  • Hi. CUMO is my benchmade, single shot, three lug bolt action, which I built from scratch in 1992. CUMO is the model description that Qld Firearms Registry gave it when registration was enforced in 1996. I didn't much like what they did and complained about it, but their excuse was that it had to have a model and that it was short for Custom Model.
I've since discovered that 'cumo' in spanish means, 'around, about' or 'kind of', so this is my 'kind of' rifle. :)
The action and bolt are made from 4140 CrMo, heat treated steel and it was originally built to suit the .308 Win cartridge. I have since fitted 25-284 Win, .243 Win & 22-250 Rem barrels to it. It would even take the .425 Westly Richards cartridge, if I wanted to ;)
I used it in the mid 90's to win many competitions in Field Rifle and Mettalic Silhouette, at Zone, State and National levels. Those days are over now and it is mainly used for varmint shooting.
It might be a little rough around the edges, but it was all I had once and it still serves me well. The home made scope mounts have 20 MOA declination. The scope is a Sightron SII, 6-24x42 Mill Dot.
    Thanks for watching my channel.

What do you mean? Did they engrave it ?

No, they just said that that was what it was going to be! I did try to change it, but that didn't work. It doesn't really matter, it's just a name on the rego form. It still shoots the same ;)
