Great interview, great market analysis. Exhuastive list of options produced. However at the end when interviewer asked which 1 would yoj go for candidate chose AI. I would have chosen Autonomous taxi, because that eliminates the dependedy on suppliers(drivers) , the impact km services would have been far more compared tO AI.
Is important to define in what market your new strategy is going to be applied, probably in this example it was the US. It surprised me, when I heard, in the substitutes part, that bicycles and mass transportation are not evolving nor interesting, when I would say that the opposite is happening in many places. The trend is to use more mass transportation and bikes (regular/electric). Please correct me if I am wrong.
Hi Jose, I see what you mean about bikes, what with electric and shared bicycle systems in many cities. I don't want to put words into his mouth, but perhaps Mark meant that these changes are not on a scale big enough to be a significant threat to Uber? Anyway, hope you enjoyed the rest of the answer.
@@IGotAnOfferPM I disagree. Consider this: uber via cars are not cheap and affordable to all. People are more and more conscious about their own health and the environment. If youre in london, driving is not a great experience -> you wont get from A to B the fastest; infact an electric bike may serve you better. Cars are also limited in capacity by way of the road: bikes are smaller and therefore can scale due to using less space; countries have also built specific cycle lanes to promote more growth in this market.
Sometimes, strategy or product design interview questions like this one are asked in phone screen interview round. How would the framework or answer format change in that situation in general? What about the question from this video? (I am assuming the phone screen will cover behavioral interview questions and maybe an estimation question, which would leave us with maybe 10-15 mins for the strategy/product design question). I have had that happen to me before in a FAANG phone screen
OMG!! mark! You just so good!! your structure, approach, and thought process, is one to be admire.. Your channel has really helped me a lot!! keep the good work...💪💪 just a quick suggestion, using a whiteboard to elaborate will really help.
Good approach but the lense is wider than he thinks. "The way you move" is the correct lense but youre competing with A LOT Of people. Consider Transport for London for example -> underground tubes, bus network, trams etc.
yes but another way to look at it is you're broadening the scope of opportunity. Thinking with this broader scope allows you to really double down on autonomous driving and network effects as solutions. Imagine if your Uber pool was autonomous and delivered a better experience than buses, subways, trains. If Uber can achieve that, they would drastically increase # users and revenue.

@@user-jp7ni5xv1ragreed, especially surprised that Uber’s investment into Lime was not highlighted. Clearly micro mobility is huge right now.
i learned so much from this one mock interview. Thank you so much for doing this.
Great to hear that, Archit, thank you :)

Great interview! …Id like to understand his point on decentralized transportation… isn’t uber decentralized already?
There is no way this wasn’t staged.
These interviews (from I got an offer and with this person) are the best ones I have seen, and helped me a lot in getting good offers.
