Love the Matilda coffee mug, coffee and creating my garden is a good start to my day too. I like your point about home started plants being more resilient in the climate they they are to mature in. What a change in the delphinium bed! I am looking forward to your revamp of that area. Take care in this heat.
Yes seems to make a difference if u harden off in your own climate. Yes i find every few years a bed needs an overhaul or bit of a tweak to refresh it. Kinda like needing a new nighttime skin care routine change lol.
I’m watching this on Tuesday 25th. We need rain badly now and it’s 30 here today🥵....ah well, remember it when it’s -30 in January! 🥶. I’m a regular fertilizer, every Friday a scoop of water soluble goes in my watering can and off I go. It makes a huge difference to any annuals in both containers and the ground. Stay cool! Manitoba 🇨🇦
Thanks Peggy very strange weather storms come up and then miss us i hear rolling thunder around us-and we get nothing. I find the plants need the fertilizer to feed them and keep those blooms coming. Fertilize Fridays does work it reminds me to get at it. Cant wait till it cos down a bit so i can catch up on weeding.
I don't have a watering system either than hand watering. It's the annuals that seem to need the water. I think that's why I grow more perennials. We've been in the mid 20's but are expecting the hot temps soon. I've only been using the slow release fertilizer and they've been doing great. Lately I've been working in the garden at night. The owl is cute. Take care in the heat. Bonny
I found your videos while looking up Purple Majesty Millet seed videos. I got 12 seeds from an online seed trade and to my surprise all 12 germinated. I was wondering if you could tell me how many plants you planted per container. I have similar sized containers and I am wondering. Also how large were your millet plants when you transplanted them? I have about 10 weeks before they can go out and I am not sure if I started them in time for this year or not. Thank you so much for answering my questions. Also did you collect seeds from your Coleus and Millets? I started Coleus, Geranium, Petunias from seed for the first time this year and I am excited!
My Millet was about 8 inches high when I potted it up outside. They are really strong plants and can take the wind so I was super happy with them. I should of started a different variety this year but I went hard on purchasing other seeds. I didnt collect millet or coleus seeds this year I will it makes a huge difference and I think their strong seed when you collect their own cause their climatized to your environment. So Millet is gorgeous I love it and glad your growing it. So many different colours now.
@@coldclimategardeningzone3Awesome. Thank you for responding. Is it just one plant in the center of the pot or multiple millet plants together in the center?
@onlywatch99 one plant in centre the leaves take a lot of room so centering makes the biggest statement. Then I put a pile of plants around them on the edge of the pot.
My mom always pinched the flowers off the Coleus plants and I do the same because I saw her doing it. We are melting here in Michigan too, so giving the plants extra water.
Yes what is with this heat wave? I use to always pinch them too now i leave them for the pollinators but with this heat i may have to pinch them again so the energy goes to the leaves with this heat.
