I John Brown have to thank you bro, I just finished changing the screen on the Rocker arm controller and all my problems went away, all the codes ext. You were a great part of this resolve total repair $9.89
Thank you so much. I got the whole assembly just in case. I don't want to have to come back and change anything else later. God bless you sir for your great video.
I’m in my second VTEC oil solenoid in 4 months. Both done by mechanics. I’m going to check the code at auto zone and try these parts myself. 2004 element.
I had this same code. Ended up being that the plug connectors between the harness and the oil pressure switch were corroded. I sprayed CRC 5103 Quick Dry Electronic Cleaner on both the connector (female) and oil pressure switch (male) connectors and then gently but firmly inserted/removed the connection to scrape off the corrosion. I did this 3-4 times, then wiped any residue, sprayed and went again. It didn't take that much time. I tried using a few tools to clean the male/female connections but inserting/removing the connectors ended up being the easiest. At some point in the past, the harness connector's locking tab was broken off, so I think this was allowing water/moisture to get into the connection.
THIS!!! The car kept getting thrown into limp mode over 3k rmp. The code we got was actually 2646 (Rocker Arm Oil Pressure Switch Circuit → Low Voltage). Did this in a pinch as thre plug was clearly corroded. Been problem free for a couple weeks now. For reference, vtech solenoid gasket already was replaced and very routine oil changes. Very appreciative for your suggestion!
This code just appeared on my 07 Accord. I haven't had any acceleration issues, but rather my idle has been a bit rougher than usual, and it did act like it was misfiring and bucking when coming to a stop once, with a flashing check engine light. Going to change the spark plugs, then try this as well. I just ordered the entire vtec solenoid assembly. Hopefully it fixes the issue!
I would suggest cleaning out the whole solenoid once out the car with some carb cleaner. Replaced mine completely with a Honda official part including the switch about 5 months ago and today engine light is back with same error.... grrrr
Man i need some help. My VTEC solenoid was leaking oil bad, finally got around to replacing it. Took it out for a ride and now I'm having the same bumping issue at 3000 rpms, any ideas what it could be? Brand new solenoid/valve assembly. I've looked around everywhere trying to find info, but all I get is "replace the valve". Over the last month I've spent probably 50 hours replacing parts all over my car, mostly suspension, was so ready to have all the new parts put on and now I'm stuck with this
@@bruceyyyyy i don't think it could be the screen(behind the PS pump) because i never got the code before with the old one, i only change it because it was leaking. I should've just change the gasket in it and kept the old solenoid. But unfortunately I threw it away once I had the new one in. That's what makes me think it could be something with the wires but i don't know how to test them or figure out what it truly is
I'm having the same issue with my honda element sc 08..I have replaced this. altogether. have done a new oil change continue with it. i wonder what else could it be
I have a 2004 Honda Element I also changed the sparkplug, all the coils this with the Vtec filter only and it cleard up my problem, if no also check another filter on the front of the engine the oil pressure sensor. Also clogs up
I have same problem, but i replaced the whole solenoid and its still throwing the same code. I delete it and it comes right back on. Connections are tight and oil is fresh and i cleaned the oil screen on front of block, what do i do?
@@omnienmiti 90% of the time there's a P2646/7 it's a plug problem. The stuff is almost 20yrs old and seals shrink, it gets wet and shorts, or open circuits. Changing the plug and 4" of wire is wise before attacking more expensive swaps.
Newbie question: Why replace just the gasket and sensor? Wouldn't it have cost about the same to just replace the whole assembly since it would come with both included? I have the same code on my 2003 and was going to do the same repair.
Have you replaced your motor mounts since then? I've had this problem for a while combined with bad motor mounts and just recently discovered that one of the bad motor mounts has broken my transmission case, I think as a result of the bucking
This helped! I'm gonna try to fix it and see if that's the solution. It all started with an oil change... I'm wondering if the dude that did my oil change messed up with something. My oil filter might just be dirty? Idk... I'm just learning...
Try some removal style sockets. I have something similar to this: amzn.to/3tVaN0U I got it locally for about the same price. I've never had it not work on a rounded bolt. The only bad thing is it will ruin the bolt getting it out but you probably should be replacing it anyway. (:

Be sure it's OEM and the screen is being replaced as well.
The mechanics must’ve put a after market piece in there. Make sure the part is from the dealer. A OEM part.

Is the sensor OEM? A lot of the times they're picky about non oem ones.
Do you know if this same pet would work on a Acura rsx motor I want to say it would since I believe it’s the same motor
If it's the same motor the part should work. Getting to it in the engine bay might be a bit different but probably also very similar.

90% of the time the electrical plug is the problem.

Oil definitely plays a part in this issue. If it's ran too low or too long it seems more sensitive until the screen is replaced or cleaned.
Could be that its not a Honda oil filter
Super helpful.
Great video!
Not a cam sensor.
Gonna try this myself on a 04 v6 accord 6-speed. It’s so boring to drive it under 3k!
I'm not sure if the V6 is different or not but please let me know if it works!

@@bruceyyyyy I’ll have to try a little bit of heat to the bolt and hopefully it will turn thank you for the reply
Let me know how it goes! I typically wouldn't recommend heat on a sensor but if you're replacing it anyway it should be ok.

Changed oil cleaned all screens out changed oil actuator and oil pressure switch hell the whole vaulve still bucks but I used an ebay part
Is the Ebay part OEM?
