From the early days, he’s been an extremely talented man and incredibly unique. If you listen to some of his tunes, they are very abstract and require a couple full listens, to truly get the meaning. I highly suggest giving some songs a play!

Drinkers drink for all kinds of reasons. It's important to not be simplistic or dismissive of the suffering it may come from. Some people may be optimistic but feel too sensitively to take the harsh light and sounds of everyday. And taking drugs regularly does not necessarily mean they're a miserable addict.
If you are touring and entertaining, then there will be drinking, and there will be drugs and women placed in the palm of your hand on a fairly regular basis. Hard to avoid even at low levels of local venue performance, it just goes with the territory. It's amazing any of them survive.

My favorite album by him is debut album Closing Time and it’s only album that sounds “normal” but that’s not why I like it, the production complements his voice anyway he has some solid albums definitely not for everyone but check out the one just mentioned

That’s a talented guy, he plays his outstanding role 24-7-365. I had the first meeting with Tom Waits back in 1988, that means I saw his outstanding movie, story, dream, drama, cirkus etc. etc. “BIG TIME”, and I was completely lost. Since then, now 36 years😅, I have followed this outstanding performer and his very speciel ways of doing his job so briilant and speciel. Tom Waits is suddenly one of a kind❤
I think it was his escape from reality that made him such a brilliant song writer.

Someone of us accept the consequences of our lifestyle choices, and some dont. I have to be honest and say some of my consequences have been incredibly difficult to process, but the overall experience I gain from psychedelics far outweigh the negatives for me, but that's just me. Others not so much.
