If the secondary symbols are last names, it makes sense that it would be printed on a medical record for Yellow Guy. And as for the question "why would Red go by his last name", I think it's pretty simple. From everything we've seen Red comes from a collectivist culture that doesn't really value individuality and uniqueness. Collectivist cultures in the real world (like China or Japan) put the family name first and often refer to each other by family name only unless with close friends. So it would make sense to me that Red goes by his last name while the other two go by their first names.

Also, I don't know about China, but suggesting Japan doesn't value uniqueness is odd considering the video games and the manga and the anime.
But then again, Japanese RPGs are typically an RPG with an already established character, right? Pokémon was like that for the longest time other than the name. I don't really mind that. It's different from playing a non-RPG with a set plot other than the RPG elements. Are there old JRPGs with a lot of character customization?

The moment Red Guy presses the "enter" we can also see or assume that when all the keys were hitten by Red Guy Duck could have used the mouse to click the button on the screen. I have some notes that may or may not be useful:
    1. I think it's erroneous to assume that the symbols on the keyboard are the same ones used to construct the symbols on the book. Yellow's name takes a long time to input and reads as a string of characters disguised by asterisks, like a password input in an English-language interface. Duck's name is just one symbol, and it may have a unicode-type input. Moreover, when the characters see the book, none of them claim to recognize their own names. If you saw a mysterious object with your full name on it, wouldn't you make note of that? Finally, we know how the characters write--they used (poorly-spelled) English in other scenes, such as the recipe for shepherd's pie from the "Big Day" montage. Yellow's name is likely input into Colin's interface via a different language.
    2. The symbol you assume is Yellow's name sort of looks like a battery with a cable coming out of it. This definitely pertains to him, but may not be his name. The "circle with legs" is more likely to be his name because the other symbols resemble stylized depictions of the other characters' faces, and this other symbol sort of looks like a round head coming off of a pair of shoulders. One of these is his name; if it's the "battery" symbol, then the other one may simply mean something pertaining to thought or memory.
    3. If each symbol is paired laterally with some relevant item or concept (that is, Yellow with either the batteries that power him or the importance of memory), then the other symbols probably represent something specific as well. Duck may be paired with his clipboard, which stands for information, order, and/or structure, as he likes consistency and keeping track of things. Red's may represent control or freedom, the things he pursues. If that's the case, each symbol represents what every character wants: Yellow wants to learn and regain his memories, Duck wants to maintain or regain order, and Red wants freedom from his existence.
    4. This one is more meta: DHMIS is a satirical take on children's media. It feeds the characters nonsense songs and junk misinformation, and we can see that being trapped in this colorful felt world has left them woefully unprepared for life; they can't even figure out "opposite of down, 2 letters" in a crossword, they don't know how death works, etc. So perhaps these symbols are meant to be incomprehensible: we see them and can't make sense of them yet, like a child who hasn't learned to read. We can begin to parse out important clues, but I don't think we have enough to form a complete picture just yet, and this is by design because the teachers aren't doing a good enough job.

I agree with this immensely, the way they describe and explain the concepts to understand something like this also contradicts the things they're saying, since multiple parts of the “names” are wrong in their assets. The “dots” and “circles” they are describing on Red Guy's name are wrong and/or mixed up. Like the circle on middle left ACTUALLY being a dot and the two dots on bottom right and left as well as middle right being filled in squares and not dots like they're claiming. The eye on Duck's name is also clearly a teardrop, not a dot, same with the H-like thing that should be connected to Yellow Guy's name. I personally think after seeing this video that they're just grasping at straws that probably don't even exist or are unfinished at this time.

12:59 here, you mention a hyphen or removing specific parts of the glyph to mean different things. The hyphen going directly through the upside down triangle is often seen as an elemental symbol for ‘Earth’
When yellow guy says “remember the hyphen” if red guy weren’t to type it then the upside down triangle would mean ‘Water’
Also on the yellow guys symbol the rectangle with two dots could be symbolic to him having batteries. Two dots, two batteries might mean something.

Now here’s a theory that’s a little out there and really just simplifies everything, but it’s interesting because of how meta it is:
What if the characters were character traits I.e. lessons learned?
In keeping with my previous comments on Rem’s vids (which you should go back and look at) I think Duck is the only one who’s being replaced every “episode”. I mean, we know he’s “faulty” seeing as his figurine breaks easily and his heart falls out of his body out of nowhere.
So for Duck’s name to be literally one character long is more of a meta in-joke that he’s just a one-dimensional character!
Conversely (and keeping with my prev. theories), Yellow guy is the focal point of the show. He’s the one who the teachers are supposed to be teaching!
Yellow Guy has been around for all the lessons so he has more character built, hence it takes more characters to spell his name.
And if you want to force this theory to keep to Rem’s hieroglyphic ideographic theory, it’s possible that this language is not able to be programmed into a computer, so duck’s name is a programmed hotkey and Yellow Guy’s name would have to be spelled out the way the ideogram is read.
For example, if Duck Guy’s ideogram means “The one over here who talks like this and has a beak”, that will never change and so you can just make a hotkey shortcut for it.
But then Yellow Guy’s name would be something like, “the yellow pig who is Roy’s dad and learned about Creativity, Time, Healthy foods, love, dreams, security (?), jobs, death, family…etc.”
So it’s possible that Yellow Guy’s name is always adding characters literally and figuratively.
So basically, Yellow Guy’s name is actually an ingenious password, but with the bad batteries he just can’t remember every life experience.

    • @dybcreations
      @dybcreations Год назад +13

As for the book, what if it’s like literally the “Show Bible”?
Being another Meta in-joke, every show on tv requires a “Bible” that outlines the show from start to end to be picked up. So the symbols could actually describe the three characters and their archetypes, I.e. Duck is the grumpy one-dimensional one who doesn’t like learning lessons, Red Guy is the down-to-earth one who makes sure things stay on track, and Yellow Guy is the one who’s supposed to actually learn the lessons and grow as a person from episode 1 to the final episode. Unfortunately, the bad batteries keep him from doing so and that’s probably because Lesley interfered because she wants the characters in a limbo state for herself, but that’s another theory for another time.
Anyways, it being the “Show Bible” really fits, too because that’s why Yellow guy would’ve had it before and that’s why it has symbols of everything that’s happened before!

  • @maddie8829
    @maddie8829 Год назад +316

I'm a beliver in the whole thing being about Lesley and the people she knows from her life/ a coping mechanism for her loss.
in DHMIS#2 "Time", there is a portrait of Duck looking like he's in a military outfit. Then in Episode #2 "Death", Yellow Guy remembers Duck telling him all about the military. Perhaps Duck is meant to be a representation of someone in Yellow Guy's life who died during a war. A grandfather maybe? He talks a bit old-timey. Maybe he's "dead" because he literally died in the war in real life. Him calling himself "the dad" in the family episode could actually be true- this being because he'd be Lesley's dad (the one who is running it all- thus her POV).
And if Duck and Yellow Guy are based off real people in Lesley's life, then perhaps Roy is how she sees her 'ex husband', a no good, porn watching creep. He's represented as having money and business intention (the product placements he owned that's branded with his name). This would contradict someone who is stupid since you'd assume they'd have to be somewhat smart to do that. Maybe he did something to David that made her really hate him? Or he could have been abusive to her? Yellow guy calling himself a 'pig' could be a quote for something someone yelled at him about.
Red Guy, Im not 100% sure. He has a keen interest in being an Uncle in the Family Episode. Maybe he was a workaholic type uncle (as office jobs and work seem to be a key theme for him in both series - yet he's someone who declares several times he hates the idea of doing things/working). But maybe when Roy does something, he steps in to help the family and look after David and her? That could be why he's seen as more level headed, caring character who looks to be trying their best to guide David (like helping him escape in the car etc).
Just an additional thing too: the Twins were in the David cut scene during Episode 5- shown during the marketplace. The start of the Family episode, the twins are wearing sweaters. By the end of the episode, these are removed and you can see they have black and white stripped shirts. These shirts and their hair match the two blonde children in the market with their mum. So it's just more emphasis that everyone is someone that she knew from the real world.

@@0b13F4st3 Yeah for sure. There are a lot of things I think could fit. I also had more ideas I thought of but didn't include since my comment was already so long. If interested, my less sure theory was that the family from the Family episode could maybe be Roy's side of the family, hence why she thinks they're all major creepy freaks. This would also explain why Roy shows up at the end, opens the door and waltzes in as if he's familiar with the house/people and knows he's welcome there. He then proceeds to eat the family meal with the family (or eat them/depending on your interpretation). There is also a few references to "cousins" whilst the twins play the board game with Yellow Guy etc, which could be true. They could be cousins if they're children of say Roy's brother. Another thought too could be that Lesley was more fond of the twins than the rest of their family, hence why the twins are "normalish" looking and show up in the David cut scene ep 5, but the others are all greyed out/creepy/disturbing. Roys side could have maybe tried to enforce their 'traditional' ideas of family on Lesley, who wanted to raise David her own way.

my personal theory is that in the original RUclips series Roy was in control, evident based on multiple things that show up throughout it. that's why in that series the characters act stiff, talk slower, and overall act more like a character rather than a distinct person. in this series Leslie seems to be in control basically taking over where Roy left off but she does it differently mainly by making them forget about previous "lessons" and having them act more like actors off the clock, it would explain the multiple instances of them acting as if they don't know the other that well.
a great example would be red guy at the funeral sayin "I don't know you, I know of you. I know which one you are." like he knows him professionally, not personally. and hopping back on the "Leslie SEEMS to be in control" thought, I don't think she actually is. I think Leslie is just a figurehead who acts like the one in control to dissuade yellow guy from going further up to find out the real truth as evident by the stairs hidden in the corner that we catch a glimpse of as yellow guy is returning back to the room he climbed up from. that's why the doll house we see Leslie messing with doesn't actually effect everything else when she changes something.
its a model designed to trick you into thinking she is in control with "clues" hidden everywhere that point back to her but no further to dissuade anyone from actually digging further beyond the "clues" to find out who is actually further up those hidden flight of stairs. there are other actual clues that point to something even further beyond Leslie, the dump that the main 3 end up in shows that there's a whole other world outside of that house.
a world that Leslie hasn't been shown in. a world where Leslie cant fake control. there's something controlling everything behind the scenes and I'm talking much further than Leslie. if it really ended at Leslie then the show would already be over and there wouldn't have been that glimpse of a tucked away staircase that teased something much further than where yellow guy ended up.
I'm sure Leslie has influence over the world and show (most likely the one who controls and choses the teachers) but she cant control the trios actions or reactions to things. she cant control the events that play out due to the teachers or any other random occurrence that may happen. she can only probably pick and place the teachers. she may have insider knowledge of what happens or how things ended up but she cant do anything to remedy or fix the outcome. she can only observe as someone else sets everything back to 0 so she can start the next lesson. there's something much deeper just waiting to be found and I for one cant wait

Some of them would need to be rotated, which is why it shows red guy hitting the arrows. There are two dots in yellow guys glyph, and half of a circle on top of them. Which turns it into a smiley face. And with some readjusting- a frowny face. Just as it shows on the keyboard.

I personally dont think there is too much to it, the symbols are not super complicated symbols but instead are stylistic symbols that represent the individual episodes in the series, the top left being a briefcase the middle right being twins and the bottom right being a thunderbolt. Not sure of the others.
I also think that much like the youtube series, where red slowly uncovers they are in a scripted programme and his life unravels. I think this season is yellow guy starting to do the same, when he is handed the book, he is infact being handed a literal book version of the events that happens that season, its the script.
Lesley is credited as the script Editor of Grolton and Hovris. I think that is who she is here too, she edits the script.

  • @RNidk9

A theory that might change this is that the order of the episodes is not what is seems, now with many people theories of the stairs the last room is the producers of the show up above… which mean they make the ending credits of it, in the credits of episode 2 there is duck singing. And in the order of people he shakes hands with, it is businessman (skip episode 2 cause we’re watching it) then family man then choo Choo man then friendly fellow then electric man, meaning episode 5 is before 4. And if the producers made this it must be true… idk maybe I’m just overthinking.
And also mirrors and reflections allow travel between the different houses throughout the series, as you see in episode 5 yellow guy looks into the reflection and sees smart him, but what most ppl don’t talk about is when smart yellow guy looks into a mirror and sees dumb yellow guy in episode 6, almost as if they can see each other… or can they?!

Good question! I haven’t quite yet fully analyzed the time child sequence, so I’m not quite sure so far, but I don’t think that Duck’s song meant to much, as the episodes are not meant to be linear. The show is more meant to be similar to the Twilight Zone in that each episode is it’s own thing, but the main plot points and overarching themes are the same, hence the dollhouses and different dolls. I’m not quite sure about the time child quite yet though

While the lines here seem the same length and the ones drawn in chemistry class are not, it still reminds me of that - perhaps that symbol means “to charge” or “charged”, so to fulfil the story, Yellow Guy must be (fully) charged?

There is one thing about Yellow Guy (David's) name that nobody seems to have caught: his name is an electronic diagram of a battery connected to ground. The rectangle with two dots is a battery - Yellow is powered by batteries, and becomes smart with fresh batteries. The triangle symbol is the symbol for 'ground' in electronics. The two are connected, essentially by a wire. Thus, a battery, grounded.

a few notes on things ive noticed:
red guys symbol: half filled dots and half empty dots, connected by squiggles or something. symetrucal almost like yin yang? also, hes put under the "wavy" symbol, like hes drowning as the identity card mentions. also looks like a molecule or the electric grapes? the "wave" symbol also looks like a camel with a sun over it but i could be tripping
yellow guys: his "first name" symbol contains alchemical reference to 'earth', and his other symbol's circle is the alchemical symbol for the sun or gold. both are yellow? the wiggles under the sun might represent shining a light, or that hes powered by electricity (sine waves and whatnot) the circle over waves symbol also looks like a virus, like too much like a virus. ive seen the "suitcase" part of his first name be argued to be a reference to the job episode or maybe batteries? also, this symbol: 王 in chinese means king, and its often associated with yellow guy too in a few of his symbols. probably coincidence?
as for ducks symbol, ive always seen it as like a tank or something. the square could be in reference of his little red pocket thing? im at a loss. his second symbol resembles a road to me, but the two 2's inverted on themselves could be a reference to the ars goetia or maybe another alchemical thing? also looks an aweful lot like the rod of Asclepius? often associated with medicine and healing. also, an exerpt from sefer raziel hamalakh has many symbols resembling the dots and lines. idk. this has been keeping me up lmao

      heres some more schizoid bs:
this is absolutely a coicidence but ducks name looks like an o/z in hylian (yeah lmao) and some lines look like celestial writing? i know nothing can be garnered from this information but 🤸🤸

I have a little theory and don't want this to be perceived as me saying "This is wrong" to the vid, just something to consider:
Could the symbols relate to the timeline of events/the order the episodes are meant to be viewed in?
    1. The briefcase from "Jobs", the symbol of the box with 2 dots and a handle. (I think this looks way too much like the briefcase to ignore)
    2. The computer, the circle on what looks like a stand, which is what Computery Guy gives them at the end of "Friendship". Also explains why it appears on the printed out piece of paper.
    3. Duck's "Death", since we know that character relates to him and he is centric to the episode, with even 2 of him appearing.
    4. This one is the least sturdy but I think it's "Family", 2 parallel lines with a symmetrical 2 written on them to represent the twins.
    5. Then it's "Electricity" one way it looks like an electric bolt, rotate it 90 degrees and you have the handle for the music box/house rotating system Lesley uses,
    6. And that leaves "Transport", symbolised by Red Guy running away.
I'm not 100% sold on it but I don't think it's the worst conclusion to come to

  • @BenSalernoMedia

I think the ideogram theory has a lot of potential (Yellow Guy basically comes right out and says that's what it is in ep6), but beyond David's symbol(s), the assumptions and guesses at what the remaining symbols mean are flimsy and unsubstantiated, but you hold on to a lot of them anyway. In a previous video you basically made the case that Yellow Guy's symbol was the series of glyphs that looks like "HOES" turned sideways, but then immediately said "so now we can confidently say his symbol is [a totally different glyph]" and then you just plowed on ahead with that being a bygone conclusion for no reason at all, just calling the OE glyph "related" while arbitrarily discarding the H and S.
This whole thing reminds me of those Ancient Aliens kooks starting from a faulty premise and just going further and further with it. I think you need a fresh start. Discard the assumption that those glyphs are just to represent the characters, stay open to the idea that they are concepts related to their environment, the process of resetting, ascension, teachers, the council, etc., and see if you really can't find your way to them being anything else before using it as the support beam for everything else. The "David" Glyph is solid enough. Nothing else is.

crazy how the first season of dhmis revealed the most about red guy’s back story and this new season revealed yellow guy’s so will the next season reveal duck’s?🤔 i feel like theyre all dead idk how to explain it but theyre forced to lived together and the way yellow guy died was revealed, maybe red guy was depressed with work and was unable to make his dreams come true (about his show) and sold his soul to get his show or sum idk about him but a lot of duck’s parts have to do with the military like him telling yellow guy about it, him in the plane at his funeral (maybe military related), and he sang about the military during the job episode, theres prob more

This is super cool! I was wondering if the "briefcase" in yellow guy's name is supposed to be electracy's body holding two batteries... And if yellow guy's name is also supposed to evoke the way symbols are used in circuit diagrams? That may be a stretch though lol

In the original RUclips series the last episode shows the inner workings of a powerful being controlling the strings behind the scenes revealed as "Roy" (yellow guy's father) only for him to be another character that randomly shows up, but the TV series at the last episode the big reveal that Lesley is the one behind everything and controlling the strings, as she gives yellow guy the book he asks "did I...?" as he noticed the symbols he drew on the paper at the table, the glimpse of more stairs shows that Lesley might not be the one in control but as the one who maintains the house keeping everything flowing and rewinding everyday
I'm not gonna make any assumptions since I personally don't like to deep dive into shows but this had me in a stupor for a week to think about

i think the yellow guy's symbol is him destroying the book in the shredder. Above is the head, and it connects with a body and arm that holds something triangular (the book) and seems to be putting it into something (the shredder).

What if Yellow guy (David - D on the dungarees) is in hospital after the car accident. He’s hooked up to machines (running on electricity) and when he gets shocked with the paddles (given new batteries) he remembers the accident (explaining the flashbacks when the fresh batteries are inserted). He’s brought his friend and teachers in to his unconscious/coma mind as a coping/healing mechanism, and now they live in an actuAL NIGHTMARE!

I just want to note a theory I have about red guy
While Duck and yellow don't really want to leave (even when yellow was smart he didn't want to leave) Red desperately wants to escape in an episode, and wants to casually escape with death in another. What if Red Guy is something different from the others, something captured by Lesley. He is more human looking after all, and much angrier than anyone we see, except for Lesley.

I recognize a few alchemical/metallurgy symbols in the glyphs- earth, sun, mars, and duck's entire name just kinda looks like the symbol for magnesium. I don't think it holds water, but that's all the connections i can draw.
