FINALLY! Someone who gave the Twins their individual colours! Though I like the Twins' consistent blue liveries just like in the illustrations, I do respect your take on Donald and Douglas. While they miss the "wing-like" things on the smokeboxes, they look pretty good. Great job!
@@The_East_Charleston_Railway Tbh, I feel like Donald would be the one to keep black, and Douglas would choose blue, being the BR stowaway and all. Still is cool to see tho
Thank you! Not only were the different colored bricks fun, the lining is very distinct between the two models as well. It's nice too that Lego offers the flexibility to change which twin is which color. And yeah, it was unfortunate that I couldn't work in the smokebox "wings", but glad you like the models!
Thanks! I'd say it just comes with the experience of building Lego trains the past few years. There would be new skills to build up if I branched out into other types of builds.
I'd argue the interchangeable numbers and nameplates are more likely to lead to mischief! Jokes aside, I think it's nice to be able to represent the twins both before and after their shared repaint.
I am very impressed with your Donald and Douglas models, and I will be looking forward to seeing them both in either black or blue in the future basically having the twins painted in one color aside from the variety
Yay I was awaiting them! They all have a different detail to them with some cool build or special pieces, this and some other Lego steam engine creators including you are the ones who give me the help you make my own, I especially like all the little details
Loved this video! The comparison shots that were lined up perfectly were very satisfying. The tenders and the vans look super complex and I really appreciate how much work they must have taken! I also find it curious that the small square face for the Spiteful Brake van use the same pieces that the largest truck face in my 4-wide collection uses :)
Thanks Larry! The tender took a lot of fiddling! The goods van actually came together pretty quickly (designing the tender right before certainly helped). Always interesting to check out the difference in scale! Take care!
The twins are superb. Though, I would prefer them to be the same color, but I like the interchangeable features you gave them. Also, I love those new facial expressions for James and Duck. Hope you make of those for the other models.
Donald and Douglas are twins and have arrived from Scotland to help the Fat Controller, but only one engine had been expected. The twins meant well, but did cause confusion. The Fat Controller had given them numbers. Donald nine, and Douglas ten. But he was still planning to send one engine home.
Smart usage with James when showing the lner van, as in Dirty Objects, James’ train has a van at the start-even though the illustration shows a cattle truck, and I used an lms van
I love the twins and how u can change the labeling on each color plus i love the wings on the smokeboxs I have a suggestion for another build in the future being oliver but for the rolling stock I'd say toad and the four gang trucks the u.l.p van, rickety, sc ruffy, and fred perally or how ever his name spelled
Wow, I really liked your video of the motorized Lego models of Donald and Douglas 🖤💙, for your next video what character are you going to make?: Will you make a motorized Lego model of Oliver, the twins Bill and Ben, Trevol the tractor or for that matter? Duncan the narrow gauge locomotive.
Thank you! On the topic of Diesel, I started designing digital models all the way back around 2019 / 2020, and I did design Diesel around then. He's actually the only engine left from that era whose design I haven't updated and built physically yet, so I'd say it's only a matter of time!
One twin black and the other blue is a good way to tell them apart! Shame they didn't think of that for the episode ''Bill Or Ben?'' Series 17 from the CGI series.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏YAAAAAHOOOOOO-HOOOOOO!!! MILLIONS OF BIG CONGRATS!!! This IS your BIGGEST project yet!! The spiteful brakeman was SOOOO obvious to go with the Twins! And the LNER van is incredible! Though I do hope the twins will look identical one day. And all the different faces!! Can only the black twin be motorized? Why do only the twins tenders have their own running board? Do the truck faces and decals not separate or peel off when moved around? So glad you thought of my ideas! And like others, can’t wait to see the knapford station set!! I’ll be checking out your Lego instructions on rebrickable for sure!!
Thank you! Let me answer your questions: The blue twin can be motorized too (they're identical builds), I just kept my Circuit Cubes set in the black model to streamline filming. Most of the other tender engines were commonly illustrated without tender running boards, and their TV models (which I sometimes use as a secondary source of inspiration) don't have any. All the truck faces I've made so far consist of 2 Lego pieces, so I just have to be careful to hold the pieces together as I transfer the faces between models.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed the models! I can just barely fit my full Lego collection on a shelf that's built into my closet's back wall, although I may need a dedicated shelving unit for storage if I build more!
Thanks for the reply. Will take notes if I plan building your donald and douglas in the future (I have tried to build them them myself, but they turned out so wonky and I never tried to rebuild them since)
Nice Donald and Douglas models. Douglas' nameplates ought to be on the black engine, so as not to confuse viewers. Love the spiteful brake van. "You're a muckle nuisance," said Donald. "It's to leave you behind, I'd be wantin'." "You can't," said the van. "I'm essential." "Och! Are ye?" screeched Donald. "You're nothing but a screechin' noise when all's said and done! Spite Dougie, would ye?! Take that!" "Oh!" cried the van. "There's more comin' should ye misbehave!"
Glad you enjoy the models! I only kept the nameplates off the black model because the twins only gained nameplates after being repainted blue in the books.
FINALLY! Someone who gave the Twins their individual colours! Though I like the Twins' consistent blue liveries just like in the illustrations, I do respect your take on Donald and Douglas. While they miss the "wing-like" things on the smokeboxes, they look pretty good. Great job!

Possibly my favourite of your model showcases. Some stellar work pal, you’ve done the caledonian twins proud.

If you do another black and blue models, you won't have to swap the numbers and nameplates anymore. Fair point?
