    I got some dodo thermo insulation this week, it had brown paper on the back, instead of the plastic looking white paper he's peeling off. It's way more annoying to peel off because it rips easily and you then have to pull each little fiddly bit off. Adds way more time to the process. Look out for that

    Previous owner of my semi converted van used sound deadening on the roof as an insulator. I can report that in comparison with the thermoliner, sound deadening does not insulate 🤣 there's frost all over the ceiling except for a small strip where I replaced it with thermoliner. Good job i noticed before putting the ceiling up!

    It’s funny watching you guys all rugged up doing the insulation.
    I live in the tropics in Australia, & my old van is insulated to keep the heat out as we regularly travel through the outback in the 40s.
    I love watching your videos 👍

      I live in Mandurah, it's a little cooler, and I have no plan to visit hot places when they're hot. Haven't decided whether to insulate yet.

    Just putting my dodo thermoliner on. It's got a clear film on the back. It's really hard to use the line guides as the light bounces off it!

    @Combe Valley Campers Hi, thanks for all your fantastic videos, so helpful. I have some of this liner to line the walls and ceiling of my sprinter conversion. I have already put some sound deadening mat, now want to put this and then the bottle fleece as you suggest. In the sprinter though there are some areas, vertical struts?, where it will be impossible to get this into as only tiny holes. If I don't put it in here will that negate being a vapour barrier? Does a vapour barrier have to be non stop, all seems raped etc? Or can I put this in all the places I can and then just stuff bottle fleece into the area where I can't? Cheers Beccy

    Hey, great videos by the way really helpful for me as I'm just about to convert my crafter into an all season camper. Does the silver backing act as a radiant barrier and moisture barrier so you can just put ply over the top?
    I've watched another video from someone else where they said to add a gap of about an inch between ply and insulation to allow air flow?

    Spent a lot of the weekend I stalling sound deadening and the thermo liner pro on a SWB T5. 10m is just shy of the full job when doing the full back doors with no window. I need to find enough for the sliding door and opposite side bottom so about 12m would be perfect when doing the roof too. Haven’t touched the cab area yet either.

    How significant is this compared to 2mm sound deadening + fleece only?

    • @CombeValleyCampers
      @CombeValleyCampers  3 года назад

      Having both the sound deadening and the sound proofing layer makes a huge difference when it comes to long drives and even the daily commute. The 2mm panels stop the panels from resonating and booming and the soundproofing absorbs the more ambient drone of road noise and external influences. The thermo fleece is the insulation to fill the cavities, voids and retains the heat

    This may sound ridiculous but I am panicking that I didn't clean and degrease as thoroughly as I should have before applying the deadening mats. What is the worst thing that can happen if I didnt? I applied some over some old deadening and I'm not sure how spotless I got that.

    • @CombeValleyCampers

      Tbh, the sound deadening sticks very well. Unless the inside of your van was covered in oil, you should be fine

  • @JohnPhan1
    @JohnPhan1 7 месяцев назад +1

    I'd be more interested in the pros and cons of the "new" product and its features, not the install ... and you applying ontop of already lined vs. new installs ... gives one no basis of comparison to the old product or even competing products
