaaahhhhhhh!!!
I think it's awesome how he's wearing a Fit for a king shirt and he's going to be playing with them lol that's awesome
The bassist looks like Bjorn Strid from Soilwork
3:00 released dopamine!!
Going on a erra augment journey started from the first song of the album and now here i am. This is the first song i can honestly say holy crap that was heavy and good and decent metalcore all alround. The other somgs arent bad this one just stands out like crazy. 10/10 for me. And being a christian the message is sick as well. Because i know the lore.
That solo jesse is just looking at his hand thinking how the fuck am I playing this so clean, augment is the best
where is this band from? what I like bout there sound is they sound a bit like Sirens & Sailors ^^, I like everything bout this band ^^
Jay Cruz Birmingham, Alabama
fucking masterpiece
This band is amazing. I've been following Erra since their first album and they never seem to disappoint! Great job!
Why isn't this band more popular?
Loved this. Clean vocals often ruin the punch and attitude of the song, but In my opinion, they fit this song perfectly!
different strokes man... I woulde love this band so damn much (love the screams, love the riffs)... but I feel the cleans actually do ruin some of the songs aggression. Im very picky I guess. Songs like 'Seven' though, oh dear god, amazing.
Thierry Blondin-Rivest I would just call it Raked Natural Harmonics.
what is the clean actually?sorry im new to this scene..
piji00 the 'clean vocals' refers to parts the vocalist is singing clearly, when other vocal parts are screams and growls.
owh, now i know..thanks!
Agosto 2019?
Good on you to keep supporting your friends man! Good luck in your new endeavors.
discovering it again 9 years after, still a masterpiece, thanks a lot!!!!
proper metalcore
This isn't metalcore yo
correct me if I'm wrong, but is this categorized as melodic deathcore?
+Nick Galbreath i see them more like prog metalcore.
These guys are prog. Melodic deathcore would be like Children of Bodom or Heaven Shall Burn I guess.
COB is melo death metal
I miss this screamer
Yep. He even leaned off stage and kissed my head at Rocketown in Nashville. Was almost a year and a half ago and I haven't forgotten it. Dat showmanship.
i love the cleans.. i love everything about this band!
