TROOP! The name stands for Total Respect Of Other People. They started as high school students and won a TV talent show called Puttin' On The Hits. Make sure you check out All I Do Is Think of You and Sweet November.

Theyre one of my favs.. I have this album.. "All I Do is Think of You" is my #1 fav..its an incredible slow song ..his voice makes me melt..its a classic 80s song and they remind you of New Edition because they were discovered by Michael Bivens of New Edition and friends with them. Another good song off same album is

Michael Bivins discovered Boyz II Men, not Troop. New Edition was still finding their footing as a group after losing B Brown at the time Troop came out....Mike Biv was not yet in a position to be a mentor until the 90s... Troop was on a show called "Putting On The Hits" in the mid 80s....and a producer from the show wanted to know if they could sing as well as they danced....they said yes....that producer got them on with Atlantic records...and the rest is history :)

"Spread My Wings" was written and produced by Chuckii Booker, and he is DEFINITELY someone you should check out - "Turned Away" and "Games" are straight CLASSICS.

Yes, I know TJ5 were the originals for “All I Do…”. I added (from them) for that reason, so I wouldn’t inadvertently lead them to search for a TJ5 that doesn’t exist.

They all definitely sing and Stephen Russell one of the lead singers did a lot of the choreography for this group … Troop was a dope group they still have hands in a lot of number ones that we hear today Stephen Russell is big and producing with the Underdogs they’ve been involved or even writing a lot of the number ones for other artists we hear today very talented

New Edition was the main R&B Boy Bands in the 80's so it appears all groups after mimicked New Edition which isnt necessarily the case. Back then, entertainers had REAL talent which consisted of singing and dancing. #Troop is one of the most underrated groups that's still making it happen today. Here in 2022 they still sound great and still hit those dance moves. BTW...JonJon one of the members have a very strong deep voice. Check a live performance of them on my page as recent as Oct 2021
