It's the "once per turn" trigger. Token decks want to make multiple tokens per turn while control decks usually only have the capacity to make one token per turn (Fountainport, Sunfall, Deduce, etc.)
I mean if they DID want it to be for go wide decks they probably shouldn't have printed it into the format alongside Urabrask's Forge, Fountainport and Sunfall. At least I'd say those are the biggest enablers for using it in a control deck.
@@Luteloots to be fair when it was designed standard probably wasn't 3 years worth of sets yet so they'd have expected Urabrask's Forge and Sunfall to have rotated out by the time Bloomburrow came out. (Wizards works fairly far in advanced on sets)
Just had a crazy thought for pioneer. Use hare apparent, raise the past, and mystic reflection. If you have 5 hares in the yard and raise them they would make 4 tokens each. With thier triggers on the stack cast mystic reflection targeting a hare. The first trigger resolves making 4 more hares instead of rabbits, increasing the hare count to 9, so the last 8 would make 8 tokens each. That's 64 tokens lol.
I think you may need to add some way to immediately capitalize on the tokens so they don't get a chance to wrath. Red would help with purphurous to ping them to death with the tokens enter or the enduring dude that will give them all haste.
As a Hare Apparent + Raise the Past enjoyer, I just want to point out that that when you do raise the past, you should play any bunnies you can beforehand because it results in a lot more tokens. For example, in the Golgari match you raised and then played a hare, getting you 4 hares and 9 tokens, where if you played the hare then raised the past you would have 4 hares and 12 tokens since reach off the resurrected bunnies each simultaneously see an additional copy. Love the video!
So, I thought this as well, but it's not actually true, and it's hurting my brain because I very much assumed it would be. It seems to be because the bunnies give you x-1 tokens, not x tokens. I've run the math on a couple of different cases, and it seems to hold true across all cases that playing them in either order nets the same number of tokens. For the case in question: -As he played it, 3 hares at once for 6 tokens (3 triggers x 2 tokens each) + 1 hare for 3 tokens = 9 total. -As you recommended, 1 hare for 0 tokens + 3 hares at once for 9 tokens (3 triggers x 3 tokens each) = 9 total. I also tested if you already have some number of hares in play and it doesn't seem to matter. You still get the same number of tokens no matter the order you play/resurrect in. It's crazy that the math works that way and very counter-intuitive.
More general case, since it's on my mind: Let X be the number of hares you resurrect Resurrect first: X(X-1) + 1(X) = X^2 - X + X = X^2 Cast first: 1(0) + X(X) = 0 + X^2 = X^2 In both cases, you end up with the square of the number of hares you resurrect. This still holds true if you already have hares on the battlefield, but the math changes slightly. Let Y be the number of hares already on the battlefield Resurrect first: X(X-1+Y) + 1(X+Y) = X^2 - X + XY + X + Y = X^2 + XY + Y Cast first: 1(Y) + X(X+Y) = Y + X^2 + XY = X^2 + XY + Y In both cases here, we are getting the number of hares you resurrect squared plus the number of hares you resurrect times number of hares already on the battlefied plus number of hares already on the battlefield, regardless of cast order. Not the outcome I expected, but it holds true in all cases. Now I'm thinking about which order makes more sense in the face of single target removal held up by your opponent...
If your opponent has a single instant speed removal spell, you want to play Hare Apparent before RTP (assuming opponent plays optimally). For the 3 HA in the graveyard and 1 in hand case: RTP -> opponent kills one Hare while the 3x enters triggers are on the stack, leaving 3 tokens, cast HA from hand to get 2 more tokens for 5 total. (If the opponent waits till you play the HA from hand before casting the kill spell, then you end up with 8 tokens: 6 from the 3x RTP triggers and 2 more from the hand RA.) Play HA, then RTP. Opponent kills the HA while RTP is on the stack, 3 triggers of two tokens each for 6 total. (Killing a HA while the ETB triggers are on the stack also leaves 6 tokens.) Edit: Of course, your opponent might be holding on to their removal for a juicier target, so it may be better to go for the RTP -> hand HA line in some cases.
Delney hellqueues you, arguably you will perform better without him because adding him will more often match you with people who have answers for the rest of the deck
1:05:28 You would have won if you Play Caretaker's talent and leveled it up, You have 30 damage they are tapped out and block 6, you deal 24 and they have 23 life.

Seth, per your request during the Golgari match, here are the biggest mistakes I saw during the Golgari match: Game 1 - 1:05:32, missed lethal. Play and fully level up the talent, swing for 30 and they can only block 6. Game 2 - 1:13:34, Soul Partition a Dreadknight after attacks are declared. Don't block and take 6. Exile the Archfiend with Exorcise during your turn. Your position is more favorable and your opponent has the opportunity to missplay by casting the adventure mode of Dreadknight from exile, which would lose them the game. Game 3 - no major mistakes. Also, on the topic of Sunfall, I have mixed feelings about it rotating. Exile wraths do reduce counterplay, but with the amount of low CMC persistent threats WotC has been printing (Mosswood Dreadknight, Unstoppable Slasher, Enduring Curiosity, etc.) they feel more and more relevant. Though I love the current standard, I don't like FIRE design. So many cards along the curve feel like must answers, so slower decks need to pack tons of flexible answers to not die randomly. I'd like to see a reduction in the quality of threats and answers so the format slows down and games have more decision points. Lastly, I hope Vince is ok in the end? He should probably talk to aa medical professional if he's seeing a lot of blood in his stool.
I have been playing a similar deck for a while in best of one. Mine is just 28 Hare Apparent, 4 Caretaker's Talent, 4 Enduring Innocence, 24 Plains. It wins a surprising amount, but one deadly cover-up and I am cooked.

I never do this, but I'd like to formally request a Stasis Coffin combo deck. I think there might be enough token copy effects in standard that you could sac one each turn and have protection from your opponent forever.
Should've laid down arms the scooze, then you could've swung in more often. Also, dug harder with your fountain ports. Also, you can soul partition your own permanents.

Phineas is also pretty nice in selesnya hare apparent
I'd really like to see a Farewell that destroys instead of exiling in standard. One of my biggest problems when trying to play draw go control is decks that play a lot of artifacts and enchantments. I leaned on Farewell a lot when it was legal, but I often now find myself in a situation where my opponent has creatures and artifacts/enchantments, and I need to deal with both or else I lose. I know there's Cease/Desist, but it isn't enough
Selesnya control for cease, season of gathering, tranquil frillback, tear asunder
And of course pawpatch formation
i would play some lupinflower vilages in the manabase and some number of hinterland sanctifiers in the 75 of this deck.
valley questcaller must have been insane in this deck if it was included, think of all the scry and power... althought it's not a hare apparent
I like how this isn't even against the odds
Just looking at the initial deck tech, I wish Delney and Three Tree City were in here.
His first opponent is how i play hare apparent.
Man I thought I was about to learn some tech to bypass nemesis 😅
I trully wanted this one to work tho. Would have been such a great great deck to play
Flare of Fortitude is very good in this deck because you always have a hare to sac
I love this card. It is great when I play the end and the game ends at turn 4.
A lot of people complain that aggro gets too much love from Wizards, in fact I think Seth has also said it a few times.
But I think their favored child is hard control and cards like Sunfall prove it.
did vince ever stop wiping?
Hes still there to this day 😢
Why is three tree city not in this deck? It feels almost custom made for this scenario no?
