Played this so much (as Top Gunner) at a local pizza place after school. And maybe once or twice when we'd skip class... oh man the memories!! Furthest we ever got was just over halfway I think. Cool seeing beyond that all these years later.
Yeah a lot of early Konami and Capcom games were like that. Rush n Attack is another Konami game where the only thing the arcade version has going for it is the visuals. On the Capcom side, almost all their early arcade games got far superior NES ports - Bionic Commando and Trojan are two examples.
I played the NES version of this game. I never knew (I think) that there was an arcade version of this game. Not bad for both games, except if you have less than 10 captives, you can't pack any more in your jeep.
This was the game for my dad. He served 5 month in the army from 1979 to sometime in early 1980. He was kicked out during training for something. He always fancied himself a war hero though and would tell anybody who listened he was in the army. He would play this game constantly until he was arrested while playing it while he had his penis out. I guess he was rock fucking hard too. While in jail he told people how he was a veteran and did a lot of stuff like on this game.
Here's the four things (that might not have been obvious in this video) that made this game _such _ a killer. 1. The jeep turns at a fixed rate through 16 directions (not the 8 you can actually indicate on the joystick), making it tough to aim precisely. 2. The gun, for some truly bizarre reason, can only fire _straight up._ No, the maker of this video wasn't trying to add some challenge. 3. The main weapon gets reset to its weakest power (hand grenade) whenever you lose a life, which generally means you're going to lose the rest in short order. 4. *There is no continue.* Run out of lives and that's _it._ This never made it to any of my arcades, but I did play it on emulator, and the prospect of anyone making it even halfway through was just about unthinkable. So yeah, great job showing us what it took! And why the mid 80's were a bit of a dark age!
Ah Yes, my favorite arcade Game known as Jackal: The Military Clown Car. FUN FACT: Clown Cars are The only vehicle that can Store infinite amounts of people, items and Especially clowns inside of it. The Amount of things it can Store deppends on how much ya Stuff into it, and Yes, The more things ya PUT in it, The BIGGER it gets on The inside.
Tbh at least unlike the NES version,it has a passenger limit. And if the amount of crew from the intro is correct then you might just about be able to stuff 10 guys on a military jeep. Won't be comfy or anything but you might just about can
Perfect played. But, im always wondering what happened to those soldiers that you couldnt take to an helicopter?? Does they despawn after passing away too much out of range? Or just there is no other helicopter, only one per helipad?
Strictly speaking, it's not necessary to rescue _anyone._ You're probably not getting very far without powerups, but other than that, if you don't care about points you're perfectly free to leave those poor POWs to their fate. Hey, it's a video game! 🤷♀
@@mattkennedy6115Now I've truly seen it all. When you literally try to excuse the game having a passenger limit and sometimes forcing you to leave men behind with'MUH MEN WERE TOUGHER BACK IN THE 80S UNLIKE NOW'holy shit for a generation so tough you sure get pricked and annoyed and whine a lot about menial things in the current day don't you
Im trying to find a game that is very similar to this one, but it was a back car, and you can get out of the car when was damaged and get into a new one, do someone remember that game?
I agree the Japanese version of top gunner and American version of jackal is a fun game made by konami in 1988 konami and capcom knows how to make great games with unforgettable music

I knew I wasn't the only one that played this as Top Gunner at my local pizza shop as a kid too! (Papa Dino's)
Despite not looking as pretty, Jackal on the NES is the superior version.

That's the most badass Jeep ever existed
Too bad the very final boss is only fought on the NES/Famicom version which is that goddamn giant flamethrower tank
This game is a masterpiece. Incredible run. Just rereleased on Nintendo Switch.
What is this, a clown car with guns?

They were probably rescued after the final boss was defeated 🤷🏿
been trying to do this since 1986. I will get there eventually
That was amazing. I could never get past the first lvl
holy crap, i had NO clue there was an arcade version of this game! I used to play the hell outta this game on NES way back then loved it!! 👍👍
1986!!!
This lools like it would be fun at the arcade, i didnt know it was ported for that
ironically, both Jackal and Contra were far superior on the NES despite having inferior hardware
Cannon Fodder is somewhat similar game...
Me acuerdo que está Recreativa estaba pegada a la de House of the Dead, y siempre veía cómo otros jugaban
The game wasn't easy as it seems, it gets suprisingly difficult later on.
There's a very similar game on Steam. Blazing trail
Extreme mental strength!!!
guess the game is fine with the player leaving men behind.
To be fair he's wiping out so many enemies that they won't have any trouble getting to the helipad on foot.
Everytime I play jackal I kill all enemies save all the soldiers and beat all the mini sub bosses

It was the 80’s. People were tougher back then

Fun game.
no entiendo como gané este juego de niño, es muy dificil.
Jackal is so cool! And the NES version is very good too!!
NES version was better in every way except graphics
@@martinlutherking6550 It is true. But I like 8bit graphics.
@@marcelocosta5176 i like the 8 bit graphics better too, more vibrant colour
arcade version looks better than NES or I think because of the emulator
Jackal Arcade < Jackal NES
This was super hard!
No ending?
Lot of old Konami games were like that. Gradius and Life Force didn't even have a text blurb.
Buenas amigo donde lo puedo descargar para ps3 en pkg

Guerrilla War NES?

Top gunner for the famicom disk system jackal for the Nintendo entertainment system conoel decker lieutenant bob sergeant quint corporal gray
The NES version is way better than the arcade version.
Nes classic soundtrack better than
NES game was better then SNES
There is no snes version.
