  • Shootout from the Semifinal Round of the 2007 IIHF World Junior Tournament, Canada vs USA
    ****************************************
    NOTE:
    This video was posted to show a great shootout and highlight some fantastic young players. It is a sports video for hockey fans.
    Unfortunately, despite warnings to the contrary, some people with nothing better to do than swear at users and insult nations abused the privilege of commenting on this video.
    As a result, it was impossible to keep up with deleting and policing the ridiculous and uncalled for comments, so comments have been disabled for this video.
    Again, my apologies to those who wanted to discuss good, clean hockey. Too bad a bunch of 14 year olds (age and mentally alike) ruined it for the rest of us.

    This was a classic shoot-out. Toews showed what he was made of in this performance: clutch ability and character. Chicago Blackhawks fans are very, very lucky to have him.
    Price also proved his worth in this performance. Montreal is lucky to have him.

    World meet Mr. Jonathon Toews. Three goals in one shootout. Absolutely amazing. North American hockey is definitely on the ride when you watch the quality of these kids on the ice.

    this game had some of the best rookies out there, on BOTH sides. Which is why I always love watching Canada vs USA.

    you're very welcome. I couldn't help it. All the talent in that tourney, the best shootout I've ever seen (amongst all the debate about it happening, etc). Oh yeah, and the boys bringing home the hardware.

    as a hockey fan, I really enjoyed this shootout. I would've said the same had Canada lost even. I'm a fan of hockey and excitement and I've never been so on edge as I was when this shootout was going on.
    Oh, and Johnson's a putz. Mocking the Canadian bench? No wonder he'll never make it in the NHL

    Patrick Kane named NHL Rookie of the Month with 16 points in 12 games and Jonathon Toews with 10 points in his first 10 NHL games (and counting). It's finally good to be a Blackhawk fan again.

    i'm watching this vid after the 07-08 nhl season, it is totally a classic. Most of the shooters in here are stars now eg price, kane, towes, muller, the competitions b/t kane and towes is incredible!!!

    As far as the shootout goes, both teams were stellar and Toews put Canada through to the gold medal. He's a great guy and a great player, who has spent the past 5 years playing in AMERICA for American schools and teams. So there's no need for any of this crap. Great game, great teams, great players. Enough said.

    I agree for the most part. I still think Winnipeg deserves another chance, although, yes, they'd need a new arena first. It just doesn't seem right that the western provinces have teams, as do Ontario & Quebec, & then there's Manitoba in the middle with nothing. I know Saskatchewan has nothing as well, but it's mostly farmland. I'd love to see a team move to Quebec or Hamilton, but I just think Winnipeg deserves one first. They'd give their team a lot of support. =)

    I am a proud Canadian and dam proud that we produce great hockey players. We love our sport and we should be proud of it.
    I also think we need to hold onto everything we can because you can't deny, and have to give americans their props, since they pretty much kick our ass at every other sport on the planet! Hell they kick everyone's ass. Their take at just about every single olympics proves it.

    I think you mean the 2006 World Baseball Classic. Major Leaguers were allowed to play in that contest, but a lot of MLB teams and players were worried about getting hurt for the MLB Season(of course). A few good MLB players still played, and it was a good upset win by the Canadians, even though you guys did not get past the first round. A lot of MLB players said that they were dissapointed in themselves for not participating, and that they will be ready for the 2009 World Baseball Classic.

    As much as Bettman wants the game to grow in the US he's also a business man. You gotta keep going wehre the money already is. If an opportunity comes for a team to come to Canada with HUGE potential to make money, it'll happen. Bettman may make some moves that make us fans scratch our heads but he's not a complete moron.

    It's actually a software/device you have to purchase from any decent tech store. I'm in Canada and the price here was about $100. Maybe a bit steep but my house has 1 TV and I'm the only sports fan so it helps me out A TON! Oh, and it was a Christmas present. I've gotten good use out of it.

  • @friskie1986
    @friskie1986 17 лет назад

    Yes, I agree. I think the only team that gets a decent amount of fan support down south is Tampa Bay. The northern U.S. and Canada are where people generally are hungrier for hockey. In Canada, I'd love for Winnipeg to have a team again, and in the U.S., perhaps they could try Connecticut or Montana.

    During a football game there is about 5 minutes of actual play and action. Hockey games can have end to end rushes and into triple overtime. I rest my case.

  • @rut1212
    @rut1212 17 лет назад

    Bettman and right, two words that should never be used in the same sentence. He's already in over his head, there's at least 5 teams that shouldn't be in the US (ie. Florida, Carolina, Washington, Atlanta, St. Louis), but that's where the CORPORATE money is, all the money from the businesses. If all you needed for an NHL team was support, there would be an NHL team in every town in Canada.

    Wow, I appreciate you posting that. Among other things, I tried recording this one straight from the television but the quality turned out like dung; it wasn't worth uploading to RUclips. TSN Broadband videos run perfectly on my computer, so maybe I'll give it a shot next time using your method.

  • @friskie1986
    @friskie1986 17 лет назад

    I agree with everything you said except for the losing part. The Canada-US rivalry is big; I hate losing to the States in hockey in any competition (not that it happens very often, hehe).
    I also couldn't stand how Mueller skated right in front of the Canadian bench after scoring his goals. Thank goodness he had to skate through a party after missing his third attempt. Have fun in Phoenix, Peter (!)
    By the way, thanks for posting this. =)

  • @friskie1986
    @friskie1986 17 лет назад

    Haha. That's so very true about the Devils' arena location. I suppose the team may get a lot of moral support, but no revenue/money support from ticket customers. With the new building in place, we'll see what kind of fans they really have.
    And I agree with your last line. I just wish they'd move some of the southern franchises north. Tampa can stay; they're doing OK. But Phoenix, Carolina, Anaheim?! Phoenix should be in Winnipeg...

  • @Sk3L370R
    @Sk3L370R 15 лет назад

    That was a close shoot out damn, I like both teams but i am a Canadian, any way good shoot out. (CANADA JUST WON AGAINST USA IN 2008 TOURNY). Yeaaa!

  • @JBomber22
    @JBomber22 17 лет назад

    yes i totally agree, winnipeg is dying for a new team, they should have a team moved there, or atleast start a new one...some of those southern US teams are horrible for attendance, but one team that suprises me is Dallas, ppl seem to love hockey in Texas, a Houston team would prolly do pretty good with fans. And Canada needs some new teams aswell, Hamilton would of been a good one or i think somethin out east, like halifax maybe but i dunno.

    I do! Remember when Canada won in 1985, 88, 90-91 then 5 straight from 93 to 97 and now 4 straight again 2005 - 2008? See unlike the USA when we win a major international gold medal we don't need to classify it as a "miracle"

  • @OnRockIT
    @OnRockIT 15 лет назад

    Did you watch the game? We came back from a 3-0 deficit. Canada outplayed your country so much, it abjected your teams status in hockey! At one point where one of your players had the golden opportunity to score and tie the game. Colin Wilson had time, space but Tokarski shut the door.
    It was not a close game at all. The thought that Team USA might win against Team Canada wasn't even a plausible idea.

  • @LacrosseBoss
    @LacrosseBoss  16 лет назад

    it's a thing called passion. Scoring on Frazee was actually quite simple. I guess the difference between American and Canadian hockey players is passion. Which could explain our 4 year run of golds and your two year run of being shut out of the medals.

    Jackpot, there have only been six I think in Canada over the tournament's 30+ year history. It usually cycles through Sweden, Czech Republic, I think the USA has hosted a few times. The thing is, teams are not guaranteed a spot in the tourney. You can get relegated so the IIHF usually awards it to teams they think will make it (Russia, Canada, etc). Switzerland had the tourney in 2010 but declined because they may not be in it.

  • @JuliusJell

    Basketball was invented by a Canadian-American, since he lived in the U.S. for the majority of his life, therefore it's an American sport. If it's made in the USA, it's claimed by the USA. We don't take a liking in it, we dominate it. Almost like Canada and hockey.

    - The Devils always have good goaltending. They wouldn't be anywhere without Brodeur.
    - No matter how good their team is, some cities just don't support their franchise. E.g.: Devils have 3 Cups in the last 12 years, and their building was 2/3 full in round TWO of the playoffs this year. @_@
    - USA's only good players right now either really old (Chris Chelios), or really young (Phil Kessel, Jack/Erik Johnson, etc.). They don't have any good players in their prime right now that I can think of.

  • @stocktalkjay
    @stocktalkjay 15 лет назад

    dont put down USA program too much, they only have these guys: Zack Parise, Phil Kessel, Patrick Kane, Dustin Brown, Paul Stastny, Chris Drury, Brian Rafalski, Ryan Suter anchoring on D. Tim Thomas (Vezina) in net.
    They have a supporting cast of Jamie Jamie Langenbrunner, Scottie Gomez, Ryan Kesler, T. J. Oshie, David Backes, Joe Pavelski.
    The team even left guys like jason pominville, bobby ryan, blake wheeler off the team.

  • @LacrosseBoss

    if there were Canadian teams IN the NFL, maybe that'd be a valid argument. Also, Canada doesn't give athletic scholarships so it makes the most sense for a great athlete to play college sports in the US. Go ask Sidney Crosby though if he most proud of being Canadian or playing for a US school. And, I think you're forgetting the Toronto Blue Jays winning back to back World Series in 92/93. Last team to repeat. Thanks though

    During the time of 1996, I was a kid. But I'm flattered you think I'm much older. Not arrogant. It's analysis. The way your American players are playing right now, you've got no chance of winning. Ryan Miller would make a decent goalie, but I wouldn't favor him over the likes of Luongo, Price or Brodeur. Frankly, the Russians and Swedes will be more of a challenge.

    I understand Bettman wanting to go where the money is, but I don't get why he considers the far south to be the ideal place for that. Also, don't you consider there to be enormous profit potential in almost ANY Canadian province? Winnipeg fans are dying for a franchise. Hamilton sold 80% of season tickets without a team even moving there. Toronto's ticket prices are among the most expensive in the NHL, yet the ACC sells out every night. It just doesn't make sense to me.

This was a team that posed a significant threat to us and we came out on top. And if you think Canada won't win gold, then who will?

  • @carey612

    If somebody(chris27438) is going to badmouth the players who play and watch basketball and call them stupid thugs, then I am going to point out to that person, that his precious hockey is more well known to have supposed "brutes" in it. If he characterizes ball players as thugs, then he has to classify hockey players as trailer trash brutes. One bad stereotype, deserves another.

  • @LacrosseBoss

    it's a miracle because USA won! Not our fault you guys can't figure out how to put a team together. And that's why Canada will never fall out of top spot. We can take college kids, minor leaguers, NHL rookies or 10 year vets and still drag your behinds all over the rink.
