Unboxing: • You've never seen a po...
This is the RP-PB054, part of the Power Station series of powerbanks from RAVPower. Inside it includes a modified sine-wave inverter which can handle a continuous AC load of 65W. It also includes a standard 5V 2.4A USB socket and a Type-C 5V 3A USB socket.
The powerbank charges with an external DC brick which is rated at 19V 1.6A, potentially up to 30W. Although in our testing the powerbank never drew more than 25W. The re-charge time is around 3 hours and 45 minutes from empty.
It's not the most efficient way to charge a laptop but it sure is convenient being able to plug a bunch of different AC chargers or appliances into the socket. You just have to remember it's a modified sine wave inverter instead of pure sine wave so you might have issues with inductive loads like AC fans and it's not recommended for use with sensitive medical equipment.
You can get other powerbanks which can output 19/20V DC which is suitable for most laptops. This is a far more efficient way of charging laptops instead of going from DC to AC to DC.
The powerbank is advertised as being 27,000 mAh or 74.37Wh. Our testing showed the true capacity to be significantly lower. We usually see losses of around 10-15% due to the way the battery output is boosted. In this case, we saw losses of around 25% which is too high to consider this a genuine capacity powerbank.
It's possible that I simply got a 'bad' unit and your results might vary.
I think it's a great product and love being able to plug various AC devices into the powerbank. As someone who's always on the move, it makes life very convenient. It seems like most of the cost of this unit is due to the micro DC/AC inverter found inside. I'd like to see more batteries crammed in to give a higher capacity and longer run time. I wouldn't expect this to make much difference to the price of the unit.
This is the worst performing powerbank I've tested from RAVPower when it comes to the capacity checks. I also tested the RP-PB055 which also includes an AC outlet and that performed VERY well on the capacity test.

In my original unboxing ( ruclips.net/video/PNReU97HfC8/видео.html ) you can see the bigger brother of this powerbank which performed much better in the capacity test (95% or higher) .
Gadget Addict, doing the dirty work so my subscribers don't have to. Thank you man, it is wonderful to know what works and what does not here in the Philippines. Your efforts save many folks time and money.
My laptop needs at least 135watts to charge the laptop and it's battery. Do you know of any power banks that could cut it? Or should I just settle for prelongong the laptop dying?
is it normal that the inverter automatically turns off when you plug in small consuming device like ordinary phone charger? in my case it works like it doesnt detect anything and it just turns off if i plug in my phone charger
do you think I will be able to plug in a studio monitor, and guitar pedals with this product?
and how many product I should run at once?
Hi! Thanks for video. Will it charge MacBook Pro 13"" 2017? 61W is needed. I think no(
I would be really happy if you could please answer my question, I have blackmagic pocket cinema camera 4k, the batteries for this camera runs extremely fast. I have nearly 7 batteries, and I can’t keep changing batteries every 5 minutes during filming , it’s a bit annoying, so I try to connect its original ac cable. When I’m filming at home I don’t have problem with that, I can just use the ac cable connect to home plug. But when I go out or travelling I was looking for something like this to connect my camera ac cable to something like this device, it’s much better than keep changing batteries, but what I don’t know is that will it give enough power to make the camera work or not? By the way this is a really strong camera which is why I’m doubt about buying this device. Please if you or anyone else know the answer to this question, it will mean a lot to me.
What if you use the power bank to power led lights?
Thanks for your work, I learn something every time I watch your vids!
I'm glad you like them !:)
great video, your explanations are very good and I learned a lot from this video.
Appreciate the effort on testing the capacity of the ravpower bro 👍🏻 gonna buy soon!
Honest and detailed review. Hope all the youtubers do the same. Thanks
why do you have a 220v fan with a 110v plug
Mine have failure with the surge protection. After go one surge protection with a 70w laptop, i have plug the 30 watt max tablet adapter and the surge instantly shutdown the unit (12V 2.5 a adapter 30W maximum) I return unit to the seller . defect surge protection.
Really enlightening.. Thanks for the review 👍
hey, good testing data, can i ask if you tried the total output while charging using the USB or Type C outlet ? did it gave better results?
Do you have any better recommendation aside from this? Any brand almost same functionality but better results with ravpower?
Thanks for your effort!
Nice vid. I read elsewhere these shouldn't be stored at 100% so do were you able to test how long it could hold a charge from 80% down to 30% if you just put it in storage for emergency purposes?
So is this compatible with DJI Drone batteries. Phantom 4 pro ?
can I run a 250watt subwoofer amp on the AC port?
no it's not really about whether the rated capacity is genuine or not, for Lithium, at least in our world, we discharge at the 80% rule, usually till at about 3.3V per cell under load. In your case, 77% is pretty close to this rule. Also i noticed some powerbank cut-off way too early at 3.7V per cell therefore not utilizing the remaining useful capacity
What kind of power bank that is and I like the power bank and how long it lasts by the way
Can i properly charge my laptop that i bought here in the ph?!
Useful and detailed reviews
Can this power a console? Specifically the Xbox 360 Slim.
Can it charge HP ProBook 430 G2? How many times?
🛑Can this be charged by the ankle 21watt solar panel?
Pls try the Anker Powerhouse. I just got it last week from Amazon. Its mind blowing
I've watched some videos about it and it really does look amazing. A bit beyond my personal budget but if I was in a province and suffered from daily brownouts, I'd certainly consider investing in it.
Gadget Addict beyond your budget. You must be loaded, not having to buy gadgets. Having them sent to you for free.
How long can it run a 15 inch led monitor.
WELL EXPLAINED
Also you have to see how much current they draw. It's not just a voltage issue.
Another qustion is, will it charge slower of its output is just 110v? Compared to 220v here in PH
If you're using a laptop charger or cellphone charger that supports both 110V and 220V, you wont notice any difference in the charge speed of your laptop. It will simply draw more current at the lower voltage but the actual wattage will be the same and the charge speed will be the same.
You said a better version of what RAVPower how much in LAZADA is it
How long does it last while fully charged?
I try to look for a charger I would just I could try to charge when I'm outside and I'm away from outlet and wait wait from home also and doesn't take too long to charge and looks like looks pretty good to me and I like it like the video
Are you make a test of the ravpwer 27,000mah battery bank with A/C outlet.
I already tested the capacity and it scored very well. Just a few percent off the advertised capacity which is very impressive when you consider there's normally 10-15% expected losses. I'll be making a video about that one soon. Although it will likely be a shorter video.
It's gigantic!
Zed Rameses that's what she said
Hey you use the dash charger
Thanks.
Great review ! Very insighful ....
The fan is making that sound because the power bank does not output a pure sine-wave propably.
Is there available RAVPower here in the Philippines?
Hello, Can this power a speaker that is rated 30 w? Its an sony xb5
+Nikolai Eltervaag Enes that's under the maximum output so yes it should work.
Thank you for keeping me from wasting my time.
So what's the verdict if you want a powerbank for phone and surface pro3?
James Braselton Solar Tab?
Are you doing a video about ChargeTech - PLUG 54,000mah Portable Battery.
Maybe one day :)
Good information but your not telling us how long the power last for continuously in each items before need charge again
I like when he puts a Philippine website link for us filipinos, thank you bro
You're welcome :)
that was quick hmm it reminds me on an insane powerbank that is more to mah capacity but i do prefer the rav power for the looks and portability
You might be thinking of the Anker Power House. The capacity is substantially higher but it's currently selling for $499.
yep the powerhouse haha although its insane
What does PH means on the description
Would this work for a heated blanket or space heater ?
no
sorry for my question..it is off the topic but..where did you buy that mini industrial fan? and how much? :D
I bought it from "Handyman", the DIY shop in the mall. I don't remember how much it was though. I *think* it was somewhere between 700-900 PHP. I use it every day and other than the external grill going rusty, it's still working perfectly.
Thanks!! been searching for that kind of fan for a long time..i haven't seen one even in the mall ,,maybe ive been looking at the wrong place/branch ...thats why i asked XD..thanks again for the info :D
Would you please post an Amazon U.S. link for usb watt meter, dummy load, and a.c. watt meter. Thank you.
how do you reset this item sir?
were you able to test max output for the USB c port?
From what I remember, the max output on the USB C port was just 15 watts. So many powerbanks advertise about how they have a c-type port but they're still limited to 15W. Not very exciting.
I have return my first power bank because surge failure.
the new is better, but surge protection is too sensitive. for exemple, if i run my win10 tablet at max power (processor and graphics at 100% usage) and u plug the adapter , it instantly start blinking and stop (the adapter is rated max 30W and normally, the power bank support 60-70w max. i think is bullshit!) if i put some adapter, the initial chagrge when plug the adapter make the surge protection activation and Without any laptop or device pluged at the adaptator. I can use the tablet (30W) but the adapter need to be plugged before starting the AC output and if the device is at max power, 1/2 time it surge protection shutdown the AC.
Sad because it can be a great device. but the Surge protection sensitivity or failure mat it bad even if you run a 30W tablet... :/
Hi can you do a review for the yoobao 42,000 with AC? just like this one?
does 125v works
I am going to buy this when I have more mony.
I notice lazada are selling the 110v units which seems a bit strange
I think they thought it won't matter if they sell the 110V or 220V because most laptop chargers (etc.) will happily run on both 110 and 220. But I've personally recommended they sell the 220V one inside the PH because there will be people who want to power something which is specifically 220V only, for example a desk fan sold locally. designed to operate on 220V.
Hello, I have a Asus ROG Laptop and it uses 120watts. Unfortunately base on the your video it will not work on both RavPower AC Power Banks. Do you know any powerbank that can power my laptop? Nice video by the way!
The Anker Power House can supposedly output up to 120W but it's quite a bit more expensive and not overly portable. If you have your own car and spend time in that, you could buy a cheap DC/AC inverter which could manage it easily. It's very hard to find portable charging solutions for super high-end / gaming laptops. You might want to look into the possibility of buying a second laptop battery and an external charger. If your battery is removable.
Anker Power House and Chargetech - PLUG 54,000mah both powerbanks are awesome and can power my laptop but your correct they are too expensive $369 and $499.. I might get a another battery .. That is the cheapest way for longer usage. Thank you!
Another thing to consider is that 120W is the maximum output of the Anker Power House. My experience with most **affordable** inverters is that they can only run at their maximum load for a certain amount of time before overheating and shutting down. So as much as possible, you want to over-spec your inverter for whatever you're powering.
Thanks for the info i might go for a another battery at this time and soon i'll get the Chargetech - PLUG 54,000mah it is cheaper than the Anker PowerHouse and can output up to 250W.
my gaming pc uses 450w
What country are you in. .???
You had to return it? Cant they afford to just gift some to the reviewers? It is advertising afterall
lol dunno, I guess it's too expensive for them to give away
Can I use a 115 volt 60 hz devise in it?
yes
Good video. Hope you can do some focusing on the power walls being sold in PH market.
Thanks Vic :) Who's selling the power wall in the Philippines? I know some local solar companies have been looking into it but I wasn't aware of anyone already making it happen locally. Cheers
Gadget Addict yeah actually i just saw it in an solar FB group. If you can show us how to build one that'd be great 😁😁
can this charge a gaming laptop?
It depends how much the gaming laptop consumes. If you check the power adapter, you can see the wattage.
Lol we have the same fan you demonstrate hahahaha we use it to cool our AV Receiver
Oh yeah? That's a beefy fan just for an AV receiver!
Hello, thank for nice product to give as a gift my boy. Can you submit a web seite for online purchase? Thank
Mini scooter with a fan motor
If I buy this I hope I can get pass airport security, but it’s 27000mah
Bad product idea. An Anker battery bank with the same capacity but without the inverter/AC outlet costs a fraction of this
zodiacfml exactly that is why this one is better and to find one that would have everything i needed with same capacity without the ac would be only 1t dollars cheaper
Not really a bad product idea. This would really helpful when you are on the go and you need to charge your laptop or for me when I go out and I need to charge my drone batteries
that little fucking fan dont require 220v LMAO
Can you do it tomorrow.
+Leonardo Limon even if I shoot it tomorrow, the video probably won't go up straight away. There's not going to be much to see. It's basically the same as this one but 220V and higher capacity.
+john doe you will see it. But it might be a few days until it goes live, that's all.:)
Mine will no longer charge and the brand customer service does not exist
Where did you buy it? Ravpower are definitely still in business.
@@GadgetAddict got it from Lazada Philippines
With that charge an electric skateboard
DONT BUY if you want to charge drone battery. It charged just 1 battery full. Second batter charged %50. I have mavic air.
Less than 80% efficiency seems bad
If you're on a tighter budget or want higher capacity, check my other video for more options - ruclips.net/video/KG_von1fXBQ/видео.html
