    1:19 Gyeon soaps and detergents
    13:12 decon products
    18:50 abrasives
    28:00 Ceramics and protection products
    Notes from Gyeon about some of the points raised:
    1. Q²M Compound+
    It contains more abrasive/heavier cutting particles than the regular Compound. It’s more oily, allows a longer working time per section, but it was also designed to work well with wool pads.
    In our opinion, it has lots more bite than the regular Q²M Compound.
    2. Q²M Primer
    There are a couple of small misunderstandings
    - you may wipe it with Q²M Prep after 15 minutes and you won’t remove the “priming” components.
    - You don’t have to wipe with Prep after 24hours.
    We’d like to say, that 15 minutes is the minimum time for the substance that’s about to stay on the surface to bond, but 24 hours is enough for everything that has to evaporate to do so.
    3. Q² Pure
    durability is stated as 24months/30kkm
    Some helpful application guides in the 2 links below.
    vimeo.com/269589576
    www.detailedimage.com/Ask-a-Pro/how-to-gyeon-quartz-q2-pure/
    4. Q² Syncro
    Q² SKin is not fluorine based (that is the base of Q² Booster/Q² Bead in the Q²DuraBead set) - Q² Skin is silicone based.

    Hi Jon, nice review 👍.
    I recently attended a Gyeon meet up and they explained that bathe + can be used in multiple ways. First off all as a shampoo, as you showed in the video. Secondly, it can be used pure on a wash mitt after the wash, to lay down a layer which has to be rinsed of. Thirdly, this product can be used in a foam lance and be rinsed off afterwards. As mentioned in the review, the product should not sit on the paint for too long.
    I have used Cancoat on my rims as a little test... conclusion: the cleaning is SO much easier now, even in a hostile environment as the rims with lots of heat and aggressive brake dust! Before, I spent hours on cleaning my rims every 2 - 3 weeks (around 1000 Km’s every week). Application was done around 5 weeks ago and still does the trick. I wonder why I haven’t used it before. Application is very easy. The advantage of Cancoat is that, apparently it can be used on rims, paint, glass and plastics. So it is very versatile.
    Prep has been part of my collection for a long period of time now. Nice product as well. I see a lot of similarities with CarPro eraser. Considering the price, I use a mixture of IPA and distilled water after polishing to remove polish residue. The final wipe is done with Prep in order to save as much product as possible.
    About WetCoat... I’m having a love/hate relationship with this product. I apply it on the car whilst still wet. My problem with this product is the dosage. You shouldn’t use more than 3 sprays per panel depending on the size of the panel. It is very easy to over apply, resulting in stubborn stains that are hard to remove (Prep does the tric, to remove it easier). When I rinse it off with the pressure hose, I feel like the product is blasted all over the car again. Also the places where you had already applied the WetCoat. So you should rinse off the entire car again, resulting in a lot of water usage, just to ensure no product is left on other panels and set to dry.
    I hope this little reaction of mine is helpful to you.
    Regards,
    Nick

      awesome mate, really nice balanced view. I thnk if you want to save wet coat use it on a damp applicator cloth and spread over a wet panel. you can tuse tiny amounts then.. you right its really easy to use to much.

    My favorite brand. So many great products. Let's list a few. Bathe+ is great when helping out friends who are not into detailing to wash their car because you quickly get that hydrophobic finish. Wetcoat goes into the same category of lazy + superb results. Q2 Tire, my favorite tire coating. First wash the tire sidewalls thoroughly, then spread Q2 Tire with an applicator, leave for 15min and buff with a mf cloth. Leaves a deep black matte look on your tires that lasts several washes. Silk Dryer, best drying towel I've found for coated surfaces. Does not work on uncoated surfaces as it hasn't got enough absorption volume and gets stuck on the panel but on coated panels it just glides and absorbs everything like magic. Oh and I've got their Gyeon Q2 View on my windshield. Absolutely amazing repellency and has lasted a good while. There are other products of theirs that I like but these are the main ones I use.

  • @klasseact6663

    I just started using Gyeon Q2 Tire, first Sio2 based tire dressing. It goes on glossy, doesn't sling and "tones down" after 2 days, or you could give it a swipe with your designated mf towel and a light spritz of waterless wash.
    I've been using Bathe, Bathe+ and Bathe Essence for carwashes on my coated car and cant say enough great things about it, other than CarPro Hyrdrofoam and TriNova carwash, it's all my coated car gets.
    I also have WetCoat but haven't used it yet but I hear very good things about it, supposed to be the most durable of the spray on, hose off products. I'm really liking this brand, it's not just about cool looking bottles here!

    Gyeon also have a 4th offering in the shampoo category, plain "Bathe" without "Essence" or "Plus" attached at the end. From what I gather its main selling point is simply that it's very slick and helps protect against improper drying induced marring.

    Hi Jon, great review. I’ve been using the Gyeon wet coat and others for a while and it’s brilliant. I’ve been using wet coat particularly in the winter and on the wheels. Excellent stuff 👍🏼. Gyeon Tire is superb. Word of warning on Wet Coat, don’t over use it. It can layer too much if you’re not careful and that alone can cause streaking.

    You mentioned scratch resistance in your video. I think the reason it’s such a talking point with ceramic coatings is because they’re designed to be purchased once and then the whole bottle is used to protect the whole car until it gets reapplied in 18 months or so.
    So, if you get a scratch, it’s a bigger deal because you have to re-purchase the product and either re apply it to the whole car, or waste product after you’ve polished the scratch out.
    Had the same scratch appeared on a waxed car, you can simply polish the scratch out and use some leftover wax to protect the panel.
    Great video - it helped me understand some of the differences in the Gyeon line-up. I’ll likely be buying Wet Coat for winter.

    Wet coat = cheat in a can (or bottle lol). I alternate with systems;
    When i'm using Gyeon, i'll use bathe for first wash, followed by wetcoat and then maintenance washes thereafter are done with bathe+ (tends to prolong the durability a little bit). Tip, don't use bathe+ followed by wetcoat as it wont bond (that would also be in the product description).
    Currently using angelwax's system; enigma wax, enigma shampoo and then once a month post wash i'll use enigma qed as a top up. So far working great and the only difference between the two systems (i'd say) is i find the angelwax has a greater amount of gloss compared to the gyeon's and i think they gyeon pokes its nose out when it comes to cleanliness/repellent ability.
    Great vid as always mate!

      like aesops fabels though you cant keep all the people happy. for all the people that liked it others would comment about it being too long. so you try and listen to peoples feedback and you change it. And then others dont like what you change... to be fair though 30 seconds was too long and the song didnt work if you cut it down to 10-15 seconds.. the new intro is quite high tempo and has a nice ending... but quite literally it doesnt matter what I do rap.rock.trance.folk.blues. short long medium... someone wont like it. so you just have to kind of get it somewhere Im happy with and roll on.. I change them up every now and then though if I discover good new music.

    You are using way too much of the Wetcoat, you can get away with a few sprays per panel. And I think you'll get a better spread if you rinse with a pressure washer rather than a hose. But otherwise I agree with you. I also prefer Wetcoat to Bathe+.

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  6 лет назад +4

      your right.. you can even spritz it on a wet microfiber and just spread on the panel and rinse and save even more.. I was hurling it on properly man sized portion style.. wouldnt last long that way.

    The bathe+ I use after a washed the car with regular soap. Just go over the car quick with a lambswoolpad. Its like you say the schampo hasnt enough foam to safely clean the car in my opinion.

  • @slytherben

    I returned Bathe+ for a couple of reasons, it was too slick and not very foamy, and it didn't mix well with drying agents. Drying agents are nice because they go between you and your microfiber cloth AND they add a little gloss to your already glossy ceramic coated car. Bathe+ is good for lazy people haha, if you just want one product and be done with it. My method right now is Gyeon Foam, then Gyeon Bathe, then Plosh Angel Cosmic Spritz as a slight drying agent. If I use too much Cosmic Spritz I get streaks and have to rub them out with a different microfiber towel. But just a small amount of Cosmic Spritz on my microfiber towel helps maintain my ceramic coat and gives me some decent gloss. But I'm not sure I'm gonna buy Cosmic Spritz again. It's SO expensive. I think I might try Gloss by Polish Angel next time. But I've heard that Polish Angel isn't much glossier than Beadmaker and I'm most likely wasting my money. I will say, NOTHING sticks to my car, but the gloss could be a little better maybe.

    Used Gyeon Wet Coat a couple of times. A biggest drawback for me is that it lasts really short amount of time. In my case it lasted 2-3 weeks tops which I think is bad result. If it was at least 2 months, it might have been worth it. Otherwise it just seats in my garage, I don't even feel like applying it just for the sake of 2 weeks of water beading.

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  6 лет назад +3

      hmm I dont feel that way about it. Im pretty sure you can get really good durability out of these siloxane products if you tweak how you apply it.. but for something you just quickly spritz on and rinse off in seconds while the car is wet the results are pretty epic. if you want longer durability soak a microfiber with water and spray the siloxane ontop the cloth and then cover it over a panel and then buff dry.

    Used Gyeon MOHS for first time today on #Honda e - very anxious* as to whether it might dry too quickly. Pleasantly surprised how easy it was to apply, and buff off residue. My only certain is how thick a coat to apply. Very clear, so you need very good lighting on panels to see. Very little feel, almost zero drag as liquid film goes on. Yet to apply Skin. More fun tomorrow! *Never tried DIY ceramic coating before

    Great video. Gyeon does have some nice offerings in their line up. I am still not sold on Bathe Essence. Maybe the water I have is a bit hard but I end up using almost the same amount as regular Bathe to get it to foam and give me that nice feature of a typical shampoo. Although I don't have a problem when using something like Adams Car Shampoo or Meguiar's Hyper Wash. Also Bathe Essence jells up in the included pump. Bathe+ is ok. Like you said the suds die off quickly.
    Gyeon Polish is pretty good. I like their primer polish and it works very well. Jeff from Gyeon USA has an article on Detailed Image Ask A Pro Blog on it with more info. If one does not have 24 hours to wait I believe the article states waiting at least 1 hour before a Prep wipe off. It does seem to extend the life of the base coating. I have had Gyeon CanCoat exceed the 6-9 month claim from Gyeon. Getting close to a year with this combo. The gloss and feel left bu the primer polish is excellent.
    CanCoat I have nothing but good things to say about it. Fantastic product and fairly versatile. Syncro is nice. Have it on my dad's car going on 7 months. As you said the downside is the multi layer application and wait times. Thanks for the feedback on Pure. Probably won't give that a try. But Jeff also has a nice write up on Detailed Image that may help you out www.detailedimage.com/Ask-a-Pro/how-to-gyeon-quartz-q2-pure/

    27:38 The real problem I see with having to leave a primer product on the surface for 24 hours before applying the ceramic coating is, that during those 24 hours, an awful lot of dust and pollen (maybe even bug droppings) will settle on the surface, which 1. will at least partially bond with the primer as it dries, and 2. which will need to be wiped away before you apply the ceramic coating. Now I don't care how good a prep fluid is supposed to be, or how high quality your microfibers are, but nobody can tell me that you can wipe away that amount of dust and pollen without degrading your perfect jeweled finish, at least to some degree. Which in itself is bad. The other thing I do not understand with these primers is: what do you get in return? I mean, will the ceramic coating bond better to the surface if they're applied prior to the latter? I doubt that even if this is true, it would be a factor for the longevity of the ceramic coating (because obviously it will still scratch and degrade at the same way/rate, and that will be your primary reason why you will want to remove and re-apply it). Will you get a nicer finish with them? I doubt that too, because of said dust and pollen issue. Then what is their real advantage? Or are they only there to squeeze more money off you, if you believe the hype? What are your thoughts on these, Jon?

    Brilliant video as always. I put MOHS on my car a few weeks ago and I've just noticed that it's very lacking in the hydrophobicity department. I didn't get the "Synchro" kit that includes "Skin." I was under the impression that "Cure" (which was included in my kit) would add the hydrophobicity but that doesn't seem to be the case. Would using "Wet Coat" during my wash process do the trick?

    I have a question, I apply a good sealant to my cars paint and If I use Gyeon Bathe+ will it mask the sealant with a lesser performing hydrophobic layer or make it better? I know sometimes products like these cover up a great working product with an okay one.

      cancoat is almost a proper ceramic coating just lower ceramic/solid level and more oil. Wetcoat is water based Siloxane+hardener totally different formats of produst.

      As far as I can tell, Cure doesn't do much other than help protect a coating from water spots during the first few weeks as it's hardening - basically a sacrificial layer. It's also recommended as a maintenance product after washing but personally, I'd prefer something the sheets water much better.

      @ForensicDetailing  6 лет назад

      the pinned comment from gyeon about that fact after 15 minutes you can wipedown makes it a lot more appealing. I think Im going to use the primer before I lay down syncro on the m140. Ive not used essence but Im guessing they are going to be similiar chemical technologies.. could be wrong though.

    • @Calendyr
      @Calendyr 6 лет назад

      I use essence on every ceramic coating I do as a final prep for the coating. It is a light abrasive polish that like Primer cannot be worked hard or long. I usually apply it with a DA polisher on speed 3 and do 2 or 3 fast passes. Essence has fillers and will make the paint look amazing. It also contains SiO2 and is supposed that have 12 months durability on it's own but third party test I have seen contradict this claim. The main advantage is that it's a perfect prep for coatings, so you get permanent fillers once coated. Very useful if the paint is not perfect, and even if it is, it adds depth to the gloss. If you have not tried it, you should, I think you would like it. Also, I would really like you see a test on McKee's 37 products. I am not sure if they are available in Europe, but here in America they are quickly raising to the top of the product lines with quality products at reasonable prices.

    Only used two of their products so far, Bathe essence and Wetcoat. Love the Bathe essence, it's slick and foamy best one I used so far. The Wetcoat however left me really disappointed. 12 weeks protection(lets say 6 weeks in real world terms) didn't even last 2 weeks on my rims and cleaning wasn't any easier. Hydrophobic properties were as good as gone after the first week. Maybe the brake dust is to be blamed, although they mention it works on the paint, plastics, glass and the rims. Used the Bathe essence to clean them so that can't be it either.

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  6 лет назад +1

      wet coat is amazing for me. Its been on the golf a month and the panels are still hurling water off (its never gonna be a total monster durability due to the way you throw it on and rinse it off). but it takes seconds to apply with about 10 calories expended. and its a slick finish too. I dont think it will make a good wheel kind of sealant.. just too much brake dust etc.. but for a throw it on when wet style coating I honestly think its great. I want 5 litres of this stuff for sure.

    • @stwg32
      @stwg32 6 лет назад

      I absolutely believe you that this is an amazing product, just not for rims and thats the main reason I bought it "an easy on and off sealant that makes cleaning easier". I'll give it a go on my panels when my current protection starts to fade.

      Ill get them both out at the same time as use them.. from memory moonlight might be a bit smoother to buff but cancoat might edge it in repellency (not 100% sure on either of those statements though). they are similiar things. I think moonlight has higher silica content though. both cool products and a great way to startout with ceramics.

      Forensic Detailing Channel I used Moonlight once and was very impressed. However, on the second use, the sprayer clogged so I had to pour the rest into a generic spray bottle. Two weeks later, the Moonlight started leaking out of the bottle after degrading the plastic. I decided to buy CanCoat to replace my huge Moonlight mess! Gyeon Cure as a topper over the Moonlight was exceptional, so I thought I would try the CanCoat and keep it all in the Gyeon family. That comparison would make for a great video Jon.

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  6 лет назад +2

      hey steve yer mate the spray nozzles will clog, the ceramic sets hard in the pump chamber when it comes into contact with air and moisture, you can empty the chambers but you have to take it out the bottle and theres ceramic product all over the little pipe that can get on your hands, so best to just let them clog up perhaps. gyeon provide 3 spray triggers for that reason. I actually pour out moonlight with the nozzle top onto a ceramic applicator. Ive not had any problems with my moonlight bottle though. The gyeon bottle is metal so thats prolly gonna be more robust.
      saying that Im more cautious about spraying these lightweight ceramics around with atomised spray heads. Id mask up if you use them this way.

    • @stevegreer1963
      @stevegreer1963 6 лет назад

      Forensic Detailing Channel Hi Jon. Wanted to let you know I have been testing CanCoat and comparing it with the application of TAC Moonlight. CanCoat is definitely more sticky coming off. Moonlight was much easier to wipe away with two or three swipes. I first applied Can Coat with a foam wax applicator and found wipe off to be a royal pain in the ass. But then I tried applying it with the white microfiber towel that was included in the kit, which made wiping much easier. I did find that using one Eagle Edgeless followed by another for final wipe worked the best. I didn’t get to compare both products side by side, but I believe CanCoat provided a bit more gloss than TAC Systems. I was not completely impressed with the look of the Moonlight until Gyeon Cure was applied as a topper. I think both products are excellent and you can’t go wrong with either one. But, I think I prefer CanCoat over Moonlight for the glossy finish, which I found to be exceptional. I would be very curious to get your opinion if you were to do a comparison video. Thanks for your help my friend and for introducing me to these new light ceramic coatings.

      I would go with Wet coat if you like spray and rinse. Cure if you like spray (spray on wet) spread and buff. Bath+ if you want to add hydrophobicity during the wash. All these 3 products will impress you. wet coat is perhaps my favorite though. take the time to really clean out the car and prep the surface. then lay out the can coat following the instructions. Its pretty nice to use, theres a bit of grab but nothing too bad.

    I have been using CarPro Hyrdro2 Lite on my cars as I don't want to do a wheel off job on those and its so so easy to apply. WetCoat is exactly the same and makes you wonder for such little effort, is it even worth taking wheels off and coating them? Assuming ones wheels are clean then as long as you keep up with the maintenance your golden right. Only problem is streaking but typically due to over application or sunlight from what I have seen. Funny thing is Obsessed Garage coated his transport in the stuff and he got streaking a year later or so....
    Not convinced with the Primer product on a professional setting. Unless you got the car in for 3-4 days then waiting 24 hours after you refine to apply coating is a very long time to wait. Scenario...customer brings in their ferrari, you dial it in over 2 days and on second day 8pm at night you finish the final stage of correction with Primer. You cannot apply the ceramic coating till the following day as your not going to stick around till 8pm the next day to apply the coating. Not sure you can manage a diary like that unless you got other cars to work on during that period and the time. Or you do the interior the next day or wheel off jobs.

    • @nicksdragon6929
      @nicksdragon6929 4 года назад

      Doesn't streaking normally over time disappear? Also if it comes back after a month or a year as it did for Obsessed Garage, do you just wait it out or what do you do?

      Durability aside is there any improvement when using can coat on hydrophobic , gloss and self cleaning ability over the wet coat .
      My car paint is swirl free and normally has a decent coat of wax CG Pete53 or similar. Not brave enough to apply a full ceramic coating outdoors as I don't have a garage or ability to work indoors.

      I dont think you can get it in the UK.. but to be honest I if you look at the product range from the company its easy to spot what this stuff is and after that when you look at the price you may come to the conclusion you are being asked to pay an unfair price for it... it will be a cool product but its out there in other forms for a fraction of the cost. maybe though this is unfair I might well take a look at this product and try and review it honestly and with respect but I have some issues with it. there are other companies also doing the same thing selling just either one or 2 products under the ceramic umbrella...
