Learn how to cook steak perfectly every single time with this easy to follow recipe where steak is seared in a skillet on the stove and finished in the oven.
INGREDIENTS
2 beef steaks, at least 1-inch thick
2 teaspoons olive oil
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon white pepper
2 tablespoons softened butter
1-2 cloves garlic, minced
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Remove steaks from refrigerator and any packaging and let sit at room temperature for at least 30 minutes.
2. Rub each side with the olive oil to coat. Combine the salt, pepper, and onion powder in a small bowl. Rub both sides of each steak with the rub mixture.
3. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Preheat a heavy, oven-safe skillet over high heat until it is smoking hot. Sear steaks in the hot pan for 2-3 minutes per side. If the steak has a side of fat, turn the steak onto its side and render the fat by searing it for 2-3 minutes as well.
4. Slide the skillet with the seared steaks in it into the oven to finish cooking. Remove the steaks from the oven 5 degrees before the desired level of doneness is achieved, or 130 degrees F for medium rare.
5. While the steaks are cooking, use a fork to combine the butter with garlic in a small bowl.
6. When the steaks are removed from the grill, immediately top with 1 tablespoon of the butter mixture and allow the steaks to rest 10 minutes before cutting into them. The temperature of the steak will continue to rise as it rests by about 5 degrees.

Unfortunately, I don't recall exactly what he had originally typed, and he has since corrected it, so there's no way to know at this point. It's a mystery for the ages....

The Stay At Home Chef I really really liked your video!!
The Stay At Home Chef don’t listen to these hate comments those steaks look very delicious and well made
Thank you for being so detailed and keeping it short. I watched at least 4 of these videos and there's always some detail that's missing, like the heat of the pan or the part about rendering the fat. Thanks!
and cut it so we we inside.
OMG! It worked. I've been under seasoning. The garlic butter topping took it over the top. Wow that was tasty
Finally cooked steak for my kids last night and they approved. Recipe is simple although I wish I used more seasoning her measurments weren't enough 😅.
I agree spices are not enough!
One problem is you made stake instead of steak…

how high the temperature of oven and how long did you leave it inside the oven?
Thx very nice perfect God bless
Made it 😍
I wanna try this for my girlfriend and I's 2 year anniversary, and we both like medium cooked steaks, how long is that in the oven?? Like how long does the steaks take to finish cooking in the oven if we don't have a thermometer? And how long does it take for the skillet to be hot in the oven?? I need answers lol
It would not be possible for me to tell you that. It depends on the thickness of your steak, the exact temperature and time you seat it, and the accuracy of your oven.
I need to set a reminder for myself to preheat the oven to 375° F.

Steak and A1 sauce, and I'm good

If your old enough, get them to teach you how to cook. IF you can do it. It's kind of cool, and you eat better.
It is 100% clear that I need to give in and buy a cast iron skillet.
Nate Estelle it's worth it
It's actually not that expensive. Way cheaper than Stainless Steel
Buy that skillet!
Not just for steaks, but pancakes, too!
But how to remove rust i cast iron skillet?
@@shy.bautista steel wool and a little soap. season it with flax seed oil or canola oil in the oven.
Personal notes:
1. Rest steak to room temp. 30 minutes
Thaw frozen steak first
2. Thick steaks better
3. Olive oil, salt, pepper rubbed on steak
Then seared without added oil
4. Garlic and butter ontop after steak is cooked
5. Thermometer 130 degrees F in oven
6. 10 minutes rest for juices to absorb back
These aren’t even personal notes, they’re literally just what she did in the video
@@valor5138 ye i know i didnt wanna watch the whole video each time i cook

My absolute favourite steak when I was young was a seared sirloin that was then cooked in the oven on a bed of onions and also topped with onion and covered in foil, cooked for about 20 minutes on a high heat and it was just delicious.
Probably not the best way to cook a sirloin but for me it was just a tasty, lovely, moist, succulent, tender and easy meal that was "put in a pan to sear it, then pop in an oven tray and forget it for 20 minutes" and you got what to 12 year old me was the best steak imaginable.
Man that sounds amazing rn!!!
@@asanta2023 yo mama
I'm a boomer and remember when SIRLOIN was a tasty, mostly tender steak that middle class folks could enjoy. Sirloin can be good, but not as easily as it was. I'm STILL going to get steak though. LOL

Thanks to quarantine, I am now the professional chef that I always NEVER wanted to be..🤣
Duudde i made my first steak from this video and it came out juicy, and bursting with flavor. I followed instructions on preparing it but used this video as a beginning template and added my own seasonings and I'm 100% happy with the outcome. Thank you so much for this it's very easy and simple to follow.
Edit: i used a non stick pan instead of a skillet and transferred the meat to a baking pan lined with lightly seasoned olive oil as well.
Glad it came out great for you!
Liar
Just gotta know how to cook food lol
Without oven can we do steak I mean can I use air fryer ?please any one say
@@jamesrowan.g8667 yes! I used my air fryer too- and I will say that it will cook perfectly in there. I set my air fryer to 350° and put my steak in there for 30 minutes and flipped it at the 15 minute halfway mark. It came out medium rare 😊 warning though- I used a fat steak that was like a pound of meat so take that into consideration. You could burn your steak if you put the wrong settings for it's size ❤️
Just tried this it was very delicious too much salt so I used a little less than what she said also my entire kitchen and house was way smokey I thought the place was gonna burn down... probably should've warned us lol
Here is a thought. If you have a carport, patio. balcony or garage place a hot plate in any one of those areas and sear your meat in the pan. No sense smoking up the interior of the house. Since I do a lot of sous vide cooking I have to sear outdoors or my family would walk around the house making choking sounds for a few days and probably make me repaint the kitchen every 6 months...lol

you can also butter baste the steak towards the end by adding butter, smashed garlic and thyme sprigs to the pan and simply spooning over the steak. Either way your finished steaks looked perfect. Great job.

"Remove the steaks from the oven 5 degrees before the desired level of doneness is achieved, or 130 degrees F for medium rare."
You had me until here - no idea what this means. Simple please - how many minutes and at what temperature.
She should have made it clear that you need a meat thermometer. There really isn't an answer to this question without one. It depends on if your oven gets reliably hot, if you place it higher or lower in the oven and of course on the thickness of the steak.
For me, 3-4 minutes on one side, fat seared, then flipped to the side that hasn't gotten a sear and put immediately in the oven for 8 minutes at 190c turned out an almost perfect medium rare. I'll also need to get a meat thermometer
Thanks, I cooked steak for my first time ever and used this method. I followed the steps and it seemed like the process was quicker than expected. After I finished I cut the steak for my first bite and saw some clear "jelly" looking stuff where I cut and I got paranoid it wasn't fully cooked, so I threw it back on the stove top for another 5 minutes and it was more well done afterward (which I like). Come to find out what I saw and thought was uncooked meat was more than likely just fat. Anyways, in the end I made a pretty tasty steak and the process was much quicker than I would have thought. Thanks for the help!
Quarantine got me watching cooking videos that I’ll never do
