  • MIG-29 High Altitude - 8-Camera view + Flight Data.
The flights on the Sokol airbase in Nizhny Novgorod stopped in September 2017 unfortunately after 11 years of operations to fly the high-performance fighter jets.
We do provide flight experiences with high-performance fighter jets for more than 16 years. Clients fly on the seat in the second cockpit. That is a MIG-29UB, a trainer version. The flight student is sitting in the front seat; the instructor is seated in the backseat by training flight. For our kind of flights, the test pilot in command is sitting in the front seat.
Info to the speed digits what you see on the screen:
Left: True Air Speed (TAS). The rate will be measured in knots per hour (kts) also in this case, even in kph. Most used for take-off, low-level flights, landing approaches and landing.
Middle: Indicated Air Speed (IAS). The speed will be measured in MACH.
Comparing IAS to TAS: TAS is reducing every 1,000 feet by 2% to IAS. That is related to the air pressure in which the jet is flying.
You can read in "Tenacity - The Book of Stars" the client testimonials of more as a decade in which they flew high-performance fighter jets:
    www.space-affairs.com/en/miss...
The video (and others we make) was made with GoPro Cameras, what are the state of the art action cams nowadays. These cameras using ultra-wide lenses with 170 degrees, precisely those cameras are known for. It's called barrel distortion, which gives more sized imagery. We do not have to talk about more physics, laws and knowledge, what is known since hundred of years.
And a final note to "The Edge of Space":
The border at the edge of space is defined by the Karman Line at 360,000 feet (100 km) altitude. This is undoubtedly a physical boundary, where aerodynamics stops, and astronautics begins.
The using of the expression "edge of space" is also referring to a region below the conventional 100 km boundary to space, which is often meant to include substantially lower areas as well, for flights with high atmospheric balloons or aircraft what are flying mostly more elevated than a typical airliner.

A note from us after all of the years again in regards to high-performance jet flights for civilians:
Most of you guys never flown in a high-performance jet fighter, even not in a normal plane. To prepare for such an adventure mainly took 6 months in advance, and a lot of work was involved, including showing up that the client had a good health status. We sent out specific documents about all the facts & figures involved in such a flight adventure. And only if the documents were filled out and the med-exam by a doctor (or even in some cases by a flight surgeon) were given, the adventure could be booked.
When a client did not take control of the jet by offering that by the pilot in command, it was his own decision. Most clients never sat in such a plane or even did aerobatics in their lifetime. In addition, by crossing the sound barrier, the blood pressure decreases, and so it could happen that a client felt a little bit tired.
Also, some clients closed their eyes during aerobatics and found later out that this wasn't a good idea, much better to keep their eyes open to see all of that what was going on outside the cockpit so that the equilibrium system can work properly and can adapt on the unusual situation.
We flew such fighter jets between 2002 and 2017 (then they stopped the flights for civilians), and there was not one client who vomit or didn't like the flight. Only one case appeared that a client had really struggled to make the pressure compensation by blowing through the nose, and later on, it shows up that he had the same issue as astronaut Alan B. Shepard has had, without knowing it. But even that did not stop him for to think about that that was his lifetime adventure.
Humans are different in reactions and feelings. Some showing it, some don't. And those who flew, we helped them to fulfil their lifetime dream.
Some of our clients wrote field reports or testimonials, which you can read here if you like: www.space-affairs.com/en/mission-control/testimonials/category:aeronauts
If you want to see additional pictures about that all, it is worth looking here: www.space-affairs.com/en/mission-control/media-gallery/aeronauts
    Thank you, and fly safe!

Its incredible really. I have thought for a while now that in comparison to everything else, like ship technology and all the other things that have been around for thousands of years, flight is still primitive by virtue of the fact that it is only 115 years old. The advances towards the SR-71 was only half a century which was staggering. We just had to wait for all other technologies to advance far enough to be able to make flight possible. In reality it is at the same technological level as everything else now, but on its own, it is still a baby. Its a true miracle that things like the SR-71 were designed with slide rules and brain power only. Incredible achievements.

People are different, especially those who never flown in a jet before finding themselves then finally in the backseater cockpit of a MIG-29, react differently. Mike learned fast that it wasn't a good idea to close his eyes. And because he didn't take the stick was the reason for having respect. He wanted to enjoy the flight at any second, and he didn't regret only one second.

I remember the first time I saw the Mig29 at Fairford and was present when the pair had their little mishap. Thankfully both pilots ejected safely. The reaction of the first pilot to touch down was , I think, the very epitome of a fighter pilot. We did also sometimes some filming the flights, without a GoPro cam (because it was in early stage of development). The footage is older, but we re-edited it in quality with the state of the art technology, and probably some will wonder what they could see there. Hi, just read your note on the Mig 29 that you wanted to fly in.
Check internet to see if there are flights to buy as there are many Migs around the world! If not available there other jets such as the L39. Also I can say for another aircraft to fly in is the
Gorgeous Extra 300. It is just beautiful
to fly, there is no lag in the stick and rudder, it’s instant movement!
The aircraft has so much power that
It will do anything with power set 160Kts. The Extra is excellent fly one!
I wish you jolly good luck whatever you
fly, and you’ll be wearing a big smile
      for many days!
      Enjoy your flying sport.
