    I've seen this asked several times in the comments, and I just watched another tutorial (Awakened Entrepeneur) which answers the question about whether your customer will be able to use your Pro elements without starting a trial subscription or actually purchasing one. The answer is no, they will not. So make sure you do not use any of the Pro elements (the ones with the little crown on the bottom right-hand corner) because it won't work for them.

    This is great! I have been thinking about adding editable signs back into to my shop. I used to customize each and every sign (first day of school, etc.) years ago and I had to stop offering those because it was too time consuming! This is a much better option! Thanks for sharing!

      Hi there! I've personally gotten his question a lot so I think I'm going to create a tutorial of it on my channel but I will try to explain it as best I can here. After you open your shop, go to "dashboard". Then go to "add listing" on the top right. This is where you add in your photos, titles, tags, etc. Scroll down and you can select "physical" or "digital" products. Of course go to "digital". Then scroll all the way down and it allows you to upload the files that your customer will receive after they purchase your listing. I hope that makes sense!

    This was a great video, but sending a shareable link with a free Canva account will send the same file to every customer. And if ever a customer deletes or changes anything, it will be changed for the next customer and so on...I read online that you'll need a Canva Pro account to send editable "templates" of the file. That's how each customer gets their own copy without changing your copy or other customer's copies.
    I saw a lot of questions for this.

      You should set it up to where ONLY the text is edited unless you make the clip art yourself. All of the licenses I've seen would not allow the customer to manipulate the clip art. Hoping for an updated version of this video because there are much easier ways to do this - use Canva PRO and deliver as a template instead of edit. And as far as flattening the rest of the design, save the whole thing without text, then upload it as a PNG and create a new image with that PNG plus text, and they will be able to edit the text but not the clip art.

    Questions:
    What other programs do you use to create editable files? Is canva the easiest for customers?
    What happens if a customer edits the file, will the next customer see the previous customer's work/changed design? Is there a way to automatically send out a fresh link to each customer?

    • @SandraEide
      @SandraEide  4 года назад +5

      I prefer to use Corjl which I have a video tutorial on as well although there is a monthly fee. It makes it super easy for the customer to get the files and edit themselves with no extra confusion about the editable file. Basically you wouldn't send a new file to the customer, you can use the same edit file, however if they accidentally save it as the original file instead of just downloading and printing then it might affect the original edit file. Thats why I suggest creating a duplicate just in case someone saves through to the edited file. What you will want to do is explain in your customer info sheet that they can save a copy before editing the file if they plan on keeping the file in therir saved folders. I hope that helps. (:

      I think what you do is paste the link into a word processing file, then export that file as a PDF. You then upload the PDF file to your Etsy listing. The customer downloads the PDF file after they’ve purchased. They can then click on the link to your Canva template as links in PDFs are clickable. Hope this helps.

    May I ask a question? Does customers bothers about accessing on canva using their emails? I have this only concern about this process.

Make sure with photos of art in Etsy there is a watermark otherwise people can right click and download, also upload a low resolution too.

    I live in Illinois, how much is a commercial license? Is the license for selling online?

    • @turtlescanfly7
      @turtlescanfly7 3 года назад

      A commercial license is when you pay the owner of something (in this case the creator of the artwork) to use their product. A commercial license allows you to use their artwork in your products which you then sell to other people. So a commercial license is different than a user license where you can just use the artwork for your own personal use (you can’t use it to sell to others).
      Every artist or creator can charge whatever they want to license their art so the cost of getting a commercial license will depend on what the artist who created it wants to sell it for. And they may put limitations on what you can use it for, basically you just need to read the licensing agreement before signing to see if they restrict you from using it for online products or something else.
      An example would be a sports team logo, let’s use the Patriots for football. You can’t sell mugs on Etsy with the Patriots logo. The Patriots own that graphic & you would be violating the law. You would need to get a commercial license (aka pay them for permission to use the logo on products). A license for a pro football team logo is obviously going to be more expensive than most artists selling their digital artwork.

    • @SandraEide
      @SandraEide  3 года назад

      I list it as a finished product, and then you can put "made to order" or just put the year the original design was made. And the biggest thing to include is that the product will be editable in the description and its helpful to add a picture saying it's a customizable/editable product in the listing photos.

    • @turtlescanfly7
      @turtlescanfly7 3 года назад

      @@kellyt8836 I agree but this is where customer education comes in. Your listing should explain it before they purchase. I’d compare it to word or excel. Customers who buy digital products that are word or excel files need to actually have those programs to edit the documents they bought.
      This is the trade off for it being a passive income stream. She could make the edits herself and send them to the customer but that would take more of her time & the customer only gets one product. But by making it editable it becomes passive income and the customer has a template they can reuse many times. You could also charge more (if you want) since the customer can use that template for life essentially
