      Did you know when washing a BMW you can set the windscreen wipers into an upward mode to make it easier to wash them, when you turn of the ignition hold the wipers column stalk up and hold it for about 4 to 5 seconds and the wipers will stay vertical.

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  5 лет назад +1

      @@ash7jar yer I did know of this but I didnt know how to do it. its the same on the golf as well. I always forget.. thank you mate. Ive made a mental note of how to do it on the m140 and I will try and use it because it will be helpfully.

      Jon can applying a snow foam on the paint during hand washing add that extra safeness? I did this yesterday when cleaning using auto foam and auto wash. I just feel the suds go away a little quickly from the soap and worry about losing that lubrisity. Nice little tip I put auto wash in a spray bottle and mixed with water. Helps create suds when spraying it during wheel cleaning and engine cleaning 👍

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  5 лет назад +2

      @@zaink7037 yes but I would use a contact wash shampoo for the contact wash. and a prewash for the prewash.. but forsure I think it can be really nice to spray the contact shampoo all over the car.. like you say you notice all the extra lube and its just nice.. danger is all that extra soap on the car can increase risk of soaps stains.

    This may just be your most useful video!
    A mate at work just bought a new M140, told me it had a dealer paint protection product on it. So I asked how he’d washed it... bucket, sponge, the usual. Pointed him at this vid and suggested a couple of products (mostly recommended by you) and he’s bought a few good things and picked up a lot of tips. So nice one and keep ‘em coming 😀👍

    Once again, another fantastic (USEFUL) video. Jon, you have, without a doubt, THE BEST, and most useful DETAILING channel on RUclips. Thank you for everything you do in bringing all of this information to the world and us "weekend warrior" type Detailing folks out here in the real world. Thanks for covering all the products and letting the world know what works, whatever the costs are. The most USEFUL products that actually WORK in the real world. There are WAY too many products related to detailing these days and you let us know what products actually WORK in the real world. This is the information we need! Looking forward to all your future videos my friend.

    I know no one sorts by new but this video is super underrated. Dad does a great job of showing how important doing your weekly wash is.
    Everyone focuses on what product is best or wax vs sio2. If you follow what Dad’s telling you it doesn’t matter what products you use as long as you’re happy w/ your car and you think it looks good, then it’s all a wash - pun intended.

    Great video. I use the one bucket method you did a video on a while back, but using multiple cheap mitts only once. A dryer makes all the difference to the final result. I only use a cheap battery powered leaf blower so it doesn't heat the air but it's great for wheels, gaps and scuttles. Nothing worse than finishing, coming back to it an hour later and seeing the drips from the mirrors and the lug nuts. Thanks for all the tips and advice.

    Great video, Jon! Could you think of doing a video on how to remove those fine and annoying scratches/scuffs off alloys? Not talking about wheels that have been badly damaged or run against the kerb 😉. My wheels are less than 2 years old and I can see some fine scratches on some of them. I guess I could try polishing them but what should I use? AG SRP? Sonax Perfect Finish? How can the car enthusiast do it by hand? I've searched RUclips and can't find decent content on this so here you go! Hope you'll run with this idea. Cheers.

I've been battling water spots since switching from a silver car to a dark grey car, tend to get interupted when cleaning the car (i do it at work on a saturday and i tend to get interrupted by customers!) Never fast enough with the drying phase! I'm sure ceramic coating makes it water spot that much quicker too...unless that's just in my head!

    @flemmingjensen3202 5 лет назад

    Hello. Nice video 😊
    If you are really looking to reduce the risk of water spots on a hot day or working in the sun, you could cut the contact wash in two: Rinse and dry the top half of the car right after using the mitt (horisontal panels and windows, down to the door handles or whatever works for you).
    This may take just a tad longer, but it's a trick worthwhile imo.
    You don't need to wet the car seven times, which doesn't always suffice anyway, and esp your windows will thank you by spotting up less. 😉

    Another top notch video Jon.
    On media i use rag company cyclone mitt which is indeed close to the incredimit. Works extremely well and i feel the longer fibres are great at keeping any dirt away from the paint prior to getting it in the rinse bucket.
    There's not much id change in this routine. I do however risne the paint first, then snow foam. Same with the wheels. A rinse first then use foams, cleaners and brushes.
    Perhaps im adding a step for nothing. I just feel any loose dirt will come off first giving my foam more chance to work on the dirt thats more stubborn. Kind of like washing yourbwheels thorougly and then using fallout remover because youre just spending the chemical on the surface contaminants that will be easily removed from the prior wash process.
    Im not saying your wrong. Would perhaps like more of an insight to whether you think on the same level.

    John you mentioned about putting down a layer of surfex before foam as a sort of pre cleaner, will this work for the likes of the flies at the end of the video or are you needing a citrus based pre cleaner more so? What way to apply would you recommend then? I use the bilt hamber foam myself so should you spray citrus on, leave to dwell, and spray off then foam? Or would you spray citrus and then foam straight on top of that? Cheers
