- We are going to look at the Yodave trigger spring upgrade head to head with the Timney 457 drop in trigger system for the CZ 457. With NRL22 and Precision 22 rising in popularity the CZ457 is one of the most popular options for the sport from novice to champion. The Timney is first drop in trigger option for the system, while the yodave upgrade has been the trusted upgrade for the trigger on this weapon system for a while now.

Timney’s customers have been asking for a dedicated CZ Model 457 rimfire trigger for hunting and competition shooting. They asked, Timney delivered.
For the discriminating shooter demanding the utmost performance from their trigger, our CZ 457 is designed to be robust, user-friendly, adjustable for pull weight and over travel, yet delicate enough to be set with a pull weight as low as 10 ounces or up to 2 pounds. Every part of the trigger is machined using state-of-the-art technology - no skimping with metal injection molding or stamped, old-school parts. Our CZ 457 replacement trigger features our new Sear Engagement Adjustment Lock designed, (SEAL’d) that ensures a user-friendly experience.
The trigger’s sear and trigger shoe are precision-machined, heat treated to 56 Rockwell with a black oxide trigger coating and an NP-3 coated sear for maximum lubricity and a lifetime of reliable performance. The CZ 457 trigger is backed by the legendary Timney No Hassle, Lifetime Warranty.
The secret to becoming more accurate with your rifle? It all starts with an amazing trigger and this trigger, is truly amazing. The new CZ 457 is Timney’s latest overnight success - 75 years in the making.

CZ 457 Trigger Spring
Reduce the trigger pull to half of what the factory spring will adjust down to, used in conjunction with the sear adjustment screw located on the front of the trigger blade you can now get your trigger pull safely down to under 1 pound, or of course adjust it back up to the 2.5 pound range. Included with the spring is a support block to aid in removing the trigger pivot pin. I light dab of grease will hold the spring in place while you reinstall the trigger blade into the trigger housing.
Zero BS your channels get better Week After Week 👍
Thanks man!
Dude this is EXACTLY WHAT I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR !!!
Here's a little tip. The spring in a BIC lighter is the same diameter as the factory 457 trigger spring. Buy a BIC lighter for a buck, pull the (flint) spring, cut it to the factory length, polish the trigger sear, apply some grease and you'll have a nice low effort trigger that passes the bump test. I'm on my fourth 457 and I've modded them all the same way.
Ruger 10/22 Trigger springs work as well. You can get the 3 pack kits with different weight springs for around 10 bucks on Ebay and then just cut down to size.
I have not tried the timney trigger but the Yodave in my cz457 mtr breaks consistently at 8 oz, down from what I thought was a quite good 1lb2oz stock trigger pull on the lowest break, thanks for bringing this content
Thanks for watching I appreciate it.
I have only had the chance to shoot one Timney trigger so far but the shoe felt great and it was a great pull all around. - Great video!
Thanks man I’ve had pretty good luck with them.
What I do to get a consistent placement of the trigger pull gauge ( I have the same gaude ) I use 2 tight fitting orings on the trigger shoe, one above and one below the gauge pull. Without that I too get variances in readings. Also the further down the shoe the lighter the pull and conversely further up the shoe the harder the pull due to leverage. I place the gauge where the center of my finger tip pad rest on the trigger shoe. Hope that helps.
I’m really looking at these two for my 457. And that chassis as well.
Man we use the XRS chassis a lot and it has never let me down!
Man that rifle is awesome!!
Steve R. is right about the 'leverage' thing. Timney advises to put the gage right at the tip of the trigger. My 457 V-MTR is down around 3-5 oz but I get variances, mainly cause I have virtually NO Over-travel. This causes me to 'hit the wall' after release and while most tests are 3-4 oz I get some 8-9 thrown in too. I've seen the same thing with other YT vids where the Wheeler does this often. You have to watch closely to see the gage 'exactly when' the trigger clicks, it's often a couple oz lower than the "Final reading'.Your tests here were very consistent as to gage placement on the trigger but I couldn't tell what the gage was reading "right when" it fired.
Can you see 22LR bullet holes at 200 plus yards with the Riton scope.
Have you reviewed the jard 457 trigger. Ive been tring to upgrade my 457 varmint so i can do some local competitions but my rifle is lefthanddd and i cant find an affordable chassis that isnt custom and the timney will not fit the lefthand gun fo whatever reason. Jard has a lefthand trigger but i would like to see a review before i spend 200 buck.
Interesting. thx for the video. cheers
Hi. I enjoy the content on your channel.
I was wondering if you did a bump check to see if the sear broke when you had your adjustments finalized on the trigger.
Yes sir I did do the bump check, sorry I didn’t put in the video. I didn’t have any failures in the bump check.
Good video comparison. Do yourself a favor and get on the TriggersByScar waiting list. I have a 3oz. Single stage and a friend has a two stage set at 2oz. and 2oz. I found the McMasterCarr “611” spring to be lighter than the Yo Dave. I shoot benchrest so I prefer the lighter trigger. Subscribed.
Thanks for the info I’ll have to check it out.
Hey Chris, were you able to get that trigger to come in under 9 oz? I got my Yo Dave down to high 7 oz to 8 oz. Like you , I don't care for the CZ trigger shoe. If I could get the same pull out of the Timney I'd jump on it just for the trigger shoe, but I've seen many mixed reports oin pull weight.
So that rifle belongs to a friend of mine and he wanted it about 10 oz. it’s consistent there. I have a new CZ build coming up and it will use the Timney and I’ll test just how low it can go.
@@midwest_long_range Josh got his way down to sub 6 oz I think . But I have a friend that couldn’t get his under a pound .
I like the timney trigger but it takes an act of Congress to get one I have 3 457cz and have finally got three triggers from them but they are impossible to get a call through to I have explained that I can't use a computer but it still doesn't seem to matter I would surely like to get my 4th trigger from them how did you get in touch? I have my scope and rings all I
need is that trigger any suggestions?
Beagleman
I deal with them mainly online. if you are looking to get a trigger you can always call Phil at Midwest Gun & Pawn in Rogersville MO and he can take care of you.
What's the latest update on that trigger? Is it a keeper? I have one coming in this week.
I have a couple of updates on this coming but the short answer is yes, the trigger is solid and works great.
Thank you Sir.
I ordered the Yo Dave trigger kit several months ago and it has not arrived. I have contacted them and they have not addressed the problem.
Man I’m sorry to hear that.
Good to see . How about setting up a tuner . Mine are all different
How's that barrel tuner working? Worth investing into for accuracy? Got a review on the tuner?
I do have a couple of videos related to tuners, and they do seem to work though I will say that repeatability has come into question. The ATS tuner worked great on my Bergara and the harrels has shown a lot of promise. I’m trying to get my hands on a EC tuner
Not impressed with Yo Dave readings. I like my Jard Best of all for my CZ 457 MTR at 4 OZ.
Good Video. thanks.Believe The TARGET.. I like Flat Shoe Triggers myself.Depends on the Stock or Chassis actually.
Or you can order a spring pack from McMaster-Carr. 12 springs for $14 delivered. My trigger is at 6oz. Yo's is over priced.
I’ll pay the extra to have a straight shoe.
What is the mcmaster carr number for the springs?
The Yodave trigger spring is a scam. The perfect trigger spring for the CZ-457 is a factory original sear spring for the Ruger 10/22. These are just the right size, and are available for $3.99. You probably already have one lying around somewhere.
If Yo Dave trigger spring is a "scam" then there's an awful lot of happy "scammed" trigger spring owners out there 😉
But there's no reason to pay ten bucks for a spring when you probably already have one laying around somewhere. @@nigelbase1196

You did a trigger pull test for the timney, but not the Yo-Dave trigger.

Yes, but you still understood what I said!
