Hello Folks!
So here’s a really simple one for you :) But although these simple butter biscuits use very few simple ingredients…they are still absolutely delicious! Just traditional butter cookies, but you could jazz them up a wee bit by dipping or drizzling with chocolate or adding some chocolate chips to the batter….but try them plain, you might be surprised how moreish they are! One is never usually enough :)

What I used: Makes around 25 biscuits (if your raw dough is split into 20g or 0.7oz balls)
200g or 7oz Plain (all purpose) flour - Sift twice
200g or 7oz Unsalted butter - Soft or at room temperature (not straight from the fridge)
100g or 3.5oz Caster sugar - Just use ordinary white granulated sugar if you don’t have caster sugar.
50g or 1.7oz Ground almonds
1/2 Teaspoon of salt

Well, hello !!! It’s a lovely and bright day out here on the prairie in Colorado. And now, with your posting, my day just got lovelier and brighter. Thank you Cheryl. And who in the world does not like a good butter biscuit? Or here in Colorado ... butter cookies.
Thank you Sunny Colorado from Scotland! 🤗
I find it so refreshing to hear them called biscuits......they look so delicious!
I'm Canadian, we call it cookie, but my mom is European, they call cookies as biscuit too 😅
@@impb6606 I'm Australian. Here if it crunches it's a biscuit. if it's soft, the kids call them cookies (thanks to TV etc)

Sadly Cheryl that batch wouldnt last 2 minutes in my flat 😋😋 Sadly I watch your presentations and would ❤️ to many of them. As a mature batchelor with a bachelor's kitchen
I really dont have cupboards and counter top space to prepare big meals. Thank goodness for airfryers and Ninjas 😎 Cheers
I'm travelling so I almost missed this! Those do look like a wonderful sort of shortbread.
Very similar! :) Hope you're enjoying your travels x
These look yummy, I'm going to try them. I appreciate you giving the ingredient amounts in ounces as well as grams, saves me time and frustration, trying to calculate the amounts. Thank you, from a new subscriber.
I love butter cookies. Isn't it interesting twice baked biscuits, a savory flat hard tack item, became a sweetened cookie form for the English and a soft bread form for the Americans
It looks delicious!
So I've saved the receipt and I'm definitely going to try this one.
Thank you so much for sharing!❤
Saying "hallo" from the Netherlands 🤗🇳🇱

Hello Cheryl so easy even I can make them,,I do love a delicious cookie with my cup of tea.
Great recipe , take me way back , my mother used to bake a similar biscuit called Vanilla Nut Biscuits with Blue Band Margarine , which now I would never use , has to be butter for me , hate all those additives , thanks for the recipe definitely. sound easy , might just try a melon baller instead of the rolling in your hands , I'm useless at that !! 😊❤😊❤
Hi Cheryl How are you this very humid day and hot love watching you all the time that you are on Love this recipe so much thank you 🙏🏻 for sharing it with us all Cathy from America 🇺🇸 🇺🇸🇺🇸🙏🏻✝️☮️

They look wonderful!
I have had lots of fun playing with your recipes and things turn out great!!! Im not familiar with your mushy peas and was wondering if you would mind showing how thats done.thanks for your videos, i enjoy !!! Have a great day
Hiya! My mushy peas come from a can 😄 I've never actually tried to make my own...I imagine they're quite easy though!
@@WhatsForTea well isn't that interesting.... so they are like refried beans... you just mush the original and heat them up? Or buy them in a can lol
Yummy remind me of my grandad
Oh yummy. Thanks Cheryl ❤
These look yummy Cheryl 😋, I definitely will give these a try. I baked a few batches of soft amaretti biscuits for Xmas gifts, they were delicious but much more of a faff to make, so hopefully will get to enjoy a similar flavour with much less work! Thans as always for sharing 🙏 & take care. xx 👩🏻🍳💕💞💖
Sounds great! Thanks David :) x
So many recipes call for unsalted butter, then tell you to add salt. Depending on the recipe I just use salted butter and don't add salt. Looks good, it is one for my to try list... after the planned butter tarts.
These biscuits are just wonderful. And positively addictive. And divine to make as a gift.... Thanks for this recipe
Wow, the recipe is almost like shortbread, with the addition of almond flour. I'll try a batch soon!
A video on tea? Varieties of tea, proper preparation of tea. Favorite brands that may also be purchased here in the U.S., and other places. Coffee is fine but there will always be a time for a fine cup of tea.
@TubbsFarquharnothing worse than stewed tea 😱
@@douglasthompson296or water microwaved to make tea. Quite a few Americans do it that way. As a Scot living in the US I just refuse to drink tea made that way. So disgusting. 🏴🇺🇸
❤❤❤amazing
@TubbsFarquharh
Hh@TubbsFarquhar
Do the other ingredients need altering if I wish to leave out the almonds? They look lovely
No, I wouldn't change anything :) x
I didn't have any Almonds yesterday when I tried this recipe so I used 1/2tsp of both Almond Extract & Vanilla Extract & 250G plain flour they came out perfect, I've now got the Almonds today so I'm going to whip up another batch with the proper ingredients.
❤Excellent I will definitely try this thanks
Enjoy :)
Awesome! I'm gonna try it 😊
can we also have Scottish authentic shortbread recipe, please? Thanks😊
I already have a few shortbread recipes on the channel :)
Thanks for the recipe could I use plant based butter ? 😊
Oh I've no idea Kimberley....I would imagine so ☺ x
Wow! Where did you get that fab baking sheet with the markers on….❤️ it….
Hubby will love these and the grandchildren….🏴👍🏴
Hiya! I got them on Amazon :) they come in a set of 3 (different sizes)
Looking fwd to making these. Capetown, South Africa, crispy cold at present. Lovely weather to bake😊. Will the texture change completely if I skip the nuts?
i'll put the kettle on...
😄☕
Thanks,Lovey.
Wow lovely
Love your recipes Cheryl. Do you have a recipe for steak and ham roll?
Could I add some almond extract too?
Absolutely! :)
@@WhatsForTea About 1 tsp?
@@sean.furlong1989 I would go with 1 tsp :) You don't want too much, because it's quite a strong flavour x
@@WhatsForTea Thank you.
This is like fork biscuits but with the almond
Fork biscuits are traditionally something easy to remember like 6oz flour 4oz butter 2oz sugar made just the same and pressed with a fork you can use any flour or flavour, ground almonds sounds delicious
A bit like shortbreads no ? Thanks Cheryl !
Mine came out totally flat 😢 no idea what I’ve done wrong? I guess I need to wait and see how they taste when they are cool but I will need to make another batch now, as I’m a perfectionist & my baking never fails x
Cheryl you have a Tesco on isle of Arran?
No eggs added ?
Not needed x
I’m using an iPhone and in the box below the video is supposed to be the recipe. 😢. Not finding them
