We just visited a Tulip Farm in Lavernia TX near San Antonio and saw parrot tulips there. They were gorgeous and I took reference photos to paint them! I'd love a copy of your book. I have watched this video a couple of times. Parrots tulips are so intimidating that I have painted most of your videos except for this. I am reading and painting your Everyday Watercolor Flowers and I am now on the parrot tulip tulip page. Read the instructions over and over. I'm new to painting watercolors after not playing with paints since I was about 10, so more than 60 years and I'm learning so much now. Oh snap, I bought this book before I found you on youtube. Now I can look at the picture and watch you at the same time. I'm 65 and just started painting I've done the clematis but not very well LOL. Anyway, I love painting even though I'm not good at it. I love being able to just go with the flow like they say. Oh and thank you so much for responding to my comment. It made me feel special. Now on to the tulip!!!!

I like tulips , many bouquets I can find in my garden, but I thought they were boring to paint. The parrot tulips open my eyes to another fun painting I could try. I watch/listen at work so I haven't tried to paint one yet. Tulips are flowers I haven't quite mastered and I'm so looking forward to trying this one out. They're such fun and beautiful flowers! I went to a tulip festival a few years ago and it was my first encounter with these tulips, I never knew there were so many! I am new to watercolor paints. I came across your channel a few months back and thought your work was beautiful, so for my Yule present from my partner, I got watercolor cakes, tubes and pencils. UPDATE: Three! I painted three, painted along with your video, had to give it a try! They turned out mostly nice except the stamens... should have used a thinner brush!

I love Parrot Tulips too. I'm a bird lover and have had quite a few over the years. The enormous Iris garden (over 100 varieties) also had some tulips and Parrot Tulips in there too. It was gorgeous when it was in bloom. I have pictures somewhere. Back when you had actual pictures.
I've painted 0 parrot tulips. I have painted a regular tulip. But I'm going to try my hand at one this weekend.

I have never attempted to make parrot tulips before. Will definitely try to paint one now, this is such a great video, you have included all the small small details that is so useful for a beginner like me.👍🏼🙂

I had a some time before going and working out and thought I would try painting with you. With your instruction, I did a pretty good job of painting a parrot tulip. Not so good with the second one, but the one where you see all 5 pedals, I did a pretty good job. I had trouble with the pool of water, so was glad to hear you talk about that in this video. Very new to watercolor, I love your tutorials because they give me hope that I will find my own creative voice. I painted along to the tulip tutorial and ended up with two decent tulips and some wonky leaves (need work there). Thanks!
