Fun fact: This game was originally going to be about a pair of police officers fighting criminals in a city. That was until one of the staff started reading a book about Che Guevara, and thought it was a cool concept for a game. Also, I love how the bosses flip you off. Surprised that wasn't censored for the US release.
23:09 "Batista was known for climbing on rooftops and shimmying sideways in an alternating fashion while laughing maniacally for hours on end, A habit which lead Che and Fidel to lead the revolution and ultimately overthrow him as he was keeping everyone within five kilometers of El Capitolio awake at night with his constant heavily compressed chuckling."
Well, along in the closer distance, the general riding a locomotive and shouting "Fireeee!!" every 3 seconds being in his job description when he encounters any trespasser, then the revolution is pretty much more than understandable.
Regular citizen "Dammit Batista, get of our roofs and go back to your Palace. Some of us have to work tomorrow. Why can't you be a normal dictator like the other Central and South American ones?"
25:38 "And historians always forget to mention about the climax of the war when Castro glitches through Batista's castle, chases him out of cuba, gets bombed while celebrating, and respawned at the jetty"
Awsome longplay man, i used to play the arc ver. But never get past mission 3 (1crd) but the nes version i can finish that one.. A the memories of a time when there was no internet and everything was so new... Thanks again man for the upload :-D
The graphics of this PCB (and Time Soldiers) look almost like "HD" even on a 15khz arcade monitor, they look so "crisp"? don't know how to better describe it.
you jump quickly to conclusions but I decided to replay , there is nothing and no one that I hate , I just like the original better and its my opinion not saying if its better , you say your opinion that matters to you and we leave at that , I dont see anyone being hater , but I like to discuss things and say my perspective , nes is less powerful then arcade that original runs but its just my opinion , do whatever you like but dont call someone hater because of that .

Castro actually would have gotten a chance to play this, as he didn't die until 2016. If he actually did play this is one of history's greatest mysteries.
questo gioco aveva la leva che oltre a muoversi avanti-indietro-destra-sinistra ruotava su se stessa a così facendo l'omino si girava a destra o a sinistra
Coming back to this... Even the final boss is lackluster. All you do is destroy the turrets and win? I see why the Leader turned into a fucking mech at the end, not to mention you actually KILL HIM!
can you tell me on which console this you play this game when recording? or was it a pc? also did you use joystick or keyboard if joystick which version? i do love this game but i cant find good copy and not sure which joystick to use to get best experience.thanks
You need to set keys. In MAME you have "Input (this game)" option. Then within it, you have "Position analog dec" and "Position analog inc". First one is for rotating to the left, second one to the right. I use WSAD keys for up/down/left/right and QE for rotating-left/rotating-right.
The game uses a custom controller that turns in all directions your character on one swap and another to move. So normal controllers won't work natively unless you fix it. It is better to get a dual analog and use the left for the direction turn and the right to move your character
Without original music, all this stuff is a dummy. Like the third Diablo, which is inferior to the second simply because the second was also woven for a good third (or maybe for the half) by an insanely talented soundtrack.
Same thing here. I played it as kid before 1990 in some amusement park that came in town. I remember that I lost pocket of coins in a few minutes on it. Thank God that park soon left the town, or I would be totally broke that summer.
Heidern would've been a kid during the timeframe this game took place in. This wasn't his guys that went on this mission, but Che Guevara and Fidel Castro.
@Tommy Power This is old shitty run based on luck which I was thinking even to delete. Check my newer run without deaths, you'll see much better playing. Read description of tricks and tactics used. Also I have video how to beat all bosses on hardest. I would like to read your comments on those videos.
+Timesmanify Nes version is worst I played it on arcades it it was the best game of those times ,its hard for some people who played it on emulator and younger guys to really appreciate those games but I respect your opinion
From what I recall, the NES version had more weapons and was more fleshed out in terms of level design. The arcade version had the rotating joystick, however, which allowed for far better control. It also had much better graphics, obviously. Pros and cons on both sides.
+Andy Bondy I know right. The nes version got rid of the 8-way system that snk games like Guerilla War and Ikari warriors are known for. It is a watered down sterilized version that requires no skill whatsoever. The different music was a small delight however.
My absolute favorite era of arcade graphics, sound, and gameplay right here. Late 80s to early 90s...👌
At 4:05 is the first appearance of the evil king. You can't kill him, but you kill plenty of his soldiers.

I must say, the NES music to this game is indescribably better.
+dahwriter no it sucks sounds like bunch of beeps , I wish the could do 16 or 32 bit version
your welcome but for me not
and sounds older with those beeps and cracks , for me just the original sounds better , and the music is different and more repetitive

Just a sick game, lost a fortune in coins and time on this game...loved the sound track and effects
I've only played the NES version back in 80's. Classic game.
Hail the heros of the Revolution!
Wow. My friend and I played this so much back in the day (late 1980's)...Ah the memories of my youth....
Ikari warriors vs guerrilla war
I played the absolute shit out of this game on NES and didn't know until 5 minutes ago that an arcade version existed.
This revolution has been televised! Great job.
I remember playing us as a kid on Arcade I love it..
I wonder what Che himself would have thought of this game since its based on him and Fidel.
Castro actually would have gotten a chance to play this, as he didn't die until 2016. If he actually did play this is one of history's greatest mysteries.
Dang! So the enemies can kill the hostages too in the arcade version.
1:37 EPIC!
On behalf of the oppressed in this video : Thank you for saving us from evil and tyranny.
LOVED this game
OMG, my friend and I played this all the time at a local pizza place. I can almost smell that pizza cooking watching this video.
You gotta be really good to beat this by yourself without dying once. I couldn't get very far when I played it. It's really long for an arcade game.
4:05 i swear till this day it still looks like laffin boy is givin you the finger
Yeah, it's quite obvious.
hasta la victoria siempre

Long live the Republic. By the way, the original (covered) music is much more suitable for these names.

if you leave your tank unlocked someone will come and fill it up with petrol
If there's a game dat needs 2 b remade, it's dis here! I swear!
Se parece a Fidel pero pelea como el mismo Ernesto che Guevara :)
El primer control es el Che, si juega a 2 Fidel es el segun control
The Hostages can be pushed off if not Rescued on time.
Great memories from childhood!😄😄😄👍👍👍
on amiga would be the best conversion , that platform had better sound then pc for long time
I have to wonder if this is how Batista was toppled in real life?
can you tell me on which console this you play this game when recording? or was it a pc? also did you use joystick or keyboard if joystick which version? i do love this game but i cant find good copy and not sure which joystick to use to get best experience.thanks
PC, keyboard :(
Where's the sewer and minecart stages? Are they only in the NES version?
BTW, great longplay.
Yep. They're NES exclusives.
For it is a rotary control game, what control setup would you recommend for an emulator?
If you use a standard controller with shoulder buttons or underside triggers, i recommend mapping the individual rotation buttons to those buttons
Well, I lost couple lives in this run. I think that Castro couldn't afford that in his revolution. And for Che, we know how it ended.
Is it just me, or is the Commander at the end of the first level flipping the player character off? 🤨
Yep, in addition to giving you an "up yours".
Its very Similar to Ikari warriors, the final boss is almost the same
25:40 Did the game kill you during the ending lmao
Hard as nails this game. Could never get past level 1
That game should have been on the Neo-Geo Home System...
Cómo puedo descargarlo????
How the hell can you figure the controls??
loved to play this game
Nice tank trick
Yeah man, I didn't know that strategy....
May sound stupid, but I downloaded the rom and my character cant shoot any direction but up! How the hell do you get him to turn his damn body?!?

The communist revolution in a coin up arcade machine. Che would be proud! Lololololo
Hahahah The best comment
This is good!
They should've made this for Mega-Drive/Genesis, the music sounds very Genesis'y
No surprise, The genesis was mostly using arcade motherboard hardware type similiar to those in the mid 80s
To be honest, it sounds more like the AdLib soundcards old MS-DOS games had.
Only time I ever supported Che and Fidel 😝
Normally you support people like Batista?
@@emanueleg.4651 you have to support one or another? What about none of them?

How can I play this game now? Is it playable on Windows?
You can use MAME (an arcade emulator), but you'll have to find the ROMs somewhere. Good luck!

Do you know how to make Guevara look elsewhere?
You need to set up twin stick controls for that.

This and Ikari Warriors
As a communist I must say this is all true.
un buen juego pero muy difícil.
How is this game not on the switch?
Coming very soon actually :)
It already is. The first time was via the SNK 40th Anniversary Collection. The second way as of today is as a stand alone game via arcade archives
Looks like ikari worriers
Same company.
it took me 10 hours to finish it 😐
wishlisted
Music is bad not the same compared to the nes version the one I grew up with playing
Already fixed, bro )

For some reason I like the NES version better.
This isn’t Ikari Warriors??
Nope, another game by SNK.
11:21 !?
Commie Ikari with better sound effect.
You get to save hostages, too, which creates interesting combat scenarios.
