    I apply more or less the 10 commandments of Rotem and I progress but so slow. I want to cry. This is when I discoveted that as student of the art, we have to authorize ourselves to waste time walking in dead ends, walk back and try a new way becoz thinking about efficiency and work smart and result all the time just lead to burnout.
    I dream that one day I'll be a decent musician and thats keeping me going.

    Really nice! - especially about writing music. I used to write all the time. Then i got into jazz and my process changed and became more of a study...until i realized I can still write when im learning standards. I should write, love to write and learn the most when i write. It's part of the music.

    I´ve learned instruments to write music, not the other way around. But i do enjoy playing and singing others too.

    I love all you do Rotem. For me it’s about listening and writing - I’m too quick to fill a space with a reflex.

    Hey Rotem! Great instructions.
    As I mentioned at the comment section of your latest video, can you please teach us the walking bassline+chords of the jazz-blues? I mean the one you played with Peter Bernstein. Thanks!

    Thanks Rotem! Somehow I still don't get to writing - when I compose something it's always on the basis of improvisation - during which I get the idea I like and if Im struggling how to continue I always find theory beneficial. But I understand that writing is important - however, before putting it down on a piece of paper, one should probably have to hear it in his head - that's the point where I have to improve - Ear training!

    2 and 10 :) doing extremely small and simple stuff in the style that you want is super important. Then it really becomes like driving where you don’t have to think about it.

    #4 - an intermediate, trying to make this happen. I find I'm either on one side - learning a concept and/or technique - or learning an existing piece or song where the concepts are already baked in. Bridging this by taking the concept "out of the lab" is a challenge!

    Would you consider live-streaming a type of performance? It feels similar to performing live but somehow less pressure.

  • @visionset1456
    @visionset1456 3 года назад

    The one I have a problem with is listening closely to just a few albums that represent best the style you are going for. If only I knew! I'm influenced by many styles from avant funk to math rock. I guess I should pick 1 from each. But it does make it hard when you are trying desperately to arrive at something new and your own.

    What's up ? What weird Gibson are you playing ??? It looks like an L4-C with no F holes? Cherry finish ? Small block inlays ? and Epiphone vine inlay in the headstock ? What in Heavens is that ????????? I love it !!!!! > it must be custom made .
