I run the 50's in my car and they are great. You have made a good choice. I did notice that you have wires under carriage that are not "sleeved" or covered. Hope you don't encounter problems.
Hi Robert. We are 3 years on and haven't had any issues as of yet. I just ran the wires the way they were run from the factory, although sleeving them would look cleaner and protect them better. Earl
I'm about to make the same change. I screwed up and bought Jegs version of 40 series Flowmasters and they are too loud and rappy is a great way to put it. Kind of has a sharp crack or snap when I whack the throttle or at medium hard acceleration. I want that gone. The 40s were great on my race car but not this built 401 FE in my 64 Galaxie fastback street car. Thanks for making this video, it gives me the info I need. Nice truck!
Sounds really good. How much did it tame the noise? Its hard for me to tell on the audio. Also, I'm sure your answer will be subjective, but I find decibel readings to a bit misleading at times.
It is still plenty loud, but it took the drone out of it. It had a bad drone that resonated in the cab at about 1500 rpm. It did a good job of removing that.
They definitely helped. The 50s just have a lower tone that doesn't have as much of that ear killing drone. We have highway gears and an automatic with overdrive so our 60 mph rpms are pretty low.
I can't get over how beautiful your truck is! Looks amazing!
Glad you like it!
Been a fan of 50 Series mufflers for years. Excellent call on the change.

I did exactly what you did, went from 40s to 50 series. The drone was still there. Had two J pipes welded, drone gone and still sounds great.
Surprised more people don't know about j pipes.
Great looking truck.
I like my wife but I love my 40 series
My uncle had A truck exactly like he ended up doing the exact same thing you’re doing for the exact same reason😎❤️

Thanks! I think that you will be very pleased. It is quiet enough now that my wife is ok with it and you can actually think while driving.
5:55 that sounds so much better! Mean and growly without being obnoxious.
I think so too! Smoking the tires through first and second gear sounds so good!
Just sound proof the cab!
Will not work for drone

If you just buy tail pipes it gets alot quieter. Hell, strait pipes all the way out back are quieter than 40s dumped behind the axle.
Sounds great! What engine?
It is a 350 with vortec heads and a Comp Cams XE262 cam.
sounds good
Those exhaust dumps aren't helping your drone problem
Good video
Just put the rest of the tail pipe on and it will quiet down a bunch. 50's sound great all the same though.
I’m in the same predicament. I have 40’s and the drone at 60mph is awful. Did the 50’s address that?
Did the part throttle drone go away? Mine is really bad on a 500hp ls3
It is not bad at all. It is easy to hold a conversation even though the interior is a metal box.
Good information on this subject as I’m running a Stoker with long tube headers and 3 inch pipe.
What is the part number thanks
It is a flowmaster 50 series. There are different part numbers for different inlet /outlet diameters and inlet/outlet configurations.
Lol

@@RepairRestore Thanks for the reply I have the 700R4 trans and 373 gears in the rear. My wife complains of the drone so this should help.
Perfect! We have 3.42's , so pretty close for comparison.@@dhaynes735
