As someone who is interested in engineering, I've always loved transformers. The idea that you can take a car/boat/plane/ect. and turn it into a robot is just so cool to me. Especially when it comes to the triple changers and the six changers. Sure, some of the modes aren't pretty especially on the earlier figures, but just the fact that someone was able to get 6 modes out of one figure will always be impressive to me (even if 1 or 2 of the 6 modes feel like just an "in between" mode that just kinda happened).
I agree. I'm actually quite impressed. The modes actually look better than I anticipated them to be. The guy's not the prettiest transformer out there, but it works. Definitely one of my favorite g1 figures mostly because of the engineering that went into him.
Quick Switch reminds me of the original G1 Broadsides. Granted he was only a small triple changer, but literally an aircraft carrier with two stubby arms and no legs, just a huge hunk of plastic and metal with fold out wings for an absolutely terrible plane mode. I miss ridiculous G1 figures sometimes :P
Quickswitch was Sixshot's "son", burdened with the task of making up for his "father's" mistakes. Though Getaway mistook him for a Decepticon upon first seeing him, Quickswitch displayed his true loyalties by making short work of both Horri-Bull and Snaptrap. old tv add and the Transformers Wiki
I wanna remake that idea for lore purposes. Quickswitch isn't his *biological* son. Sixshot just called him his son since their both six changers and Quickswitch was based off Sixshot. Quickswitch then joins the autobots after seeing how evil his *father* really is.

That is so much derpy G1 chonk in a figure it's adorable.
Though now I kinda understand why they just recolored TR Sixshot instead of trying to make a whole new mold for this guy.
Apparently he's the son of Sixshot... he must be proud.

I can just imagine a group of designers and execs sitting in a meeting room flipping parts on this guy around and saying 'does this look a bit like a hovercraft to you? Great, on to the next mode.'

My opinion on every mode:
Robot: could be worse
Hovercraft: quite decent
Pistol: actually not too shabby
Puma: nice try, but this mode definetly suffers
Drill tank: best alt mode so far (for me anyway)
Jet: better than the puma at least
For me the low two are pistol and puma.
The jet works pretty decently for a g1 multiformer.
Tank I agree is the best.
Puma is horrid but that's at for g1. Hover craft is passable.
The pistol is just the hover craft flipped over.
And the robot mode is wierd but functional.
The pistol would look better if the cockpit wasnt there

Say what you want about Quickswitch, but he knew what really needed armor. That giant Codpiece will surely keep him safe.
I do like how they went with the G1 Headmaster technique of hiding his face by flipping his forehead down.
If the instructions describe that first alt mode as a hovercraft then Hasbro needed to hire proofreaders or copy editors back then because that is a hydrofoil.
This brings up the nightmare that was the multiple modes on one of the Dragon Megatron from Beast Wars. I could see an MP or other knock off company making this into something cool.

Someone should seriously make an MP version of this one, and make him look way better, because there are enough versions of Sixshot, and he needs an Autobot of compatible skills to oppose him.
... AND PUT THE WINGS ON THE BACK OF THE CREATURE MODE, NOT UNDERNEATH!
As of November 21, 2023 I just bought that at HyperToy store in Pensacola and even though the guns are missing. I still love it. I use to have this toy when I was a weeeee boy, and meow at the age of middleage over 40 I can play this awesome G1 figure with my adult son. It's so fum, and a great collectable.
I treasured this figure so much when I was a kid, many fond memories 😊

I don't know what was funnier- "Not the MAMA!" or the skit at the end. Thanks for making people laugh. It's a better time than ever to have a collection of things in one's house you can mess with and not be denied entertainment because of the quarantine. I never got into G1 much, but it's fun seeing these original Transformers.
Great review Emgo, but wow, that "Flying Puma" had me laughing uncontrollably for almost a minute straight.
Love these G1 videos they help keep me sane in this worrying time. And I have a question for everyone what’s your favorite transformers show? Favorite toy too.
G1 Forever, but I also love Beast Wars/Machines, and then the Websodes trilogy was a fun adventure, and Favorite figures, Hot Rod, and Soundwave, and Ol StarScream, but i do like everyone somewhere
CountryMetal01 never seen Beast Machines (know a place to watch it online?) but I can definitely agree with everything else!
That rotating base would make those 3rd party clear plastic transformers look awesome with that purple LED in the center

I remember this figure. I think I picked him up at a garage sale maybe in 1989 or 1990. He really signaled the end of The G1 Transformers for me. I didn't know he had six modes, no matter what I did with him, he just looked helpless. For the most part, G1 had alt modes that kids recognized, and could transform their characters into. Half the fun was completing the alt mode without instructions. There was nothing recognizable about Quickswitch (I didn't even know that was his name until this video)
I find it so cool to see some og G1 figures because it just shows how far we've come from that time period and it's barely been that long in the grand scheme of things so it just makes me wonder what transformer toys will look like in the year 3,000 SIGH. . . I miss Futurama

OMG, i own this toy when i still just a kid, i din't know it was transformers. my favorite mode was the boat mode, i always take it with me when i take a bath. Good times good times
Wow, totally obscure Dinosaurs reference. Never thought I'd here that one again. That being said, seeing the box would have made it more disappointing to see the real figure because, like early console and PC game box art (I'm talking Atari and 386 games), the boxes made it look much more epic that the contents really were, so I think a paper towel tube is perfect for this reveal :D
Holds nostalgia for me since I owned him back in the day. But I'm happy to just stick with my Titans Return version, even though I hate that there's no drill vehicle......

G1 toys to me have a certain charm. They are simple, but fun. Not too much complexity, but the transformation is satisfying, even for some people who didn't grow up in the era.
It's the ultimate Transformer challenge!

Apparently, if this is the same character, Quickswitch is supposed to be Sixshot’s “son” which is why he has different modes other than the pistol and his beast mode is supposed to be a bull or bison or that may be a different iteration of Quickswitch based on this video

I was surprised that another six changer exsisted Emgo, like I forgot there was an autobot called Quickswitch long after watching Chris's Basics on Sixshot, and also given the fact that Hasbro like, abandoned the chance to create Quickswitch from Combiner Wars all the way up to Earthrise I never knew he was an actual character. so yeah, this figure was a huge surprise
It'd look better in Puma mode if the guns were on his puma shoulders. The "jet" mode looks more like an overgrown cousin of Laserbeak who joined the Autobots.

Myself, I've always preferred Quickswitch's blocky almost-something modes to Sixshot's janky kibble-heaps. Refer to them as Brickswitch and Sixblot. :)

Quick Switch aka Six Knight in Japan, was a great toy. He was simple and fun. I prefer the Japanese Masterforce show as Six Knight was great in it. America made Quick Switch, Six Shots son or having multiple personalities in his six modes.

The mode designs were chosen as part of a contest. I can totally see an eight year-old thinking a hovercraft turning into a drill-tank should be a thing.
Not sure which looks worse the fat puma or the robot that looks like he is wearing a Nappy /Diaper. At least the way he stands. Lol

Ah yes, the guy who transformed into five different shaped bricks. It's weird that he never appeared in the show but the repaint Sixknight did and yet this guy is more popular.
The way I always imagined him beating his dad Sixshot was by transforming into hydrofoil mode and going through a narrow cave. Sixshot's jet mode is too wide and all his other modes would sink in the water.

Drill tank-Good.
Jet mode- Alright (Blitzwing`s G1 jet was a flying brick, too! Let's not mention Broadside... ;-) )
Robot Mode- Good considering what they had to work with!
Laser Pistol- Not too bad (Could be better, could be worse)
Hovercraft- Alright (Floating brick, not too difficult to copy, lol)
Space Puma- What the Hell? Even Unicron wouldn't have created that abomination, lol!
Is it just me or does it look like he has a HUGE reverse D.A. Pompadour for his hair? lol!

Considering how much smaller he is than Sixshot, I'd say he's not a bad design; small bot, tall order! The fact his robot mode is the one that suffers the most other than beast mode just exacerbates his flaws because that's how people remember him. Sixshot had dud modes too but since his robot mode looks badass you can ignore the others.
Emgo would you be willing to review RID Megatron/Car Robots Gigatron if you still have it or let Mascot review it? :D

I really wish the fiction would have played up more of the "son of Sixshot" angle. Also I wish TR would have done a new mold so in Japan we could have got Sixknight.

How about reviewing your '84/ '85 Autobot Cars sometime? Especially since you haven't reviewed them yet. You did comparisons with them in your reviews of modern figures of those characters but never actually reviewed them.
