For Max Payne 1 you needed to cap your FPS because whenever Max goes into bullet time and shoot dodges in any direction the high FPS makes him not jump in the air and instead he clips through the floor as shown in the video.
It should be cap to what? 60 fps? 30 fps? Could you help me with that please?
@@hawaianmobster1579 I think you have to cap just under your refresh rate so, 60hz = 59.7 fps ; 30hz = 25.9 fps ; 144hz =141 fps; 165hz = 163 fps.
You should also turn vsync if you can.
@@hawaianmobster1579 60fps max, 50 to be on the safe side. I tried with 120fps and even though the physics seemed to work, I realized that propane tanks were not catching fire when shot and I couldn't make them explode at all.

Add to that Max Payne's nightmares, especially that red line where you could fall into the abyss if you took a wrong step. I felt like I was in hell itself. And on top of that there were references to the Illuminati in the enemies and even a Ouija board or fallen angels. 💀
The nightmare sequences from the first 2 games would freak me out a lot. Especially if you fell off the red line on the ground in the first game
I love the huge leaping jump in Max Payne 3 before it all slows down. So intense. It takes you in with the moment.

You're right, I removed the fps cap in GTA 3 and sometimes Claude would jump really fast.

Capping at 60fps fixes:
1. the shootdodge (actually jumping instead of sliding across the floor)
2. prevents sliding down on stairs when going down, and
3. makes the nightmare sequences consistent (it's hard to stick the landing consistently on the bloody webs part with a million fps)

I played Max Payne 3 9 year ago when i was in my 30s and in love it. Now i am playing again in my 40s, im bold, fat, long beard, alcoholic with a lot of health problems, my life is a total mess and the security and crime problems in my country rise like hell. This really improve a lot the game. Is like a real life patch.

@@mossfoobar8322 All games have to be that much different or else it will become another part of the same game or another game of the same series, in case of GTA VC and GTA SA, the maps are completely different but gameplay is similar. The Graphics of GTA V in 2013 was very similar to Max Payne 3 in terms of texture quality and lighting.. GTA V characters also have their abilities i.e Focus while driving (slowmo thing) of Franklin, Trevor rage ability etc. there are lots of more things to say but most important thing is "I feel like" means a personal opinion, no need to say that a person is retarded please

@@nike2136 Max Payne 1 is good in graphics and physics. You are confusing something. There is simply no physics in Max 1 - no ragdoll, no ballistics. The effects in the game are terrible and look bad in 2022. monotonous - run, jump, shoot and so on in a circle

Still in my opinion 1&2 Max was much better in atmosphere and story than third Max. The third one was just out from Max Payne world, good action game, but lost the Max Payne world feeling.
this was the game that got me into shooters. the mechanics were fun. i honestly had no problem dying. i would get pumped trying to try outdo myself with weapon use, cooler dives, accurate shots and of course ending killshots. the whole series has such replay value

14:45 never played MP3 but I'm very pleased to hear they reused the OG pump action shotgun sound. One of the beefiest shotgun sounds in vidya history.
I like how max get better at leaping in the first he was lower to the ground and bullet time went by really fast. In 2 he leap's higher and bullet time is a lot more slower. In 3 he leaps really high and is in bullet time the longest (also in the older games max got up a lot faster but in 3 sence he's older and drunk for alot of the game he gets up so much slower). Its nice seeing max perfecting his leaps its probably unintentionally done but it still cool seeing max getting better by each game.
I wish MP3 had the slow-mo spinning reload animation from MP2. It was so ridiculous but it looked beautiful.

My parents saw me crying & they asked me “Are you alright?”, then I responded, “Yes, I’m alright. I just felt sorry about Max Payne’s story.”

I really liked all of them but 3 felt kind of separated from the other 2 for me. First two had sad and dark environments in New Jersey fighting mobsters and commandos while 3 took place in sunny São Paulo fighting a bunch of favela nobodies that just happened to pick a fight with the wrong person

Over time Max mastered the art of shoot dodging, in first game he dives close to the ground, in the second he jumps towards the air and in the final installment, as he got older, he dives into the air for higher and much longer
Shootdodge and Bullet Time are very cool in Max Payne 3. I especially like how Max makes an angry effortful sound when he's about to jump when he's going to do a shootdodge in Max Payne 3

Simply put Rockstar games took Remedies work and made it even better the shoot dodge mechanics , the fast and rolling cover system and improved bullet time Max Payne 3 is the best third person shooter experience
The only thing I felt lacking was throwables grenades and Molotov it feels bit unfair enemies can throw them at you but you can't use them in the game

@@fightingforce8498Better ragdolls and object physics, character moving is more realistic and less clunkier than the previous games, games had a proper cover system, better weapon physics and sounds, has a realistic gun system so you don't have all the guns on the game on yourself at all times, and jumping wasn't just clunky, but it was downright useless on the older games, NPC's aren't bullet sponges like they were on the older games.
@@gabrielmartines3510 yes, and the first game is still the best. i've spent the most hours in 3, but going back now, 1 and 2 are the most enjoyable, with 1 being the best. everything feels so right in that game. 1 is also the only game in the series where rolls are a super useful and an' important part of the move set, making it even more fun to play. the other two games have rolling, and it is almost useless (especially in 2).

The Max Payne 1 footage in this video doesn't have the FPS limiter, which is why Max doesn't really shootdodge as much as he just sorta lies down on the ground. Get the FPS limiter and he jumps more like he does in Max Payne 2. I don't know why it is like this, just some quirk of the engine I guess.

I mean obviously the gap between the 2 and 3 is enormous and the improvement in visuals is a given, but Max Payne 3 not only was a good PS3/XBOX 360/PC game, but the best TPS game of that generation. As a matter of fact, to this day in 2021, in terms of gun mechanics and bullet damage alone, l think not a singe game comes close. Name a single TPS game from the last 9 years since MP3 release that has better gun mechanics and/or bullet damage, I will wait. Rockstar simply knows how to approach game development, since Max Payne is all about shooting, well they made sure that part was the best in the game and really satisfying. Even though for me Max Payne 1 and 2 had better stories, Max Payne 3 is so good in terms of shooting that l can't help but choose to play MP3 every time. One thing l hate about older MP games is that you can't right click to aim like you can in MP3, but at the time that was normal though. MP3 has its flaws too, but they are easily overlooked since other parts of the game are outstanding.
Id say any game that doesnt have enemies that are made of glue or have aimbot on high difficulty......either that or the player is monumenally weak.....GTAIV doesnt even have slow mo and the gameplay is leagues more engaging
Yeah this what Rockstar nail when comes to this game its was gunplay, with gta5 it was the open world and Red Dead 2 it was open world and story.

Guess I'm one of them lol. No beef with those who enjoy MP3 but I never really could bring myself to like 3. The gameplay is good (great in parts) but the story and writing kills my enjoyment imo (with some exceptions admittedly) only salvaged by James McCaffery's performance (RIP).

So the shoot dodging physics don't actually work properly unless the game is running at 60 fps. You can see Max's feet clipping through the floor in the beginning of the video.
