    Great video. Used Silent coat before - good stuff. One thing to add is that if you van is fitted with seatbelt pretensioners don’t fill the cavity that houses the seatbelt assembly with wool/foam insulation. Potential fire risk in a crash.
    T5’s don’t have pretensioners as you guys know but I thought I’d mention it in case any of your viewers are doing different vans.

    About to deaden/insulate aT5 as a day van. From other videos it seems you are better using a roller to guarantee the Silent Coat is fully bonded to the panels instead of just using hand pressure. I spent most of this winter in a completely uninsulated van. Granted, temps in my area usually don't drop much below 4C, but, with a good sleeping bag, it's managable. Only reason I'd need insulation is for road noise during those times I'm "forced" to sleep on a relatively busy street (rather not wear earplugs).

    • @dirknoom4389
      @dirknoom4389 4 года назад

      You might want to consider wearing external ear protection. It limits your sleeping positions a bit, but it's more comfortable and easier to take on and off than earplugs. I find i t's usually better than trying to sleep with sound in the background.

    Once you add the fiber insulation to the back of the foil you remove it’s radiant properties making it useless except as a vapor barrier. Best to use foam spray and you can spray into cavities. You can’t beat foam for sound and thermal insulation. Check out the costs too.

    Hi! Love your videos, please keep em coming!
    Just one question. Approx how much silent coat is needed to make a proper sound deadening job on my VW T3 similar to the one you are doing in this video?

      Hi Huaba, to do walls, floors, doors, ceiling and cab, I would reccomend 3 bulk packs of the 2mm Sound deadening. You can buy the via www.combevalleycampers.com/products. Regards, Leigh

    my 2012 vw t5 has a factory black mat and substantially padded floor already in place. do you think I should rip it up and replace?

    Does it matter if you put the 10mm and 2mm in the other order as I have used the foam insulation and was wondering if I could put the 2mm mat on top of that.

    Thank you so much! What do you put over the Thermo Fleece as the final layer? Don't you need a moisture barrier? Or do you just place the cladding onto the Thermo Fleece?

    Hi, would that white insulation stuff trap the heat in really warm temperatures? Also what do you do about windows in the vehicle? Would you just use a reflecting product?

    Thanks for these handy dandy videos. With the deadening on the floor, how do you then fix batten down to take the ply floor?
    I want to avoid screwing into the base and have seen battens glued directly to metal body but if it has the deadening over will I be able to effectively adhesive the batten onto the foil back sound insulation? Cheers

    Brilliant videos! So with that compressible floor covering, would you not need to lay wooden batons down?
