Welcome fellow worms, we are the bookworms. For hundreds of years our family has lived in this soil lead by the worm in a background, but to start worshipping it, we must give it a gift and that gift... Is Shawn. Shawn and his dad, together they would fix this worm... Let the nostalgia commence.
@@ThemeParkWorldwide My naighbors wouldn't be happy, our fence broke down during a storm quite a while ago and we still havn't got it fixed, so I think they might get a bit freaked out if the bookworm where to be in my garden
Not only have you restored an iconic piece of Alton Towers history, you've done it at a time in life where there is a worldwide pandemic going in - so in all the bad times, you've stayed positive and done something very productive and you should be very, very proud of yourself. You've brought life back to the once, soulless Bookworm - who was nearly thrown to landfill. This bookworm was seen by millions and has now been transformed back to its glory days. You've done such a good job of the restoration and you and your dad should be proud. The one other major positive you should take away from this though Shawn is not only have you brought the Bookworm back to life, but you've made great memories with your Father. Those are some special memories that you will cherish forever. Good on your parents supporting you and helping you achieve what you wanted. So, on behalf of everyone that has seen these videos - we appreciate everything that you put into making this a success and thank you and your parents.
Thank you for taking us all on this fun and magical journey. I don’t think I’ve ever been emotional over a 30 year old bookworm before but thank you. The time and hard work you have put into this huge project is astonishing. Thank you!
Now that's what I call team work. Thank you Shaun and dad for restoring the bookworm there's nothing like working on projects with you're dad 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Really gets me this series. Not just restoring an iconic part of Alton Towers history but memories you’ll have of working with your Dad on this. I so miss my Dad and working on projects. I’m sure you will but cherish these memories Shawn.
This totally needs to be put on show at Alton Towers as some sort of exhibition or something!! People need to appreciate this in person, it looks amazing, you’ve done a great job!!
*GIANT GASP* Shawn!! I would really love to see a new series where you install new motors for the eyes and and the push button with the original audio! That would be so cool. And also the cliffhanger at the end!!! *ANOTHER BIG GASP*
Once upon a time... there lived a bookworm who brought joy to generations of children. But over time he became a shell of what he once was. Cast aside and destined for the scrapheap, the bookworm thought his days were over, until one man found him and saved him from certain fate. And whilst it would take 6 years, bookworm and mans dream would never fade. One day the dream started to become reality as each fraction of bookworm was worked on with care and love that only passion could drive. The youtube community watched and marvelled as this one beloved but forgotten character, began to shine once again. With the power of father a son projects, 200 hours of hard work and a sprinkle of childhood magic, dragged this bookworm from his shadow and gave him a new life. Not only that but magical memories were created for father and son. And once again our bookworm stood tall and proud. So to Shawn and his dad, we say thank you for letting us share in this story. For showing us the beauty in this world. But the story is not over for our little bookworm...it's only just begun.
Maybe I’ve been in isolation too long but I got really emotional at the end there. Seeing all that hard work and dedication from you and papa Sanbrooke really got to me! I cannot express how impressed I am at what you’ve achieved here and I cannot wait to see what comes next. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this series,. Thank you for sharing it with us. Xx
Me too. I have no emotional attachment to the Bookworm, having never neen to Alton Towers until I was 30. Yet it was heartwarming to see it rescued and lovingly restored. Well done, Shawn and you dad. A wonderful project and series.
Total respect to you guys doing this project Shawn! Something like this, which is a piece of history, should be saved and kept for years to come, thanks for sharing this. Amazing work!
Congratulations 🥳! Where’s it going to go?! Restoring the mechanics!? I love this series and got a little emotional watching the end! Thanks 🙏 for keeping me sane during quarantine

He looks absolutely beautiful. Welcome back to life Mr. Alton Bookworm! 7:35 am Canada EST, couldn't sleep seeing this online, finally. Thank you Shawn and Dad. It brought a tear to my eye seeing this, and I don't know why, I have never seen him in real life, but I can see how much he means to you and to Alton Towers and how close you and Dad are.
I have been hooked on this adventure. What a wonderful experience - what a journey to go on with your dad. Preserving parts of our childhood is so important. THANK YOU
I'm actually lost for words this project was absolutely terrific, the hard work you have put into this Alton Towers need to say a big thank you because I know I am!
Anyone who has visited Alton Towers over the years must have a particularly favourite memory. How wonderful to see one restored to its former glory. It's been quite an epic and fascinating journey, and highly entertaining. Well done!
Thank you so much for bringing us along on this journey. I'm so glad to see this piece of history being so dedicatedly cared after by someone who had no obligation to do so. Thank you for working so hard.
Thank you for bringing this back to me and my family. You have no idea how much this was to me when I was young. So from me and My family and probably millions. THANK YOU SO MUCH
Smashing job you and your Dad, little help from your Mum did. Wow can't believe how a life the bookworm looks. Can't wait to hear him tell us all a story. Brilliant again.

*applause* fair play, that is just amazing. What a journey the old worm has had. And to think that he may have a bit of motion and sound!!!! Hats off to you and your Dad. Top work.
What idiots have put thumbs down on this!! I love it Sean, you and your dad must be so proud of the work you’ve done 🙌🏻🙌🏻 I find that I have a new appreciation for the scenery in theme parks now, do you feel the same knowing all the original work that must have gone into making the bookworm?
What an incredible work you and your father have done! Thanks for restoring such an important piece of theme park history. Incredible video, as always!
Our family discovered your channel during the recent quarantine, and we're so glad we did! Very much enjoying the content--especially this series. I have no personal experience with Alton Towers, but I was so sorry to see that The Bookworm had been allowed to fall into disrepair while still on display. How wonderful that you were able to grant him the "happily ever after" that he deserves! Here's hoping your heroic efforts to preserve the figure will inspire parks and other individuals to follow suit.
Despite the condition the bookworm was in, the fact you have restored it to its former glory is amazing, the relationship you and your dad have is so admirable, and it’s been so inspiring to watch this! Even though it is not animated, I would be delighted to watch you animate his eyes again, because what you have is amazing, and you totally deserve it!
The best bit is the message of family, teamwork and learning new skills for me as a Dad it makes me proud of you both. Oh and seeing it finished too haha.
Shawn, both you and your dad have just made me so emotional, and i can not thank you both for doing this. What a huge part of Alton Towers history and whats more the Alton Towers Bookworm has been reborn. I recon it will reappear at some point at Alton Towers either that or Shawn and his Dad have something else planned. Thank you for doing this
Really enjoyed watching this with my children. My youngest is only 4 so never got the chance to see the book worm at Towers, although I often tell him about it when we visit. He has been glued to every episode and constantly said that he wished he could see the book worm. Maybe now he will get the chance. How exciting😃
'I've left half finished concreting in the garden for this, I will tell my wife its your fault if the new pagodas is wonky :) what you have done over the lockdown to entertain us has been nothing short of outstanding!! Thankyou.
loved watching restoring bookworm episodes. You and your dad have done amazing job restoring bookworm, both should be very proud on what you have done. loving the light effect on it too.
From the left side of the pond in a small logger town called Forks, Washington (famous for a small book series called the Twilight Saga), I congratulate you on your achievement of reviving the Alton Towers Bookworm, an essential piece of your childhood (among many others) and Storybook Land at the park. I immediately knew the end result was obviously going to be one of tender loving care. For heaven's sake, Shawn! You've worked at Alton Towers, a fulfillment of childhood dreams for many, and I can safely say, yours as well. Even though I haven't been to the park itself, or lived the most iconic years, I vicariously toured the park through you and reading various articles and watching videos about this magnificent place. I've followed every episode the day it was uploaded, and it's been delightful to see you and your father doing something positive and encouraging during the lockdown. Alton Towers is on my bucket list of parks I want to visit for sure. Long live the Bookworm and many bookworms out there. Cheers!
This is absolutely fantastic, what an absolutely incredible achievement for you and your dad and a wonderful project where your dad has passed on knowledge and skills to you. This is what family is about. All the love to you and here’s to many more restoration projects to come.
Gosh he looks fantastic! If only Merlin had as much passion and care for the park as you do. I make sculptures for a living (or at least I'm trying to!) and I can't get over how new and polished he looks. Good work!
Shawn this has been epic and I think everyone agrees it has kept us all gripped, entertained and ‘emotional’ during the lockdown. You really hit the spot with this one, it’s what we all needed, we just didn’t realise a huge, shiny, colourful bookworm could make us so happy.
Brilliant series. I used to go to Alton Towers as a teenager every year when on holiday in Derbyshire. Lovely to see the finished project. I now watch all your videos to research where to take my teenage boys. Fantastic work..
This series has definitely helped me to get through Covid-19 lockdown. You guys have done an amazing job bringing the bookworm back to life, Thanks TPW!!!
Shawn, thank you very much for these 5 great episodes. So nice that we were allowed to be part of your trip with The Bookworm. You and your father made something beautiful out of it. I hope someday that you can make the eyes move again.
Congratulations to you Shawn and Shawn’s dad. I unfortunately never saw story book land at Alton Towers so I had no connection with it. But I never thought about how emotional I would get to see the bookworm come to life again. It is astonishing to see how much work you have put into this huge project and I can’t wait to see what your future plans are for the bookworm.
Absolutely amazing work Shawn! The restoration of the bookworm with your Dad will become a memory for life! It’s been great following this series, hope to see you soon 🙂

Outstanding result captured by an equally outstanding mini-documentary series. So inspiring. This should be shown as a film in schools, workplaces, etc. Shows life is not about being all things to all people, it’s taking care of your own wee patch of the world and making it count. Wonderful stuff, well done both of you.
Well done Shawn and Dad. But most importantly thank you for restoring an icon in theme park history. Your passion has led to an amazing result. I do hope Alton Towers acknowledges this achievement. Congratulations 👏👏👏

As a relatively new Alton Towers fan, I never got to experience the Storybook Land era. By Episode 5 I feel like I know everything about it and how much it meant to so many people, including yourself. Massive credit to you and your Dad to taking on this mammoth task and succeeding. Also, loving your Dad's AC/DC Black Ice t shirt! Rock on Mr Sanbrooke!
All caught up now! Incredible project and story, Massive well done to you Shawn and you're Dad. Never saw this as a kid but can see how much it meant to you. Very inspiring. Congratulations on the finished piece!
Great work by you and your dad, it looks amazing and good to see it didn't just end up in the skip. Also glad to know we have BookWorm Part 2 to look forward to.

Well done Shawn! I have enjoyed this journey with you so much. I look forward to seeing any further videos about this project. Alton Towers should be very proud of what you have done and it should be put back into the park. Well done, once again!
