- sorry for the videos poorer quality than usual.(saying it like my normal videos have any resemblance of quality) reason being I've been having some issues that I hesitate to call art block as its more that I keep dropping things halfway through because they aren't good enough. so i needed to get something out to get me out of the hole i was it. now that this is posted i feel alot lighter and hopefully will stay out of the hole for a bit longer now.

Like he says, you would need to have a way to get it into the bloodstream, so either having a bard like mage who plays an instrument which is plugged into them could be super cool, but if they're playing they may struggle to cast spells without losing concentration. On the other hand, this principle could make a really amazing in-world reason for battle music. Besides raising the morale of troops, having musicians playing droning repeating melodies to actively increase the concentration of mana in the area around mages would be such a neat concept.
I would imagine “bards” or people who use instruments in magic would be kinetic or perhaps some other form of magic, so the music not only draws in magic, but the sound waves are spells themselves.

Honestly, once you've made your book and it's on shelves I wouldn't be apposed to you doing an Audiobook version of it. So I can not only read it but also listen to you also speaking it. Love this worldbuilding project, hope it actually get's fully realized and that you don't give up on it half way through finishing it.
He has a pretty nice voice to be honest, so I'd buy that sh*t, indeed.

Having mana flow from an imprisoned "god" is one of my favorite concepts
it reminds me of how Path of Exile does its "magic." The gems, used by socketed in either flesh or armor, come from The Beast which is a massive creature created by Sin to contain the other gods.
The PoE lore is actually very cool and unique and I love that Monstergarden has just as many unique ideas
The fractal thing is cool because that means that the brain could attract manna because of it's shape? You should delv into the brain a bit more with magic
He said, that if something naturally have fractal shape and attract mana, doesn't necessarily means, that it's magical. But, maybe, it could mean, that brain is pliable to magical influence, or a mage can see your thoughts and feelings by perceiving mana
Do mana attracted shapes need to be exposed/ uncovered to attract mana? So maybe the brain would have to be exposed. After all it's covered by the skull, flesh and muscle etc.

Imagine a creature evolved or modified to be able to absorb mana without traditional implants, but always at risk of blood hemorrhage since to bring mana in, they have to open a direct path from the brain to the bloodstream. Kinda like trying to play a wind instrument but air is also blowing towards the mouthpiece.
The "unfolded" head is so fucking gnarly, I love it.

If you're into cool World Building projects, you might wanna check out the "Wild Imaginary West" series by Boylei Hobby Time - he's been building a weird fantasy/sci-fi-Wild-West-world for a few years now, and by building I do mean building. He tells his stories through intricate Dioramas and Models :3

I love magic systems with a tangible logic to them! I feel like I would be able to understand what type of magic a mage uses bases solely on the descriptions you just layed out. Really fantastic work as always!!!
those types of magic systems are called "hard magic systems" if you would like to read more like this one, i would recommend reading a book with one, actually ill just recommend Mistborn since i really like it and everything has an explanation that you may not realise when you first see something but understand from the clues or the explanation later. also its just a good read in general

@@salt8888 Isn't "hard magic" the kind of magic where you have limited spells like "fireball" and a mage can't do whathever with their magic ? Monstergarden's system seems to be quite polyvalent with mages being able to do whathever they want
@@robertspeedwagon982 Not exactly. Hard Magic tries more to give the magic a logic or system that it follows. U could see it like a extra natural law that exists.. it has its own systems, calculation and boundaries.
The concept of repeating patterns attracting mana would be a fascinating concept for a parallel to Bards... layered songs, with elements intended to attract the mana and layers intended to act as foci. Perhaps the mana would be collected into the blood as with normal mages, or perhaps a weaker form of magic would directly apply the mana into the "focus" elements of the song.
Addendum: I see no reason this couldn't also be applied to other forms of art, as weak magic imbued into everyday creations like paintings, pottery, or even armor.

The idea that to use magic requires sacrifice and identity-altering changes to the body makes me wonder about how magic users differ from the general population where only certain types of people become magic users. This could be very interesting when it comes to the social and political status of the caste of magic users.
Love how the exploded heads of the mages kinda still have a resemblance to wide-brimmed wizard hats!

You should have all the ideas on a wheel and then spin the wheel at the beginning of stream, obviously add other ideas to it along the way, and you can do whatever else you want to do as well. But if you need a tiebreaker/ idea picker try a wheel

I love how these vids tie and weave into each other lore wise. The two warring countries who fight over their philosophies (Verus and Ram) are directly tied to Yhorm and his imprisonment (I don't know if it is confirmed to be the same pillars but if so). That is so cool and intriguing for worldbuilding. When either society or if they reach their goal will they be able to bring change upon the land by freeing or interacting with Yhorm? (How will Ram react to Yhorm's figure or how will Verus react to the mechanism or discovery at the top of the pillars? Can Verus free Yhorm from one of his shackles? Can Ram profit off of Yhorm's blood mana wise. So many cool potential stories that build off of this and it all feels believable context wise.

Love your universe and art. Especially the magic system. It just feels beautifully thought out and makes mages REALLY interesting, but I can't help but wonder if casting a spell without the mana entering the mage would be possible? Because in the end, the two functions, a mage has are:
1. Transporting the mana through the body and
2. Giving the spell the intended properties. But, the shape of the output can also affect the spells shape. It would be interesting to see magical trinkets, that can cast basic spells just by their shape. An artificer might inject his own blood into his creations to serve as the mana transportation medium and be able to create basic household appliances for nobles like a hair dryer. Would love to see something like this
The fractal forming within that Dude's veins around his mana input is so interesting to me.
I thought that usage of magic would distort the user's body in more... chaotic ways, such as stretching the body like you mentioned in the original magic video, or the opening of the skull in that guy's case.
Either mana influences the body in to take geometrical patterns, or my leading theory, that some of the guy's veins were following the fractal pattern when they naturally bulged out due to high mana traffic, since mana follows patterns.
Having mana be connected to patterns is such an interesting thing to do with it, it allows for designs to be both useful and visually distinct, I love it !
I like the idea that magic's concept of 'order' is completely different from our own. What may look like chaotic stretching of limbs or opening skulls to us might be some more optimal way of attuning to mana

"The understanding comes after the mastery" makes so little sense but enough that It would work perfectly with magic.
I wonder what would happen if you mixed and matched different spells with different outputs. Could a healer use a lens to focus all of their magic into one spot on the body to cause cancerous growths on a victim? Would a city of mages (perhaps funded and ruled by the church) be built like a dystopian suburb so that the rows and rows of the same building would attract more mana? Could you use a separate person as an input for mana to function as a battery without the downsides of storing all that mana in your own blood? Could a blacksmith mage tie his various inputs and outputs to the anvil and hanmer he works with to melt metal without a forge?

I like how the use of mana physically alters humans. In typical phantasy mages are shown as physically weak or bad in close combat with no good reason, but here it makes sense.

this is one of the better Hard magic systems ive seen, it gives me a vibe not dissimilar to Sanderson's Mistborn magic. though there its a innate talent, not augmentation and I love that augmentation even more

The thing about the rifles and repeating patterns, is that a grooved cannons would also add to the potency of the spell, both reallistically (this is a fundamental feature of contemporary ballisticis) and in the lore.

im working on a magic system of my own, based in nanotechnology (airborn nanobots specifically, but in the blood and body too) instead of mana, but the people that 'use' this magic have no idea about the nanotechnology. your idea about mana being attracted to repeating patterns is brilliant, and exactly what i needed to make sense of how my system would work:
the repeating patterns are like the computers of old, that used physical, cutout pieces of paper to 'code' the machines. Like a bee dancing to convey a message, the movements, the intricate patterns, and repetition substitute for coding in the absence of an actual computer that can directly interface with the nanomachines.
This computer (or computers) used to exist, before a cataclysm that made the people go back to the stoneage technologically. So now the self replicating nanomachines (too small to notice, barely dust to the naked eye), that are actually coming from the people themselves, is all that remains.
