      @serkotsins 2 месяца назад +17

      Funfact: Mass planting thousands of trees creates harmful monocultures that are less complex than natural forest ecosystems. Monocultures do not properly support wildlife, they limit biodiversity and they are more susceptible to wildfires and disease. Not to mention trees mass planted closely together will compete for sunlight and nutrients, which makes them even more susceptible to disease and drought. Tree restoration efforts can be done right, but mass planting like this is bad.

    The tuck tape was needed again. That stuff is great. The exterior and engine clean were so good. I always enjoy the shot of you going down the side of the panel with the wash mitt. The inside was so severe. I guess this is where he lives for the time he's working planting trees. I have carried the saplings in a bucket and a shovel to plant trees. It is exhausting work. 4 giant bags of interior contents was a lot. You did a great job on the interior, both the seats and the carpet. The steamer is really your buddy and works so well. I really like the product badge in the left bottom corner that tells us what product is being used at the time. VERY SMART. The reaction of the BIL at the end was so sweet. They know the owner has difficulties but are sure supportive of him and that shows love. Your cleanup of this car for FREE, really shows your character and kindness. Hoarders have to go through a process of counseling and training their brain to learn how to throw stuff away that they do not need to keep. If it is untreated, it will quickly go back to what it looked like at the beginning of the video. This requires professional help. Other videos, people just don’t care about how their vehicle is.

    Coming from someone who suffers like this, people need to understand most people in this type of situation don’t want to live like that, they know and are ashamed of themselves and the filth, but after so long you just get so overwhelmed and over run by the things that you just let it get out of hand. Yeah we could’ve cleaned it up before it got terrible, but sometimes you just don’t have the motivation and it’s not laziness it’s depression. Being so mentally and physically exhausted you lose control of everything and for them to allow someone to help them is such a brave thing to do and him not judging that makes it ever so better. All I’m getting at here though is don’t judge people on first basis stuff like this. Yes, I understand some people are just truly lazy, but there is a difference between lazy and mentally exhausted. Try and offer support to those who are struggling, don’t judge them, commend them on trying to get better on asking for help. And by no means am I saying this situation is directly what I am explaining, as I am not in their shoes and cannot fully grasp what’s happened!

    20:33 Have you tried "Pink Solution" When I worked for the original owners / creators back in the 90's I used it to clean a lot of things, and I dont remember anything it could not remove, blood, red wine, and red Kool-Aid were no match for it, as well as engine grease, brake dust, etc. etc. it has since moved & under new owners, and I haven't used the "new". But its worth a shot..

    20:12 Oxi Clean. Get some of that for red stains. A little back story now. Had some friends over, they got really drunk, one was so trashed she was spilling beer all over my brand new couch. I tried to stop her by just taking her beer bottle away and she hit me in the nose with it. I started bleeding all over the carpet, really badly. I got light headed. Next day I tried getting the blood stains out. I tried everything. Tide, bleach, 409, glass cleaner, all purpose cleaner, degreaser. I tried something new or mixed stuff over a period of a month. I had given up. Then I saw a commercial for Oxi Clean. Went to the store and got some. It was a powder you mixed with really hot water. The blood stains started coming out immediately. All of it came out and you couldn't tell I had ever had an accident. That was 24 years ago. Hopefully they still make it. I haven't bled all over my carpet since that night.

    I asked my mechanic if they could restore my headlights which were all yellow and fogged-up and he said you can do it yourself, I asked how, he said go and buy some Brasso (it's a liquid metal polish here in Australia), apply it, rub it in, let it dry and buff it off and they'll be good as new. He was right. Works really well. 👍

    If the owner of this vehicle has a hoarding issue- throwing out their stuff is traumatic and adds to their anxiety. Which is why helping such people is tricky. It means addressing the root of such troubles and is a choice each person has to make for themselves.

    In the UK we have a laundry stain remover called Vanish Oxi Action that comes in a very bright pink tub. Vanish + lemon juice + time can remove nearly anything. The ONLY thing it ever failed me on was black hair dye on cream carpet (in fairness, it took me a few hours to notice that stain...).

    I gotta say, even when I myself was down on my luck and ended up living in my vehicle, I never let it get to this state. It seems like every day I found myself clearing out all the trash, vacuuming, reorganizing my personal items and wiping down all the surfaces. I don’t mean to compare my experience to that of someone else’s, but in my opinion you should always make time to tidy up your surroundings, even it isn’t much. Just because you’re in a rough situation, doesn’t mean you have to live like this

    • @MoonAndStars25
      @MoonAndStars25 3 месяца назад +2

      He clearly has some sort of hoarding disorder. Even if you didn’t mean to you are comparing your experience to someone else’s and that shames him and others like him who are already suffering and don’t need to feel worse about themselves. I am glad you were able to clean but many aren’t and we shouldn’t judge unless we have been in their exact situation and even then it is not helpful or productive and only serves to harm the person struggling.

      You are right and you were respectable even living in your car. I imagine it helped to also not draw attention to yourself. I think it was also a step forward. You are to be admired, well done!

    Boar hair is incredibly versatile. My fathers family raised two pigs each year for food for a couple of decades after WWII. They used every part for sausage, liverwurst and more. Nothing, and I mean nothing was wasted. A man would visit each year and collect the hair, he made exquisite pig hair brushes of all shapes and sizes. 'The only thing you can't use on a pig is its oink' as the saying goes.
