      Flexibility is very important to me. Thing happen that professional photographers should be able to adapt to. I like the idea of being able to use a premium phone with a premium light once ametuers see the price of the B10 I am almost positive they will close the page, in most cases anyway....
      Additionally for run and gun shooters having a minimalist kit for shooting content for maybe your instagram, this works great.
      I would personally rather have a full frame camera with lens options, but I would definitely like to have this as an option!
      Wonder what it looks like in the studio🤔?

    Don't get me wrong, this is really cool.
    I just can't see this being useful in the real world outside of RUclips Showcase ever. People who don't have a professional camera won't buy professional strobes and use them with their phones and professionall photographers who own strobes like this will not use their phone instead of their pro camera. The only use case I see is like behind the scenes social media type content, because you save one step of sending photos from the camera to the phone (but I think I would still rather use the camera shots).

    That is pretty cool, works like a real camera, but most people that use their iphone to take photos are not going to buy a flash worth more than their phone. That is the kicker, so this technique is only for pros that have the extra equipment. Which brings us back to, you need good lighting to get awesome shots.

    I like how Lume Cubes have been allowing this function for so long now and Profoto finally offers it as well. The cool thing about Lume Cubes though is they are tiny and super strong so it's very easy to keep a lot of them in your pockets and just grab them when you need them. Anyways. Well done Profoto!

      Fstoppers that’s correct :) I didn’t say they are better or stronger though. My point is it’s nice to see Profoto integrating this feature :) not many people who only use their iPhones for photography will own a Profoto light so this is basically a nice add on for mostly professional photographers only. Luke cubes on the other hand are affordable so I believe it’s more interesting to general people as well.

      at most like a galaxy photo...other phones using same sony camera sensor will be the same. it's not like apple make their own sensor. all the BS which phone company make better picture is BS, cause as long as the sensors are the same...the result won't be that far apart. and why you need LiDAR on a camera? not like you need to autopilot your phone.

    • @soban9685
      @soban9685 4 года назад +5

      @@ayayoutuber You got it wrong tho, Apple designs and Sony makes the sensor, it isnt like others can also use the same sensor or they are buying a Sony design, also sensor is a small thing in a phone, so most of the look and data comes from computational photography. It depends on how good their algorithms are,how better their chips etc. are. LIDAR will be used for depth data to get better depth information for portrait mode, but that isn't its primary feature, they'll just be trying to squeeze everything out of it, so they'll optimize and calliberate it with the camera modes, meanwhile it's primary feature will still be for AR usage, which apple is going towards in the future, that's why they implemented it in the ipads first to gather data to improve it in the future iphones.

    I am wondering: Usually the pictures from the modern smart phones look so "good" because of the computational photography. So the iphone is putting together multiple pictures for best exposure and to avoid noise. How is it now with this profoto app or lightroom mobile: Here you set the exposure for one picture that is captured, no improvement through the processor. Do these pictures still look as "good" as the ones from the native camera app? Even when using a flash, the small sensor now really should be a problem without all these artificial improvments?

    Nothing beats sensor size & quality glass, so a smartphone will never really replace a DSLR.
    But.. being able to shoot, edit and immediately share reasonably good quality images right on location at a significantly reduced cost.. how can anyone not see the potential in that?
    Not everybody's looking to have their photos printed large, and most professional shots end up being shared over instagram anyway.

      Jaime Duncan it does when connect to the x2 and A1 it’s just like using Nikon cls you set the flash power and settings in the app take the photo and either the x2 or the a1 triggers and fires the flash units. So your phone is kinda like a main commander through the app. Make sense ?

    Hi Patrick, the Godox Photo app also lets you use the Godox/Flashpoint lights with iPhones and also with Some Androids like the Galaxy S8, S9 and other models when paired via Bluetooth. It is compatible with the Flashpoint R1 Pro Mark II Trigger, the new model with Bluetooth, and the Godox X2 Trigger (for some reason the X-Pro does not have Bluetooth even though the Flashpoint R1 Pro Mark II does, maybe they will make a Godox X2 Pro)
    Compatible Smartphone Models of Shooting Function:
    HUAWEI Mate9 Pro, HUAWEI mate9, HUAWEI p10, HUAWEI p10plus;
    SAMSUNG S8, SAMSUNG S8+, SAMSUNG note8, SAMSUNG s9, SAMSUNG s9+

    Interesting... This couls be a great idea to start producing better flashes for smartphones. I think the point is not to substitute professional DSLRs, but it's a new idea for possible future flahes more portable that you could carry in your backpack and take much better photos with the camera you have in your pocket. I don't see any reason for carrying a stroke that big to take pictures with the smartphone, but I can surely see the point of the idea of having a smaller flash to take some high quality pictures with cameras that have small sensors. I don't know how that will be improved in the future, but I like the prospect.
    Good idea. I like it.
