    This is maybe the first time I approve an overpriced portable speaker. Because I can't help myself from loving the sound signature of the Soundlink Flex. I like the warmth and reasonance of the bass it gives even at higher volumes. Sound quality too is not bad at higher volumes where many budget speakers starts sounding brittle. Though yes it doesn't have many strengths in particular but there's surprisingly lot of warmth in the tonality of the overall sound at high volumes which I really like.

    • @alanrossreviews
      @alanrossreviews  3 года назад +5

      yup its pretty much the bose tuning though, nice warmth and bass first. sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. depends on what the competition are doing. this time it fits a niche.

    Got bose flex today to compare with my minirig 3. Initially the warm sounding bose does appeal to the ears more, I quickly realized a lot of the detail is missing. Especially when I listen to ambient music, the “air” is missing in bose even if there’s plenty of rumble. To me detail is more important than overpowering bass so I prefer minirig 3. Will get the minirig sub next month

  • @Simsonlover222

    Hey Alan, i got my Minirig MK3 as a stereo setup a few days ago, got a pair of motion + a feew weeks ago (send them back)... at first i didnt know if i like the minirigs or not, but after playing around with location i figured out they are really good and have such high dynamics that the speaker disappears and you are just in a sound bubble of high quality music. i went to an electronics store and compared it to marshall speakers (also really expensive ones) and my minirigs put them to shame. they are exceptional, not just because of their music quality, but also because of their size and usability. and because of the stereo
    i use them with 3.5 cables on my xbox without latency, listen to it with bluetooth, take them to friends...
    the price is more then fair, i would say they are maybe a bit underpriced but maybe the competition is just overpriced (especially marshall)
    what i also really really like is that they sound very good on low volumes. and whats crazy: you can hear them loud like in a cinema but when going out of the room they dont sound loud, they dont disturb anyone even if you cank it up (i think its because they are directly pointed to the ear). playing games like battlefield is just crazy :D
    what i also really like is "analog music" like big bands or jazz... makes you feel like a private concert for yourself...
    they are really amazing. they make you to stop everything you doing and just listen to them :D
    i will build some stands for them to arrange them in a perfect stereo triangle, get the subs too.

    • @Simsonlover222
      @Simsonlover222 2 года назад

      what i also really like is how well they work with equalizer... i like the highs and bass a bit higher on low volumes and its really no problem (altough i sometimes use a second equalizer beside minirig to boost some frequencies even more, but i do this only when listening on very quiet levels) D:

    Aren't the Motion+ / Charge 4 / Charge 5 all better than these for less? I guess this is the "best < 800g travel speaker" category. These could all fit in a carry-on more easily than my Charge 4. But I want to be able to get a noise complaint from the hotel. And I think the Charge 4 wins the "best music in the shower" category when you stand it on its side. So I can make room for it in my carry-on.

    • @alanrossreviews
      @alanrossreviews  3 года назад +2

      right taking a combination of weight and actual volume the bose would be in a cat below the likes of the charge 5 and motion plus. the motion plus is not very throwable though another criteria i use for travel. i prefer charge 5 to 4 for shower 😁 i think you wanna go full on if a noise complaint is what you are after, more like the boombox 😝😝

And when I'm in the shower a lot of times I set the Charge 4 on its side on the edge of the tub and point it into the shower.

    And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: (Hebrews 9:27)
    The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:9)
    I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. (Luke 13:5)
    And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: (Acts 17:30)

    In my unfortunate experience Minirig is overpriced crap. I have owned 4 and 3 have died within 1 year, Minirig told me I’d have to pay for a repair. Not to mention the built in limiter which isn’t mentioned anywhere in their documentation. Should have stuck with JBL

      Every bluetooth speaker has limiters. Minirig goes a step further and has limiters in its analogue stage where normally its digital. Not sure what country you are in but in uk all repairs are free first year. Does anyone do free repairs outside warranty period?
