This was my first Kirby game in nearly a decade, and I absolutely loved it. Just such a fun, chill experience, but surprisingly challenging in some parts too. I especially loved some of the late-game boss fights, honestly some of the best bosses in any 3D-platformer I've ever played.
This was my first Kirby game I played in a while, and they really hit this one out of the park. It's easy enough for the more casual gamer but there are some parts that get really challenging as well, like completing the treasure road challenges in the suggested time and the Ultimate Z Cup. Also a great soundtrack - Northeast Frost Street is also one of my favorites too.
This is the first game my kiddo decided she wanted to buy with her own earned money. She is LOVING it. Great experience for old and new gamers to come together over. Especially when the new gamers need some tips. Its so fun.
Great review! We've just entered the postgame and are really enjoying it. I've had a few minor frustrations with challenges on particular courses that you can't know until you've missed them (like defeating a midboss with a certain copy ability), but replaying courses is fast and fun anyway. I also would have liked a bit more variety in the copy abilities, but the Mouthful Modes do a great job of mixing up the gameplay. Exploring has been so much fun and scratched that collectathon itch I haven't felt since Mario Odyssey.
It's hard to match the charm of a Kirby game, and Forgotten Land is a great reminder of that. The only game that comes close that comes to mind is Captain Toad Treasure Tracker. The soundtrack is one of the best in the series in my opinion, and that's saying a lot considering the OST's to Adventure, Super Star and Air Ride. My only real gripe with the game is that it gets less and less colorful as the game goes along. After playing the last several worlds of the game for hours, and then going back to worlds 1 through 3, it's just like "Yes! COLOR!" Such a gorgeous game
I'm thinking of getting Kirby and the Forgotten Land as a birthday gift this year so I could have a Switch game present since the rest of the games that I'm want are on PC via Steam. Nice video btw!
If I had one gripe about the game, it's that I wish the boss battles were a bit more creative. The characters themselves are fun, but every boss battle is just a flat arena with no variance, and it's usually just a matter of "run out of the way of the attack"
_pushes glasses_ ACTUALLY, the first Kirby game with 3D gameplay was Air Ride on the GameCube, and then more recently there was Blowout Blast (an expanded version of 3D Rumble into a full game). But yes, this is the first _mainline_ game in 3D
3d rumble did get a full spinoff on 3ds called Blowout blast, the only kirby game i've played. I think battle royale on 3ds is also similarly 3d topdown like that so that's 2 full games, not side modes that came before Forgotten land. I'd actually love Kirby Battle Royale to come to switch, love it's artstyle
Hey I’d actually play this. People making out it was an open world/sandbox put me off so good to hear it’s more linear than that with room to wander off the beaten path.
I probably still need sometime to digest the game to say how I feel it fares up with the rest of the franchise, but I did quite like my first playthrough, I was particularly surprised at some of the more explorative side objectives in some of the stages. I was a bit disappointed by the post game and the total amount of powerups, and I was sort of hoping the game would be a world or 2 longer when I saw my completion rate was only at like 55% by the time I beat the last normal stage of the main campaign, but it still was about the length of what you'd expect from a game of this franchise. Hopefully whenever this gets a sequel they can further expand on the amount of copy abilities or how much you can do with them. There's a few other small things, like how I wish after beating a stage you could just quit it after completing a side objective, or how the game could do better at hinting those side objectives, unlocking only one at a time every time you clear a stage feels tedious. I'd have preferred if they just told you all the ones you missed after clearing a stage or none at all so you just have to figure it out on revisits, hell, just have them as some paid service of the wise waddle dee to spend your stars on. But they're just that, small, not too important. I wish I knew wise waddle dee could be talked to without having Nintendo online before checking a guide on where was the last scroll that I was missing, ah well, that Nintendo online pop up always made me feel it was a feature I couldn't access to for some reason.
Bravo 👏🏾 Couldn’t agree more. HAL knocked it out the park. A mouthful of fun indeed 😂 Those timed challenges be killing me sometimes 🤬 Currently in Redgar Forbidden Lands stage.
It's definitely better then Planet Robobot. It's not just polishing Kirby but EVOLVING Kirby. Something Planet Robobot did not do as another RtDL style game with Kirby Super Star powers . Good game but THIS is what I wanted.
It's a rather short game. BUT for what it's worth, there is TONS to do after the credits roll. Which is what I'm going through new and boi is it tough!!
Great review! I still haven't finished this one, but it's the most fun I've had with a platformer since super mario odyssey. Great rpg coverage on this channel, maybe check out xenoblade chronicles 3! keep gaming stay awesome
Kirby in the post-apocalypse? Last of us style overgrown cities? People getting eaten? Ok that last one is normal. Kirby: The Road (because he's a car)
I enjoyed the demo, but I'll get this down the line when it gets a 60fps patch for the next Switch. This game feels like it was meant to be played at that framerate.
I was really disappointed coming off Star Allies but this looks fantastic. Great review, I'm currently playing thru Star Ocean but this is one of my most wanted of 2022
I was completely unaware Planet Robobot was considered the best in the series. Up until this entry, I personally thought Kirby Super Star was the top title.
@@PelvicGaming I understand, I guess I've been out of the loop in terms of Kirby in recent times. But it definitely looks like The Forgotten Land might be taking the crown based on your review, which by the way excellent work and you look stunning.
@@PelvicGaming and that kids is what having differing opinions looks like. And the world still turns. I think the 3ds titles were better. I don't know, there was something just missing from this title for me. It's not a bad game at all it was just ok to me.
It blows my mind that nintendo, in 2022, is allowed to release games that look like they came out 25 years ago and even run worse. And get away with it.

“Kirby’s Mom” lol. Love that! This game totally flew by me. Now that the early rush of 2022 is behind us I might have to come back to this one!

Damn, you got this out quick. Not calling it rushed in the slightest, just, you work fast. I'm impressed.

Hell yes, everyone agrees Northeast Frost Street is the best level music.
Really?? Hooray I'm in the cool kids club!
I would say it's a perfect game in the purest sense of the word!

This kirby review is as precious as forgotten land! Great video

I love your reviews pelvic I wonder if you would ever a consider doing a making of a Pelvic review video.

Good grief, you know we're talkin' MAINLINE
I've been eyeing this game for a while now, and I have to say, Kirby does surprisingly well in 3D.
It really does~! It was fun from start to finish!
Awesome review. Playing it right now and I agree with everything, amazing game.
Honestly didn't need to watch this, as I'm already playing it but I had to be sure Kirby's mom approved.

Oh yeah, no not at all. I thought it was gonna be truly open world, it's not. At all. It's bite sized with the illusion of freedom!
@@PelvicGaming nice. Kirby’s one of the only games I like to 100% so good to know.
I hear the next GTA will have a mouthful mode as well.

We stan Kirby in this household
Ah, the wonders of mouth stuffing powers 😁

Pelvic is a Nintendo Stan. She never shows love to other consoles or games not from Nintendo. I thought Pelvic would love Elden Ring.
Now we need a Kirby Odyssey
i just fell in love
Excellent review!!!
Excellent video, I love Kirby!
I FREAKING LOVE THIS GAME
ME TOO
I guess Kirby's air ride isn't the first 3d game because it's a racing game.
Exactly
I don't think Planet Robobot is widely considered to be the best Kirby game. I think Super Star is
I was completely unaware Planet Robobot was considered the best in the series. Up until this entry, I personally thought Kirby Super Star was the top title.
Don't get me wrong SS is amazing. I suppose from what I've heard I've heard more praise from Robobot than SS. Especially of more recent Kirbys.

Thanks you so much! And yes I'm going through post game right now and wooooooooo boi!
Is it a stretch to say I’m having a crush on you? I mean, you are so good as a reviewer, and so sharp. ☺️
It’s an ok game. It’s beautiful, plays well, music is great but ultimately for me it was just a bit to easy.
I'd have to say it's BEYOND an okay game, it is on the easier side for sure, but easy game can be great. And this is a great example!
