In spite of wearing Tweed Jackets to review everything from an old Ford Granada to a brand new MG4, speaking about the cars used in multiple old television series and also shambolically shuffling around old car shows with mumbling and inaccurate commentary, I actually source cars for clients (and do it as a job, unlike everything else above), and so it is time for some more sensible consumer advice. When with a client in August 2019, I came across a situation I had not faced before, where the London-based seller was unable to produce the V5 (more accurately known as the V5C) registration document or log book after having finished the test drive, and so it left things in a somewhat interesting situation...
In this video, we will look at what a V5C is, what one looks like, when you may need a V62, show a document reference number (which is now useless) and ask whether or not it is a good idea to purchase a car where there is not one present when arriving at the seller's address... Some of you probably know the answer without even watching the video! Nothing untoward, then....
As an independent vehicle consultant, I take potential buyers through the whole car buying process from choosing a make and model to a vehicle handover and road tax. In addition to information on this service, I also have a selection of written and video reviews of cars that I have owned, hired, borrowed or have somehow come into my possession. Please use the Contact Me page on my website to get in touch, visit my Facebook page for latest updates and share this video if you like it! Thank you for watching.
