One of my favorite hip hop songs..amazing energy 👏
Me too. Salute.
First time I saw this video was on New York Hot Tracks. And to be honest, I still have my VHS cassette with this on it.
Hiphop at its purest #80s #classic
this video is mislabeled. this is grandmaster melle mel, cowboy, scorpio . not flash and the furious five this was made after they split up.
Cowboy wasn't even in the video, But the song was smoking🎤🔥
@@Gangul. No that's scorpio
@@Gangul. No he wasn't in the video at all. He died in 1989 of a drug overdose. That's not why he's not in the video, the video was made before 1989. he just wasn't in the video
Sugarhill records was the Santa claus of my youth
This was the first record I can remember buying (I was 9)
And the vinyl had a picture of the muscle woman on it 😂
That first verse is still Dope and the first 8 bars of the 2nd .🔥🔥🔥
The first rapper is Melle Mel. What a funky beat! Brings back memories.
It's not them! It's a sample of the DC GO GO band Trouble Funk Pump Me Up
Man remember my older cousins playing this when I was a kid and the chic 💪🏽 flexing haha awesome!
This is exactly what it sounded like to me as a 6yo kid hearing my cousin playing cool sounding rap music !❤🎉
Video was recorded at the Camden Palace club in London.
Amazing ..melle mel best rapper period 💯
Baby Girl in Orange got it going on 😍😘⚘👌💯📸
What?
She actually plays bass and is a friend of mine, She still looks the same almost 40 years later!
before steroids
@@pyrohr the bodybuilder?
@@Lance37a No the female wearing red wearing glasses playing keyboards
Los tiempos cambian, estos temones nunca
sugarhill gang always has sick tribal beats.
trouble funk pump me up
Please add Trouble Funk to this hit. They definitely got their cut pay for this joint. Yes, DC Gogo music came alongside with the Golden Era of Hip Hop!
Very True Real Talk 🔥🎯🔥

That's a GO-GO Band called Trouble Funk, the song is called pump pump me up

@@TyhlerNovacNo it's not, stop lying, this is a sample from " Trouble Funk"

Melle Mel brought me back to this!... Black Gold baby. It's Melle Mel

Hehejehejehehehe
Who's the female bodybuilder in this video
I think its Kelly Everts? A German or Dutch bodybuilder from the early 80s i can remember seeing this women in magazines back then i could be wrong thoe?
@@OoohAaah6603 it's Carolyn Cheshire
@@JazztivalVonrouge yeah your right after I thought about it, Caroline Cheshire I remember her in the first health and strength mags I bought in 81-82 ,thanks for telling me, my memory ain't what it used to be.
Her face has a resemblance to Kim Catrall of the to show ‚sex in the city‘
Melle Mel looked like a young Ron O'Neal back then.
Who are the three people that dislike this?
Who was the drummer on this track?
I think Curtis Blow
It was more than one drummer as a matter of fact they were a group called Trouble Funk. The original song is called pump me up recorded by the go-go band Trouble Funk from Washington DC
@@kareemsupremet.v.5189 Thanks. Appreciate the reply.
TROUBLE FUNK AND BAND FROM WASHINGTON DC FAMOUS FOR THE SONG DROP THE BOMB BACK IN THE 80'S
DC's own TROUBLE FUNK
Is that Bev Francis ??
No, that's not her.
Love it
i thought my eyes was going watching this video
Mans dressed up like He-Man 😂🤣😂
lol Mel... it was the era... Hip-Hop uptown was a reliance to disco so rock had huge influence along with Funk. alto most original hiphop comes from disco tracks
to be honest it reminded me a lot of the look Andre 3000 has from outkast. This defiantly shows that he was a huge influence.
Really early hip-hop was all about the stage show. So everybody from that era was rocking some type of costume.
I laugh every time I see this.. video is fake the music is sampled. This music is DC Go Go band Trouble Funk! Pump me Up Trouble Funk 1981
Pamp up PL WAX 21
Still the shit
If I ruled the world
Kurtis Blow!!!
joe budden
Vera DeMilo😂
I always thought 💭 Melly Mel sounds like Kurtis Blow
Ikr
That was the style back then
More like the other way around
Mele Mel is the originator. Legend since the mid 70s
Up me
Grandmaster Flash had absolutely nothing to do with this and recently outed as a phony. Hopefully the Furious Five will be recognized as the creative geniuses they are.
Diriki Rice ...If it wasn't for Grandmaster Flash there never would have been a Furious 5 ( Djs were fiest, before MCs ) and lets talk about the Message...Melle Mel only wrote one verse ( A child is born ) is he phony...Ms Sylvia took all creativity away from the F5...FACTS
He contributed a lot to the Hip-hop culture do your research...
A phony what??? He's the GOAT hip hop DJ, how can he be a phony???
@@nadegedjangone3913 There is literally a article of the story behind the group from Melle Mel's perspective. Take your own advice and do some research.
@@dirikir.2442 oh okay could you send me the link?
Can't wear that outfit today 😅
joe budden wow
bugged the fuck out. fuckin ill.
It’s amazing how bad this video is. How can a classic rap group fall off so quick. I looked up to this guys at one time. Smh
Im sorry but this is the origin of zest
Nah that would be Little Richard in the 50s
@@williemakeit2346 yeah and also this
@@unitedking4989 this was the evolution of zest - super zest.
@@williemakeit2346 LMAO
Today hip hop is garbage
Because this mumble and hip pop, IS NOT HIP-HOP...
