Yet another joystick waggling, event-based title from Konami, but hurdles and pole vaults are replaced with monkey bars and shooting ranges. The idea is you're a raw recruit trying to make through boot camp to graduation, but while this sticks broadly to the same formula as Hyper Sports and Track and Field, it doesn't have quite the same endearing qualities of those titles.
Your reward for surviving basic training is being despatched on a one-man mission to rescue a hostage from an embassy during an attack by masked terrorists. This is just a dull Green Beret knock-off without the extra weapons.
To be quite honest, if you're looking for an activity guaranteed to make your wrist ache, there are far better alternatives to Combat School...

COMBAT SCHOOL was brutal 😹, but awesome on the Commodore 64 😺👍🕹️.
I had that game as a disk version with a playable demo version of GRYZOR on the b-side.

Now this is an obscure game, never saw it in an arcade -- but it's easy to see why this didn't have lasting power.
Definitely some light vibes of the classic film "An Officer and a Gentleman" (1982)

One slight correction, AL: the arcade version was trackball originally because I recall seeing it at Southend back in the day. Never played it myself, however. (^_^)
