Decks like this are always great to see. It's the main reason why I subscribed to the channel. So many players forget that the game is meant to be fun rather than just competitive, and seeing this kind of content makes it more enjoyable. Thank you, Seth
33:10 you aren't dead and you scooped too early, again. play your land, play the 2nd regal caracal and swing with your 3 cats that are now all lifelinking. Gain 10. untap, draw cards and keep playing....
To be fair, it's not an easy line to see in the moment. It took me a long time to see where you were getting 10 life from--all I saw were the cat tokens, didn't think about the first Caracal.
Idk man, I saw it in an instant when he scooped in like a second. Reid Duke made a comment recently about this, always look at the board with fresh eyes every turn, Seth was just blind sighted by being dob the turn before where he thought he needed a sweeper or removal. If you look at the board state longer, he could also have attacked with the piercer, if the opponent doesn't block he goes to 3 and cant attack you as you are on 25 with 10 power in lifelink waiting in defence. If he blocks, then he is losing his board position, it's a win-win. Even if the opponent casts another Sanctum Seeker, the trigger is max for 21, you block, kill a couple of his guys, gain 10 life, back to 14, take some collateral dmg and then swing for the win on your next turn.
Flexo honestly, this isn’t what annoyed me. It was him not blocking the 1/1 that kept attacking every turn when he had a 3/2, a 3/3, a 4/3, and 2 2/2s. On a few turns you could somewhat make the excuse that he was afraid of activating Fatal Push’s Revolt, but that would have only killed his 3/2 for like 4 turns and only his 4/3 after that. Everything else was either already dead to FP or never dead to FP.
Flexo yeap, sometimes i don't understand that rush that players have to scoop, and sideboard it. I know that i less information sometimes but, c'mon keep playing yo !
Seth! Glad to see the games. I played you with that Esper Approach deck and was on my fingertips once sunbird came down. Either way, keep up with the awesome content.
i could wake up tomorrow with amnesia not even knowing my own name or what magic was and someone could show me the decklist and i would say Seth made it in a heartbeat. Man that deck looks like so much fun!
This reminds me of my favourite deck I ever built, Warp World in kamigawa/ravnica standard. I did moderately well with it, it was a blast to play and was focused around the set's big chaotic red spell. Fond memories.
I was playing MTGO the other day and I saw a very interesting Sunbird's Invocation deck. It was basically a artifact Metalwork Colossus deck playing red to play Sunbird's Invocation. So whenever he played Metalwork Colossus he would reveal 11 cards and then he was playing Worldfire to finish off the opponent.
This deck is super sweet. Also that vampire deck gives me hope that Sanctum Seeker vamp tribal can be a thing. Growing Rites of Itlimoc is I think one of the most undervalued cards in the set. Even if it just taps for 3-4 that is still pretty huge. I think it'll be insane in a Deeproot Waters deck. Also- RW Approach is actually a real deck.
I love how you say Rootbound *Craig*. Every time I play that card I pronounce it the same way because it's my name. Also, crag is the origin of the name Craig.
Hello viewer! Please, before you type a comment about any one of Seth's missplays, or to congratulate him on another ultra-spicy deck, take a moment to like the video! It's an easy thing to forget, but it does help support MTGGoldfish.
Sergey Barbashin absolutely nothing, would have gone to 1 off of attack triggers then lifelinked up to 27. And that's if the opponent swung with everything, we would have won that game. :/
game 1 when he is sweeper of bust the turn before you win, that is your reasoning to play the last creature in your hand when you have multiple lethal threats on board...difficult for me to get that one
I think you could take out that Visionary Augmenter for something like Inferno Jet. Its a hit off of Sunbird's Invocation, and also another big card to cast. I really was hoping someone would make a burn deck with Sunbird, Inferno Jet and Wildfire Eternal, or at least something along those lines.
Hey Seth have you thought about Grixis gods - free spells in ixalan standard? using Invocation and As for told with lottery. I think its super janky but i think you could make it fun like this deck.
What in particular were you holding the negates in your hand back for in the second WR Approach game? I recognize you didn't need them with your particular string of draws as you just kept reloading the board, but what situation were you looking to forestall?
But at 37:26 he lets the first approach resolve??? I understand you only lose to the second one, but it puts itself back in the deck, so if you counter it you don't have to deal with that one copy again?
All countering that would've done is prevented the seven points of life gain. However if it was the second time his opponent had cast he'd have countered it.
Oh, riiiiiight, the first approach doesn't have to resolve for the second one to be lethal. I get the line now. Thank you very much for walking me through it.
Your welcome. When you're ahead in Magic at a certain point it stops being "how do i win" and starts being "i am currently winning what could go wrong and how do i prevent it.
MTGGoldfish but if you play the cat in your hand it gives you 10 life linking damage to attack with on board putting you to 25 next turn taking 21 assuming nothing of his even dies to prevent throne damage
No. We're not saying block with the cats. Play Regal Caracal and swing with other Regal and 2x 3/3 Cat Tokens for 10 Lifelinking damage to live another turn. That's 3 more cards deep (1 from draw and 2 from Rogue Refiner) to find a fumigate or other answers.
Not only that but the opponent couldn't attack back with all because they lose to the crack back. With the opponent on zero cards in hand the 2nd cat was essentially GG for Seth. Instead he scooped as fast as humanly possible.
Having played this deck at my local hobby shop, my recommendation to anyone who wants to try it? Do NOT play both Panharmonicons if you intend to play your Tishana. You WILL deck yourself.
That sideboarding in game 1 makes no sense. You took out Whirler Virtuoso which is your single best card vs Ramunap Red and left a bunch of Settle the Wreckages and Fumigates in the sideboard.
Decks like this are always great to see. It's the main reason why I subscribed to the channel. So many players forget that the game is meant to be fun rather than just competitive, and seeing this kind of content makes it more enjoyable. Thank you, Seth
Joshua Taylor the laughs man, the insane SaffronOlive maniac laughs !
That's why i subscribed
Oh Jesus that first game went 0-100 REAL quick
RisingTides it made me so happy lol
Came here for this comment!! XD
His Troll Giggle came out
I love it when we see a lot of spice in both sides of the battlefield! Super fun Against the Odds this week :')

It had flying.
Flexo yeap, sometimes i don't understand that rush that players have to scoop, and sideboard it.

this is the most Seth deck I've seen in a while. Step 1: draw Deck, step 2: Throw creature, step 3: maybe win?
I wouold like to see a modern version of this that would be awesome :D
Seth! Glad to see the games. I played you with that Esper Approach deck and was on my fingertips once sunbird came down. Either way, keep up with the awesome content.
Seth you have the best job in the world. dont ever stop having so much fun.
i could wake up tomorrow with amnesia not even knowing my own name or what magic was and someone could show me the decklist and i would say Seth made it in a heartbeat. Man that deck looks like so much fun!
This deck is amazing! Great job Seth
Sometimes when i watch these i just think "what is even happening" lol the first game was nuts
This reminds me of my favourite deck I ever built, Warp World in kamigawa/ravnica standard. I did moderately well with it, it was a blast to play and was focused around the set's big chaotic red spell. Fond memories.
I’ve been waiting all day for this!
DID YOU JUST BOARD OUT WHIRLER VIRTUOSO AGAINST RAMUNAP RED
And didn't board in cheap removal for some reason, horrible sideboarding.
Agreed
That double sunbirds hit off tishana in the 1st game made it all worth it
That was awesome, definitely planning on playing with sunbird invocation in EDH :)
Glad you built this, been looking to break Sunbird's Ivocation, hope it went well
I was playing MTGO the other day and I saw a very interesting Sunbird's Invocation deck. It was basically a artifact Metalwork Colossus deck playing red to play Sunbird's Invocation. Wanna here my Seth impression?
UUHHHHHH DECK DECK DECK DECK DECK
hear*
Venersis Proooooooooooobably correct to use correct grammar.
Just sayin'.
Patrick Buerke good thing this is just a RUclips comment section and not an essay
It's also a SaffronOlive video. The English language kinda is thrown out the window anyways.
Reminds me of Ralph from Simpsons, running around guests and yelling "DUCK DUCK DUCK DUCK..."
Thank god for the editting. I can actually watch Seth in this.
You get more joy out of MTG than any other content creator I know of.
That first game man ! Insane in the brain
The first game is why I wanted to see Seth brew a deck around Sunbird's Invocation!
oh that red white approach sunbirds deck is so sweet
I love how you say Rootbound *Craig*. Every time I play that card I pronounce it the same way because it's my name. Also, crag is the origin of the name Craig.
"I think this what you call the vampire's nuts....I didn't know that was a thing" - Me either Seth, but I assumed.
Hello viewer! Please, before you type a comment about any one of Seth's missplays, or to congratulate him on another ultra-spicy deck, take a moment to like the video! It's an easy thing to forget, but it does help support MTGGoldfish.
OMG, even for an Against the Odds, that turn at 3:50 was... WOW.
I'm so glad I heard the phrase I guess we had the better Sunbird's Invocation deck.
I LOVED this deck so much!!
That first game made me smile
Who else loved the Red black Sunbird's Invocation xD
This was really fun the play in paper, though I kept running up against the match time limit.
2nd game against WB Vampires.. what were we dead to with double Caracal?
Sergey Barbashin absolutely nothing, would have gone to 1 off of attack triggers then lifelinked up to 27. And that's if the opponent swung with everything, we would have won that game. :/
Drain triggers take affect before combat damage. So he wouldn't have even gotten the chance to block with the cats.
Ethan Van Ornum you're half right. He wouldn't have died off of the triggers alone, thus would have gotten to block and lifelink
Yeah, I realized to late that I was looking at a different match
A cool idea for the growing rite could be GW cats splashing blue for Tishana
game 1 when he is sweeper of bust the turn before you win, that is your reasoning to play the last creature in your hand when you have multiple lethal threats on board...difficult for me to get that one

Tishana looks to be a awesome card its going to do real work in the merlock deck if they get enough love in rivals.
Can you try and get the RB control list
Would an "approach of the sunbird" make sense at all? The chance that in your 7 draw you get another approach would be pretty high, no?
What are you going to do when Panharmonicon rotates out of standard?
become a hermit, or play solely EDH
I think it'll pan out just fine, but my hopes and dreams of a real Panny deck in standard will deharmonise with reality
Cry
Have you seen the rw approach deck with sunbird's invo?
Drawing 24 for cards for casting a single card. That's gotta be your best record Seth
That one deck that you lost to I believe it was the red white approach Tech that was at the last tournament.
What in particular were you holding the negates in your hand back for in the second WR Approach game? I recognize you didn't need them with your particular string of draws as you just kept reloading the board, but what situation were you looking to forestall?
ZoidsNut loosing to approuch
But at 37:26 he lets the first approach resolve??? I understand you only lose to the second one, but it puts itself back in the deck, so if you counter it you don't have to deal with that one copy again?

Your welcome. When you're ahead in Magic at a certain point it stops being "how do i win" and starts being "i am currently winning what could go wrong and how do i prevent it.
why didn't he block AT ALL during the fight with the vampires???
Can you do Axis of Mortality Against the Odds
33:08 You scooped a winning hand. What the heck. You had it in your mind that you were dead when you drew the literal card that saves you.
The problem is the double drain triggers from the two Sanctum Seekers :(
MTGGoldfish but if you play the cat in your hand it gives you 10 life linking damage to attack with on board putting you to 25 next turn taking 21 assuming nothing of his even dies to prevent throne damage
The drain triggers resolve before blocks are declared. So lifeline wouldn't have saved him.

What about combustible Gearhulk in this deck?
i wanna see that rb sunbird list that was nuts
What does this deck look like if you cut white? Other energy token producers like Aether swooper?
The visionary augmenter can be replaced with bounty of the luxa I think
why didnt him needed to discard to hand size after playing tishana?
Tishana's second ability makes it so we have no maximum hand size :)
1:14 Um, preeeeeeeetty sure it's called "Bonded Courier", Seth.
i love that "mucho mana"
I love this deck
Bondit courier?
Having played this deck at my local hobby shop, my recommendation to anyone who wants to try it? Do NOT play both Panharmonicons if you intend to play your Tishana. You WILL deck yourself.
35:16 Am I the only one who saw opponent punt their approach away?
When you cast that Tishana in the 1st game....this is why I watch Against the Odds. I woke my gf up cause I was laughing so hard!
The best evil villain laugh
You should do against the odds, fleet sallower + fraying sanity for instant win
Just waiting for you yo play modern again haha
lol haven't heard Seth as happy as game 1 in a while
well.. this was pretty awesome. pls clean up the list and play some more games!!
MAVREEM FEEINNNN, YOU GAIN LIFE WHILE OTHERS FEEL THE PAIN!
I want this just for casual. Am i alone?
Am I missing something, or did the match vs RW Approach only have two games? You lose G1, win G2, and then we get the summary...?
Please do a against the odds with a primal amulet 😃
Good ol' bandit courier.
In the end you didnt use any of those Negates at all, that could have ended alot sooner if you had. >.
I might have to play standard for this deck 😅
That sideboarding in game 1 makes no sense. You took out Whirler Virtuoso which is your single best card vs Ramunap Red and left a bunch of Settle the Wreckages and Fumigates in the sideboard.
I'm real bad at magic but why did teshana die in match 2 with scorpion god out?
Wolzarg her power and toughness are always equal to cards in hand. She hit the battlefield as a 0/0 and died before the card draw happened
Now it makes perfect sense thank you very much.
This caught me by surprise too.
I love how Seth can never pronounce Bomat Courier XD
SETH!! STOP SAYING BOMDED COURIER, I KNOW YOU KNOW THAT YOURE SAYING IT WRONG
DAMN this was sweet!
Hi
The way he says "turn" lol shit just irks me haha " passs the teeerrrn". Love the videos though man 😂
I crack every time Seth laughs like an old English woman
Seth just likes decks that let you draw so many cards that you may accidentally mill yourself
This is true.
Name of this deck should be literally "value town"
Shoulda negated approach to play around second approach, what were you even wanting to negate :/
Negating the first approarch does nothing unless the lifegain is relevant.
Angel of invention just feels way better than the augmenter... it's a lifelink flying anthem with the same stats
Yeah but it also costs 5 mana, and the curve of the deck is already insanely high.
Fair enough. For some reason I thought it was a 4 drop.
Yes vampires do have nuts
Champion of wiffs
3:50 hahahahahaha
Bombay. As in bow-matt
That was insane
5 Magic sets and Seth still says "Bonded Courier" smhhhhhh
This deck should play a locust god
Settle The Wreckage after Ragavan comes in?
Jesus shit gets real at 4:20
Panharmonicon doesn't belong in this imo
What!? No second sun!?!?!?!?1
Bow-matt Courier
He says it like that on purpose.
4:30 BAN THIS SICK FILTH
I love when these dumb decks do dumb things! The best bit of MTG
