Hi! I am having issues selling templates on etsy, I have created PDF files for each design with each template having a different link (each pdf and design has its own listing as well) and it still is sending all of my customers to the same wrong template. Please help!
This video was SUPER helpful!!! Thank you for walking through the whole process. I’m not so techy so I was getting very confused about how to share digital creations to sell and also have them be editable. Thank you thank you 🙏🏻 Really, I looked through tons of videos and yours was the first one to really explain it all the way through:)
When someone makes a copy of any template, they have full access to all assets and designs in that template. Yes, they could potentially sell the design. No, there's no way to stop it. You can have a solid terms and conditions policy and a license agreement, but even that won't stop a determined thief. Don't let the fear of someone stealing from you stop you from creating and selling.
Thanks for sharing, to confirm when you share it as a template, do you as the Canva Editor end up with a bunch of copies of your template in your Canva home page each time the user uses your link?
I have the free version, but I was able to save the link as a template. Thank you though because this is the only video that helped me figure out how to share my editable link with my customers.
As others have said - REALLY HELPFUL! Thank you so much! I've been using canva for three months but I didn't realise you could do a few things that you showed. Such as hitting L for line and spacing evenly. Let alone why I came here in the first place to create templates!

And how about the collaboration things : "Only me can access" or "share with anyone with the link?" I hope you can guide me thru as I am super confused, Thank you

It has been so frustrating... I have added you to my book marks! :)

Hey is the share as template option for paid acc? Coz it was available on free acc a few daus ago but it's not showing anymore but I have a different free acc where the option is still available. What's going on?
You can lock graphica in place, but the user can unlock. You could create your design, export as a PNG (making it flat) and the reuploading as the background. The user can stull remove the image but it wouldn't be editable. There is nothing you can do about fonts, though.
Great video. You wouldn't happen to know the answer to this question (I haven't been able to find an answer anywhere)... If I open a Pro account and begin to sell templates and then decide to cancel my Pro account - would my customers still have access to the templates they purchased from me?

I've seen people with thousands of sales and wondered how do they manage all of the copies made of their original in their Canva account? Thanks for showing steps that I haven't seen on RUclips.
You can't really control it. As long as they have the link they can download as many times as they wish. Periodically, I will change the links to prevent sharing/stealing. But there is nothing you can do unless you want to manually send a link to each customer, and even then they can share the link. So 🤷🏻♀
@@OnlineTemplateShop Thank you for your a quick response. Allow me to rephrase. I'm not concerned with people sharing/coping my template with others for free. That is inevitable. I assume customers will see all of the replicated titles of the document if I don't manage to keep the title clean. I'm thinking I will have to create a copy of the original and rename is slightly (i.e. Volume 2 ABC Template) then add the new volume to my Etsy shop in order to manage the title of the document.

Hi Yadsia! It's Kacy from the Accelerator. So funny that I watched this last week before seeing your intro post in FB. Thanks for such a helpful video! I share a template in my to-do list course and this video answered all of my lingering questions on how to do that. Thank you!
Hi Yadsia. I have a Pro account and pulled the link from "Share a link to use as template." I've discovered that as students are editing their templates, their changes *are* changing the master. Is this right? I thought with my pro account the edits would only show on their end. Do I need to do a "Stop" message on page 1 like you did? I thought that was only for if the original creator didn't have pro. Learning as I go! Thank you!
@@KacyPaide That's strange! If you're on the Pro version and sharing the "template" link, that shouldn't be happening. What that link does is it forces a copy into the users account. When you share the "edit" link, you're sharing the actual file (not a copy) so all changed will be reflected. Now.... do you mean that YOU can see their changes? OR that THEY can see each other's changes. Email me at hello@onlinetemplateshop.com or send me a message on FB. I'd love to help you with this.
@@OnlineTemplateShop It seems as if I can see their edits, as the last time I went into my master there were some fishy things that I swear I didn't add. I'll test it again with my husband's free account and reach out if I need to. Thank you so much for your willingness to help!
@@OnlineTemplateShop An update: It totally works as you taught it and I had done it right after all. I had inadvertently left in some changes from when I recorded my Canva tutorial and mistook them for students' edits! Arrrgh. At least it was working all along! Thank you so much for your help.
Your videos are so helpful, but to make sure I'm clear. Once I create a template, send to my customer as a template besides the master, I can use the same template link to send to several customers and no one will see changes made to their template correct? However, it doesn't stop someone from sharing my template without purchase first correct? If that's so is there a way to keep that from happening?
You can share the same link with as many people as you want, it forces them to make a copy to their own Canva account. So no one can see anyone else's changes. And yes, there is no way to stop someone from sharing the template/design that you make. No way to keep it from happening. Some people are always going to cheat and steal.
@@tashaw5938 Yes. You can purchase a terms and conditions contract like this one: nicolecherioden.com/product/terms-of-use-disclaimer-downloadable-ecourse/ But even with that, people are still going to do whatever they want.
Thank You so much for sharing this. I have never tried to make a template before let alone want to sell it. My mind is stuck in sharing a JPG file so I had no idea how to share a template (free or the pro) with Canva.
When I copy the template in Canva and make a copy, will i have to keep doing that when customers purchase? For example say I have a resume template and the customer purchase the copy of the Master and I still have the original. But now the copy is going to be altered by the customer correct and if i have a auto renew listing on Etsy am I having to create a copy each time someone makes a purchase or is it fine?
No. If you share the correct template link, when your customer clicks on it, Canva will "force a copy" of the original (the one you created) to their account.
Hi! Thanks for sharing, this is really helpful. I'm looking onto creating printables as well, glad I came across with your channel. I have a question though, I have a Canva Pro, I'm just wondering is it okay to use the canva graphics, if I'm going to sell the printables I created with Canva?
Thank you so much for this video! very helpful :) Still I can't find an answer about the security of selling our works... what if other people use our link to resell it to other people? Do you know if there is a solution to avoid this? Thank you very much!
There is no way of stopping this. I have had this happen to me a few times already. All I could do I send a Copyright complaint to Etsy and Fiverr (where people were re-selling my work) and they took it down immediately. I've also started changing registration links quite frequently. Which means, that if someone purchases from the bootleggers, they won't be able to actually download my product because the link is broken. There are a few workarounds, as you can see, but you can't stop someone from stealing, unfortunately. But please, do not let this stop you from creating and selling your products!
Not as of right now. You can lock the design, but your customer can unlock it. Alternatively, you can create a design with multiple elements, export as a PNG, re-import to Canva, set as a background image. That way the elements would not be editable. But your customer can remove the background image if they want.
Is there a way to freeze some of the elements so when it is shared as a template it is not fully editable? Say you want to allow them to swap text and images but not move the design elements like the flowers and lines around.
Thanks a ton.. I never knew about this.. no wonder one of my customer who bought the template was have problem clicking on the link.. one question wil there be a problem since am on pro free trial for 30 days if I share the link using pro features when my pro expires will that link I shared as a pro feature will it still works. ?
Thank you for sharing this! I have 2 quick questions: 1) Have you ever run into the issue of someone being rude and editing or deleting the link in the Google doc once they've accessed it? Is there a workaround that in the case this scenario happens? For example, could I have a PDF with a link for each user that purchases from me versus having everyone going to the same Google doc to access the link? 2) Referring to the paid Canva subscription for the shared template: Once the user accesses the Canva template from the Google link, will they have their own personal file that they can edit? Or can anyone/everyone have access to that same copied template file?
Question #1: watch this video ruclips.net/video/XD2Fd28spAU/видео.html forward to minute 4:10 Question #2: Yes, they will have a personal Canva file that they can edit. The template link will force a copy into their account.
@@OnlineTemplateShop Thank you so much for that clarification! Will buyers also have the option to edit the sizing and positioning of clipart images in canva templates? I don't think they can change the colors, but will they be able to move the images around and scale to their liking?

Can you tell me how do I upload that shareable link to the upload section when making a digital file listing to sell on Etsy? When I click to upload the file it only lets me choose something from my computer and doesn’t let me input a link.

Hi Yadsia! It's Kacy from the Accelerator. So funny that I watched this last week before seeing your intro post in FB. Thanks for such a helpful video! I share a template in my to-do list course and this video answered all of my lingering questions on how to do that. Thank you!
Awesome to run into a fellow member! I'm so glad the video helped you
Thank you for sharing I have sold a template and uploaded on etsy the link but got email it says they requesting access to the design
Double check the template link. Make sure it's actually a "template" not to "edit"
Brilliant video and explanation. thats fantastic, great job!!!
@@OnlineTemplateShop thank you so very much for answering my questions it means a lot💙💜
@@OnlineTemplateShop Is there any verbiage you use to try to eliminate that as much as possible?
@@tashaw5938 Yes. You can purchase a terms and conditions contract like this one: nicolecherioden.com/product/terms-of-use-disclaimer-downloadable-ecourse/ But even with that, people are still going to do whatever they want.
@@OnlineTemplateShop you're absolutely correct thank you and blessings to you and your business.
Thank you so much! But then, your client can share as a template again. Is there a way to set permission to edit only, cannot share as a template?
No way to stop it. Make sure you have strong terms of use and licensing before you list it for sale. But still, anyway can share it if they wanted to.
Very informative! Thanks
Awesome video. So If I share the link as a tempalte, the changes customr makes doesn't affect the original file?
It does not affect the original file as long as you share as a template.
Thank You so much for sharing this. I have never tried to make a template before let alone want to sell it. My mind is stuck in sharing a JPG file so I had no idea how to share a template (free or the pro) with Canva.
Hi can you please tell what to do with the elenents that we dont want to be changed. I have pro account. Does locking them helps....
It doesn't help. there is nothing you can do.
Thank you very much. its really helpful. really appreciate it for a beginner like me.
Your way of describing is owsome
Hi! Thanks for sharing, this is really helpful. I'm looking onto creating printables as well, glad I came across with your channel. I have a question though, I have a Canva Pro, I'm just wondering is it okay to use the canva graphics, if I'm going to sell the printables I created with Canva?
I don't know the right answer, but here is a good resource: about.canva.com/license-agreements/free-media/
@@OnlineTemplateShop Thank you so much!
@@OnlineTemplateShop Thank you so much for your answer, God bless you
Thank you a million times! New subscriber here ❤️
Do you do any one-on-one coaching? I’m having a hard time uploading an editable template.
I do have a course that goes super into detail about all of it: dbs.seethetemplates.com/dasct
8:25 Hey small doubt.
Do the customer needs to canva login to edit the template link? or login not needed?
yes, they need a canva login
@@OnlineTemplateShop Thank you so much for your reply
New to Canva here! Can you create a template with the design locked and just edit the text?
Thanks!
Not as of right now. You can lock the design, but your customer can unlock it. Alternatively, you can create a design with multiple elements, export as a PNG, re-import to Canva, set as a background image. That way the elements would not be editable. But your customer can remove the background image if they want.
So if I'm sending to someone who has the free version and my design used pro elements, will it ask them to purchase/upgrade?
Yes.
Is there a way to freeze some of the elements so when it is shared as a template it is not fully editable? Say you want to allow them to swap text and images but not move the design elements like the flowers and lines around.
not within canva. but you could turn the design to a png and select that png as the back ground then put the text on top
Super helpful tutorial!! Thanks for answering my question!
Thank you for your video! it was very helpful!
Thanks a ton.. I never knew about this.. no wonder one of my customer who bought the template was have problem clicking on the link.. one question wil there be a problem since am on pro free trial for 30 days if I share the link using pro features when my pro expires will that link I shared as a pro feature will it still works. ?
I *think* it'''still work. I've never tested it, though.
Thank you for sharing this! I have 2 quick questions:
1) Have you ever run into the issue of someone being rude and editing or deleting the link in the Google doc once they've accessed it? Is there a workaround that in the case this scenario happens? For example, could I have a PDF with a link for each user that purchases from me versus having everyone going to the same Google doc to access the link?
2) Referring to the paid Canva subscription for the shared template: Once the user accesses the Canva template from the Google link, will they have their own personal file that they can edit? Or can anyone/everyone have access to that same copied template file?
Question #1: watch this video ruclips.net/video/XD2Fd28spAU/видео.html forward to minute 4:10
Question #2: Yes, they will have a personal Canva file that they can edit. The template link will force a copy into their account.
@@OnlineTemplateShop Thank you so much for that clarification! Will buyers also have the option to edit the sizing and positioning of clipart images in canva templates? I don't think they can change the colors, but will they be able to move the images around and scale to their liking?
@@lovelylexi2492 Whatever you're able to do on your side, they will be able to do as well.
What a great video!!! Do your customers need to have the paid version if you send them the link as an editable template? Thanks in advance ❤
no, they don't. they can open and edit
Thank you for your content! A quick question: can i use images that are not in canva? Will it be available for clients? Thank you!
Yes and yes. Just make sure that you have the right licensing for the images.
thanks a lot for this explaination!
Hi, do you know how to fix lock creativefabrica items/images for large editable templates without compromising the dpi of the image but fully locking for policy
you can 'lock' an element in Canva, but the custimer can unlock it. So there's really no way in Canva to 100% lock anything
Can you tell me how do I upload that shareable link to the upload section when making a digital file listing to sell on Etsy? When I click to upload the file it only lets me choose something from my computer and doesn’t let me input a link.

This is gold. Thank you for sharing with us
Thanks for your video! It was very helpful. 😊
Hi, I am new to this. I have tested it out by sending it to family, and friends and when they click on it there is a Canva watermark over it, and when they try to remove the watermark, it says they have to pay to use the premium version to get the watermark taken off. I'm just wondering what I am doing wrong when I save the links or when I am making my template. If you have any advice please let me know! Thank You!
You’re not doing anything wrong. Canva has both free and pro elements. If you are in the free version of Canva and use pro elements you have to pay for them. If you are a pro user you do not have to pay extra.
@@yadsia0426 oh okay! Got it! Thanks hon!
if i have some pro elements within the editable template. if they click the link and don't have pro can they still access the same features I put in the template
Yes, they can still access everything but any paid elements would be watermarked and the want to download they have to pay for it.
Hi there! What is the difference in the sharing process for something my customer will receive that is *not editable* and they can print versus something that is editable that they can edit then print? ❤🎉 (free version)
do not share as a template if you don't want to give access to the original design, they'll be able to edit. share as a pdf instead
You totally earned a subscriber! Thank you! God bless!😎
Super helpful. Thank you.
Excellent video!!! Just for clarification: if I have a paid account, when I share the link, I won't have that issue where when a person clicks the link I send them, it will edit anyone's document that has the link?
that's not an issue anymore, so you're good
@@OnlineTemplateShop thank you!!!
Your video really help a lot 🥰
Hello. I have a question, I have Canva Pro and want to sell editable templates. What if my customers don't have the Pro version?, will they still be able to edit the template with a free version?, can they edit the fonts?, elements, photos from the pro version?. What do you suggest? Thank you so much!
Yes, they're able to edit in a free account. But if you add any pro elements, they might not be able to use them
Can u pls be kind enough to explain the fact whether my clients will be able to edit it elsewhere like instead on canva..?
Canva templates are only editable in Canva. They have the option export as a PPT file or even an SVG if they want to edit elsewhere.
@@OnlineTemplateShop oh ok tysm to the reply!
Great video!! Thanks for clarifying me this info :)
Thank You! Question- is it possible to make a new link for each customer?
Manually, yes. You could duplicate the templates infinite times and get unique links. That woult take forever, though.
Thank you so much for this video 💕
Hi this is what I need it!!! This is amazing 👍....is it possible if you can make a resume template on canva to sell on etsy? Thank you so much.
Hi Yadsia! Thank you so much for this video! QUESTION: If a customer doesn't have CanvaPro can they still edit and print their purchase through the "share a link to use as a template" link I would embed in my product's info page?
Also, do they have to create a login to even use the link? Just wanting to clarify on my purchase note in my Etsy store. Thank you!
@@jennableecker2548 Yes, they can edit and print with a free account. But if you used any pro elements, they'll need to pay before downloading. Yes, they need to have a Canva account to be able to use the templates.
When using the paid version “share a link to use as template” do you have the have the customer make a copy? Or does it stay the same for the next customer who buys? Great video!!
When the customer clicks the link, it'll force a copy automatically.
Share a link to template can now be used by free version of Canva users too.
Thank you! That was very straightforward :) If I have a paid version but client has a free version, will the client be able to use my template if i used premium elements? Thank you ☺️
They're able to use it but they will need to pay for the premium elements when they try to export the file.
This was sooo helpful thanks so much
I'm happy I found your video. It is something close to what I have been struggling to find since couple of days now.I am on the free version of canva
I want to create an editable lable for my handmade soaps .the designs Nd ingredients, logo remains the same but the soap name changes ..in this case do I make a master copy and save it for later changes or how can it be done?
Your help will be much appreciated. Thank you
Hi I use the free version of Canva too, here's a tip - go to the more button click on styles, you can change the look of the text (or colors) All in one. (After you edited, the name of the soap, of course!) Or you can lock all of your design, except for the text you want to edit & you should be good to go!
Thank you for the help🙏
