Lake Norman is crazy on a good day. My sister has to drive I-77 across the bridge in the summertime girls will/would stand on their boats and flash people causing accidents. I know that has nothing to do with the video but wanted to emphasize lake traffic and their craziness.

The lake is like Las Vegas, what happens there stays there. Thanks for sharing your story Dawn Shook.

What would be the best way to get into this type of work as a side gig if there is nobody currently doing it (I.e. certifications, classes, etc.)? Thanks for all of the awesome content that you share and the knowledge that you share.

Hello Aaron Crumbley, we suggest any diver that is wanting to do this kind of work, to make sure they have proper training first. This may include going to a commercial dive school. After that you will need to make sure that you have proper insurance to do the job. At the end of the day, safety is always the biggest key, and you need to know when to say, nope, this job is too much for me. Never risk yourself for a pay check.

So does the top side guy pass down spare parts for the broken bracket you guys found?

I work in the electrical service industry and think about safety quite a bit. Recently at one of our local lakes we had two deaths by electrocution at a dock due to poor boat side wiring practices. Do you have to perform any sort of lockout ragout procedures when working in marinas or doing boat inspections?

Hello James, thankfully we have never been in a situation around a dock that presented that issue. However, we do tons of inspections of water intake systems, and Lick Out Tag Out is always put into place before we enter the water

Hi Brian, I've been watching your videos for years. Love your work.
I'd like to suggest that you purchase the gopro 9. At 2:00 of this video your hands were shaking and the whole screen was jerking around.
I bought the hero 9 and use the stabilization function. It works.
It would greatly improve your video. Just a suggestion from a devoted fan. :-)

Thanks for the Breaking H2o, we use a Sony Camera for our surface videos. Unfortunately, my hands were very cold on this day. We do use Go Pro's underwater for a lot of footage though.

I have another question serious this time. After Christmas I am starting the process to get my dive certification. I know once I have all the heels and whistles I can get a full face mask and won’t have to worry about it. But I have severe TMJ do you recommend a mask for a beginner to use besides the typical snorkel 🤿 mask?

Hello Dawn, we did a video comparing the two most popular mask, the Ocean Reef and the OTS. ruclips.net/video/dqS25GYgyTo/видео.html. You may find it interesting. Also, mold-able mouthpieces help with TMJ.

Hey Brian, on those dry gloves you where using was there any concern on them tearing for what you were doing as part of the inspection? I recently purchased a dry suit and had been looking at dry gloves, but i keep hearing from other divers that the outer glove can tear easy. So are you using some type of heavy duty variant?

Hello M3rl1n87, I use standard gloves from Si-Tech. Personally, I have never had an issue with them becoming ripped while working. With this being said, I have wore several sets out over the years. When you log as many dives as I do, most things tend to wear out over time.

They don't tear particularly easily :). Have seen people wear kevlar overgloves if they're working on particularly sharp stuff
