More than the answer , I love Mark's demeanor during all of his interviews. He is calm, relaxed , confident and starts with a smile . All important traits that help build a rapport with the interviewer and demonstrate resolve as a product manager.

Great structure for the answer, but it's not focused on RUclips Analytics, the platform that provides value to creators by stremlining their channel performance to help them grow their audience - the entire answer is built for the RUclips ecosystem in general.

Slightly confusing. In the beginning, it seemed as if Mark was looking at YT Analytics as a product, primarily, to be consumed by creators. But then very quickly, it shifted from that to a product to be consumed by YT employees/leadership.
Secondly, on the question of what could be leading to increase in revenue but drop in engagement, I was hoping it would be related to increase in ads or something related.
PS: Just being an armchair critic :)

I agree on this. In the beginning it was assumed that Mark is the product manager for YT Analytics, but then he answered all the questions as if he were a PM for RUclips.
The target consumers of the YT analytics should be the creators, right? I was so confused the whole time while watching this video.

For the last question on DAU going down while Revenue continues going up. My answer would be that big content creators are generating most of the consumers and only entertaining a niche of consumers. But other consumer's are not finding videos that are entertaining to them. So my idea would be that smaller content creators are not incentivized enough monetarily to create more content that will attract more consumers to watch videos. So providing more monetization incentives to these creators would help boost DAU so consumers will find more entertaining videos to watch. Does this way of thinking sound right for that question?

I feel more of the focus should be on product health metrics (user engagement, overall monetization) vs metrics that are of interest to creators (insights)

Exactly, the answer is not even related to the question

@@sathwikps8076 i kinda disagree. because at the EOD, the questions is if youre the PM of youtube analytics what are the metrics are you going to be looking at. RUclips is MOSTLY a 2 sided community. creators and viewers and some in between. and considering how youtubes main engine is the content that it provides, i feel that there is more value in understanding how the creators are using the space to CREATE the content. thats just my 2 cents. i understand where you are coming from, but i dont think he necessarily did not "answer" the question

@@japanboy31415 but they've been discussed about what are the metrics for in the "clarifying question" part, and the interviewer said that they are mainly for measuring the success or the product health of google anlaytics, so the metrics should be on whether the analytics product works well for its users (basically are the creators that discussed in this case) rather than the metrics that the creator want to monitor daily in the analytics product~

It seems like Mark kept going into metrics that were of interest to the general RUclips product and not specific to YT analytics. For example, the discussion about the 80:20 rule for monetizable content creators sounds to me like out of scope

Sorry for the late response on this Luis. I can't speak for Mark but I can see your point about that part being slightly out of scope. That may have been my bad as an interviewer for not making the focus of the question clear enough. Thanks for your feedback!

How would that be out of scope? So you want to increase adoption for YT analytics but also want to keep an eye on moneization i.e. overall revenue because thats whats central to YT, no point in increasing adoption of analytics in a vacuum, now when you do want to track overall revenue you also want there to be balance between user groups to make sure its not only the bug guys making all the money and one way to do that is to see if only big guys are using your product or its evenly used.

I have a question. When Mark is asking for time to think, how much time is acecptable? 1 minute? 5 minutes? less more?
    Thank you!

Unlike our coaches I'm not an ex-interviewer at Google, but I'll try to answer:1-2 minutes just thinking is fine, any longer and I think you'd need to be communicating your thought process with the interviewer. Tom
