Did you have two sets of filters? Or one skimmer and one filter? And was one was a screenmatic maybe? I am surprised that the return back to the pond was so strong. Was it really that strong with only gravity? Thanks!

Great videos, watched a few of them now and getting some good ideas and feeling confident about making a pond myself. Just one question though, and please excuse my ignorance, but if you are just wanting a plant and wildlife pond, do you need a filter?

I'm putting a concrete collar round a new pond to get a level. Managed 15-20cm height. Never seen anyone adding a sub-base, should I need one? Rebar, yes or no? Finally, can I add the cement ballast mix in dry then apply hose, or should I premix with water?

Brilliant as usual. A question guys I’ve just introduced the first 4 koi to my new pond and after a couple of days only all are flicking/flashing the fish are from a very reputable dealer and my water parameters all seem ok, any ideas, is this normal?

Hi Nigel, thanks for the comment. They are probably a bit stressed with being in the new pond, there will be something in the water that they are not too happy with. When they are stressed there immune systems dont work too well and become prone for some parasites. Best thing is not too over feed what so ever to keep ammonia and nitrite down, keep an eye on them, if they seem to get worse you may need to add an anti parasite treatment...we usually add in some cheap goldfish or something for the first few months to mature the filters, etc abit boring but patience is key thanks

Hi ,what a wonderful job you guys make building a pond. I am hoping that one day I can ask you to build a beautiful pond for myself. BTW your previous video about not putting stones and gravel in a pond with plants was absolutely spot on. It took me days and days of real hard work to empty and clean and cut back and sort out last years pond. So now it is set up with all plants in containers and no gravel or rocks on the liner. Last year's 3 goldfish and 3 more from the shop and it is looking pretty good. 😊🐟🐠👌🌻🌼 p.s at the end of the season or even during the season do I have to vacuum the bottom of my pond. I have a filter but it doesn't pick up all of the goldfish poop ,which just stays lying on top of the liner. 😮
