    I'm so happy Blackstar has gone down this path. I've been a Blackstar fan from the first HT series amp I owned. I always said that Blackstar is the company Marshal should have grown up and become. Solid gear, straight forward to use, sounds just great, no need for "fancy". This little pedal plus a Plethora or H9 in the loop and you are absolutely laughing!

    I've been running the Amped 3 (sometimes direct into my DAW, sometimes through my Marshall return jack, and sometimes both at the same time) with a Tumnus into a Spark Booster - when it calls for it - into the "front" of the Amp pedal. Then I run a Boss delay into a Wampler Ethereal reverb/delay, into a Spark mini through the effects loop. The 2nd Spark gives that nice volume boost for solos. The Marshall DSL40 only has two channels with a shared EQ. The Amped 3 has 3 channels with individual EQs per channel, plus extra options. This Blackstar creation is my new go to setup. Win.

    Amazing how far modellers have come! The only unfortunate part is that because it’s a computer, it’ll become obsolete pretty quickly and get replaced with something better within a few years which inevitably kills the resale price. It’s really the only place a tube amp still wins hands down. That said, if you’re looking for a music making tool that is lightweight and portable, and selling it down the road isn’t a primary consideration, these are awesome in the studio and on the stage! Love the power tube selection!

      You can choose to no be part of the endless cycle of new models.
      Not like what you have still stop working suddenly just because new models came out.
      Modelers have reached a point where any new models won’t have drastic difference in sound quality and improvements will be more to do with features and interface.
      No real reason to upgrade unless you must have the latest.
      I know people still using Boss GT-8

    I will say, it really matters what speaker your running this through. I ran it through a 2x12 vert Blackstar cab with some rando Celestion speakers and thought it sounded a little cheap, not bad, but cheap. Ran it through a 1x12 mesa cab it blew my fucking brains out. This thing absolutely RIPS. The cleans are amazing, the crunch bites harder than a Pitbull dreaming about children, and the Overdrive would make a Mazda 787B blush. Serious contender for anyone in the market for a 3 channel amp that doesn't weigh 75 pounds.
    Had no idea about the reverb latch mode, I should read the destructions next time. Killer review and killer playing!

You can control some of the settings with Midi... I haven't gotten that far yet in experimenting. Hopefully... Blackstar will improve Amped 2 with memory slots, so you can recall them... even via midi would be Ok.

    As a player who has never used a pedal like this I’m curious about something. Everyone talks about the sounds which is cool but kind of redundant. No one is talking about the power section. I’m curious how this pedal develops its “100 watts” of power and how does that sound when playing live? Is the volume comparable to a 100 watt tube head when played thru a cab? Does pushing the speakers with the pedal make them get all flubby and destroy the sound or does it hold up and keep things tight at high db? I get the bedroom and recording thing and that’s cool, but does it feed the bulldog when I want it to move air in front of a crowd of people thru a full stack? Anyone?

    • @CameronCooper
      @CameronCooper  Месяц назад +1

      I have given this a go through a cab using the different power selections. For live purposes and jamming at levels that get you above a drummer, it's perfect for that when you get it up to 100W. The tone of it doesn't change since it isn't a valve amp.

    • @johnnyray8675
      @johnnyray8675 Месяц назад

      @ Do you happen to know how it produces power? Is it like MOSFET or OP Amp or whatever? Not too familiar with the solid state terms but I know there’s different methods of producing solid state power. Does it get excessively tinny and harsh when loud? It seems like a very high end forward type of sound from just hearing it on my computer and phone. Can you EQ that high end out really well at stage volume? Cheers and thanks for the answer.

    • @CameronCooper
      @CameronCooper  Месяц назад +1

      Amped3 is where it's at. it doesn't have effects like the amped2, but the amped2 doesn't have the gain like the amped3. The way to go IMO (I've played all 3) is to get the Amped3 and any effects you want buy them separately and run the through the effects loop.

      Travis, if you watched my videos, you'd know I don't promote anybody and everybody. I actually use what I promote, and if I'm paid for it even better. Out of 500+ videos on this channel, I've only done about a dozen paid sponsorships ever. I have used the AMPED 3 with the THR30ii together for every video since I got it because it was a product I was waiting for for a long time because it's perfect for what I do. And before then, I solely used the Yamaha THR amps. If I didn't like it, I wouldn't have made a video on it in the first place. I would have simply sent it back and kept my mouth shut. You're right to be sceptical in this day and age but you're wrong to channel your feelings towards me in this scenario.
      Also, I already owned and used Blackstar and Yamaha products years before I was ever contacted by the brands to do videos.
      Now that you've been informed, in future please don't comment about me on my videos when you don't know what you're on about.

      I use the AMPED 3 in every video Shane. I don't need paying to say how good this product is for what I do. If you watched me or this channel you would know I hardly do any paid sponsored videos at all. I don't promote anybody who's anybody. I promote the stuff I like. Out of over 500 videos on this channel, under 30 of those are sponsored. I hope this clarifies things. 👍🏻
